Rumor- DVC switching back to Interval International (II)

What does the disboard family think? I am not asking because of buying more points. I am just hoping that Disney will change back to II.

Regardless of whether the rumor and/or source is reliable, here's one vote for II. I thought the II resort selection with II was much more appealing than what currently exists with RCI.

well we could all write to Jim Lewis and demand that he go back to II.

but since the man has ignored most of our complaints - do you really think writing would help.

he does what is best for HIM.

really like DVC much better before he came. Although do love BLT and without him don't think BLT would have happen.

dvc use to listen to our opinions and what we though counted. Now Jim Lewis is the only one who counts.

Once Aulani opens, I would expect all RCI/II trading to/from Hawaiian timeshares to be restricted, like trading to other Orlando area resorts.

Oh that would BITE!!:headache: I hope if they do that it's only restricted on Oahu. I would love to do about 3-4 nights at Aulani and then hop over to Maui and try the Westin for a week!! I guess there's always Costco Travel...

I'd like to see DVC dual affiliated with both. More choices.

I agree - if their lips were moving and they wanted to make a sale, well, you know . . .

So we should tell him we LOVE RCI and then he'd move back to II ? :confused3

Also the rumor from that timeshare guy HAS to be true. He heard it from a disney bus driver! :thumbsup2

I hope it's true but I thought DVC signed like a 5 year agreement with RCI? I personally think RCI stinks and I own a couple of decent traders. The pool of RCI resorts is lower quality that II, so it wouldn't surprise me if DVC owners are disappointed to trade DVC rooms for tier 2 and tier 3 low grade RCI properties. Losing II meant losing Westin and Marriott -- the 2 companies we consistently love the resorts at. I'll keep my fingers crossed!!

I am with Bill, if II is giving DVC a better deal to get them back, then they will be rushing over as fast as JL can get the papers signed.

They need the extra money to pay for that luxurious upgrade going on at OKW. ;)

We were staying at Diamonds Resorts (Grand Beach) last week. We were asked to do the timeshare presentation since we own with Diamond. The manager wanted us to buy more points. We told her that the only way we would add points, is if DVC comes back to II.

She then told us that "I should not be telling you this because the ink is not dry yet, but DVC will be making a few changes and coming back to II. Many DVC are not happy with RCI."
I'd like to see II back, too. Let me paraphrase what you just said, though.

You told a timeshare salesperson you would be interested in buying something from her if DVC was part of II again. By some coincidence, this person just happened to have unannounced, inside news that DVC is about to change back. Hmmmmm...

One can only hope that DVC goes back to II. I am really not happy with the resorts in places that I would like to visit from the RCI inventory. Before they switched to RCI I used a bonus week that I got from trading my Hawaii II timeshare for a 1 bedroom at OKW for an upcoming trip. I had planned to stay at Pop and get free dining but let's just say I couldn't pass up a free week in a 1 bedroom at OKW. It came out to be virtually the same $$ but I stayed in a 1 bedroom deluxe villa - heavenly.

Yeah -- I bet her lips were moving.

I would love for DVC to go back to II. For now though, my parents have 3 Marriott weeks so we take them for a week and they give us a week to trade. The II resorts are much better in my opinion.

I would never, EVER, trade for an RCI property but I would consider trading out to II, so yes, I hope they change back. If I'm going to trade out, I want something of comparable quality. No offense to RCI owners, and I'm sure there *are* nice places but the majority that I've seen personally are vastly inferior to DVC.---Kathy

Let me expand on my original post. Who would be happy if DVC went back to II?

I did not post this question to get advice about buying points. My wife and I do not buy (large purchases) on the spure of the moment.
II is better for one MAIN reason, Marriott. Marriott has rumors of their own going on currently that may impact that issue and it wouldn't surprise me to see them move to RCI in the next 3-5 years. Regardless there is likely to be less Marriott inventory in II over the next few years. Personally I'd like the option of direct exchange membership then I have control and more options. Even better than either RCI or II would be for DVC to ramp up their already in place and licensed exchange company, BVTC. IF Marriott goes with a points program DVC could like with them, Starwood, Wyndham, Hyatt, Bluegreen and the like and if done right, instantly vault to the head of the line for timeshare exchanges. And it give Disney something they really enjoy, control.

Yes, I've often wondered why they didn't take more advantage of BVTC. I thought it was headed that way until Jim Lewis took over. After that, BVTC seemed to fade into the background.

I agree, this would be a much better option.

Actually they seemed to essentially abandon the option as a major player early on. Early they had a large connection with both Hilton and Shell which seemed to fade away about the time we joined seemingly coinciding with the change from RCI to II at the time.

I wish they'd make a direct BVTC agreement with the Marriott near DLP, rather than having to spend the points to stay at the Disneyland Paris resorts, and buy a park pass for the length of stay. If I were to trade for a week or 10 days in Paris, I want to see more than just DLP parks.

Any new news on this???
I would love if DVC went back to II. The resorts are so much better:)

LOL! This "rumor" is a year old, and obviously the "ink hasn't dried yet" on that "deal". :lmao:
