It's rumored that WDW is looking at reducing the run time of the Country Bear Jamboree by five to six minutes. Several musical segments will be cut from the show in order to shorten the overall length. This will allow more guests to see the show and its rumored that this is related to the X-pass system which will implemented in the future.

An extensive rehab of the attraction is schduled to begin on 8/22

X-pass huh? i would rather have the Country Bears show at the current length. It all comes down to how many people they can move through an attraction or show in the shortest time possible. That way they can spend money in the gift shop as they exit. Maybe part of the draw of The Country Bears is the ability of those who visit to sit and relax and enjoy the show. It's not always about running from place to place.

I would be very sad if this happens Country Bear Jamboree seems to have a lot of Disney Magic attributed with it but the more I hear about the changes coming with the X-pass the more skeptical I get about the whole new system.

i'm going through the set, trying to figure out songs that could be cut without disrupting the flow...originally i came up with shaker and ernest since they are the only bears henry doesn't introduce. i did see on another board, momma don't whip little buford was gonna get cut? that's like 30 seconds and one of the most memorable parts of the show? i guess i'm just a fan of the show who doesn't want to see it changed, but how does making it shorter mean more people will want to see it? i'm also kind of clueless on x-pass...i guess i need to read some of those threads. :sad2:

X-pass is a ride reservation system. If you have reservations at a Disney Resort, you'll be able to reserve a time at several attractions in the theme parks up to 6 months in advance. It's rumored that CBJ will be on the x-pass system so I guess they are shortening the show so more guests can reserve an advance time to see the show. No one really knows when the x-pass system will begin.

Seems like every rumored change to an attraction wants to blame xPASS/FP+/namedujour.

xPASS isn't apparently just about attraction reservations, but creating unique and personalized experiences as well.

How would xPASS affect the desire to see CBJ? Would it REALLY increase guest flow by 100%? That's a heck of an increase.

Perhaps they think a shorter should might increase demand? After all, guests have to move, move, move...taking 15 minutes to see a show is too much. But then, there is no explaining the continued existence of Ellen's Energy Adventure...

Maybe it's all just a crazy dream? :confused3

I love CBJ - that said - I have never in the last 6 years had to wait in line more than one door-opening. I couldn't imagine this attraction needing/warranting any type of fast pass, new or old.

Well they chopped the Voyage of the Little Mermaid to pieces and cheapened the Beauty and the Beast show by getting rid of Four for a Dollar as well as cutting out many of the players....nothing is sacred. They also cut the time on the Tiki Hut (no big loss but still). When I go to some of the abbreviated attractions, you feel like I am on a rollercoaster and they cut me off half way down the ride!

I wonder how they will cut the Hall of Presidents???? If only.

Keep chipping away at the shows and they may as well all just be meet and greets. Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, now Country Bears seriously do people not have a 15 minute attention span...

These kinds of stories just seem to foreshadow a back direction Disney is heading
What makes the parks so wonderful and magical is the fact it's not so much the lands of escapism but as John Hench says, "the land of reassurance"
Main street is magical because it allows you to take in all the wonderful details and soak in the experience. Can you imagine if they shorten Main Street though?
It's the same idea. CBJ provides the same experience as Main Street does in terms of details and emotional response.

The point is Disney needs to remember the importance of details in the parks otherwise it's no longer the Disney experience

While it would be sad to shorten the show I hope the new technology will make up for it. I think it would be very magical if the animatronics could sing Happy Birthday to a guest from the information from the X-Pass. They could know before hand which show the guest would be attending.

I don't think I want to go on every attraction and hear one or two people signaled out, that will get old really fast. While that technology might be nice for a one on one meet and greet, not what I want when I go to WDW and experience attractions.

That's a very valid point.

They are NOT going to shorten the show! This rumor is highly unsubstantiated for many reasons!

The show is already very tightly-written as it is and there's really nothing that they can cut without affecting the show, which already does well as it is.

Cutting down the show would be an added expense that they most likely wouldn't want to pay for, not something that would save money and get more audiences through the place each day.

Also, CBJ, like most MK theater shows, is NOT going to be participating in the FP+ program anyway.

Oh no! I hope this is just a rumor! We love the Country Bears! It is one of my daughter's favorites! And there are so few attractions/rides for the little ones- Country Bears is one of the few that is great for for all ages, including little ones!
