Rumor about PTN...

I just read something online that is a rumor but thought I would share. Please don't shoot the messenger...

It said that there is a rumor that the Electric Light Parade is ending at WDW on September 10th and PTN will be coming to WDW.

Again, just a rumor, but we do know that PTN is gone after the 5th in DL so.......

Lots of discussion going on over on the rumors board. Rumor is that MSEP will start in January at DLR and PTN is going to WDW (no date mentioned). Rumor goes on to say there could be an announcement later today.

Thanks for the link mom2rtk. It really sounds as if it may be true according to lots on that thread.

I am both sad and happy. When I found out PTN wouldn't be showing after the 5th I was so bummed as we are at DL the 8-11th, however, we are going to WDW in February so if it is true, then I get to see my beloved PTN one more time!

That would not be cool. Why do we get some old aged parade and they get our new one? And we all know they won't give it back for another decade when it's old and aged again.

I have mixed feelings about it. Paint The Night is SO AWESOME! So BOO that we have to lose it to WDW!

But...I would be quite pleased if the Main Street Electrical Parade came back to Disneyland. My DH and I saw this parade as kids. And when we were first married, we went to Disneyland just for the day when we lived in So Cal at the time to see it one last time before the parade was retired. And it was REALLY REALLY FUN!

So now there's a chance that DH & I can introduce our kids to the Main Street Electrical Parade? SIGN ME UP!

I think most of us assumed it would be seasonal for a while. Nobody expected it to be scrapped.

There's no sad and happy here. I've seen the MSEP since I was a teenager and it's never been that great. The synth music has always been outdated to me. Absolutely no nostalgia factor for this guest. Hoping that DL management puts their foot down and says "No, this show is ours and you can't have it."

I honestly think Disney will get more "bang for its buck" out of PTN on the east coast because the parade itself could drive up attendance. The gamble for Disney is that any nighttime parade will be enough of a hit in Disneyland and unfortunately I suspect this would be true. They could still sell their dining packages and pre-parade merchandise to MSEP. MSEP was really neat... before I saw PTN. I couldn't care less about MSEP now. C'est la vie. I see more Pirates rides and Big Thunder rides in my Disneyland nighttime future!

Not sure my feelings on this. We've done DLR a lot in the past year and seen PTN several times. We are going to WDW in early March and we knew they had the MSEP, which I never saw. So bummed that we won't get to see it, and also that it might jack up attendance for our March trip, although it could mean shorter lines for rides while the parade is going on.

I would imagine part of moving it to WDW is that it is so high in height and limits the Christmas decorations on Main Street. JMO

After listening to all of the podcasts, and hearing about how WDW is not doing so great financially right now, I can't say I'm terribly surprised that PtN will be going there for a while. I haven't seen it yet, but will in two weeks! I love MSEP, but based on the photos I've seen of PtN, I have a feeling it's going to blow my mind.

The afternoon parade Festival of Fantasy is also very tall, so much so that the MS buntings were not put up at WDW last year, so PtN wouldn't be the only reason.

I just realized you probably meant the decorations at MS DL, so yeah that makes sense.

I'm excited to show DFi MSEP, as he only started going to Disney parks when he met me. But I'm bummed about PTN.

If WDW is going to take PTN, maybe we should take Dreamlights from Tokyo

Apparently not since the blog post that went up this evening says PTN is not going to WDW and will be in DLR for "select nights" during the holiday season.

I'm really hoping "select nights" includes 1/3-1/6. I have a res for that week and we have been toying with the idea of going since in all my trips we have never been for christmas time. My mind hasn't been made up since we really need to start saving for our 2017 WDW trip but if I could get another shot at PTN my mind might get made up to go after all.
