I think the videos/pictures are both sad and happy. I’m glad to see people out and enjoying themselves - sad to see the distancing, masks, etc. Nobody really wears them here, so it’s definitely different.

One thing I haven’t seen yet are any children in the photos. Probably because it’s all locals right now, and not families on vacation. I showed the pictures to 2 of my kids (5 and 7) and they asked if Universal had banned kids due to “The Virus.” (That’s how they refer to it.) They have both told me they will gladly wear a mask to Disney all day long if it’s required.

I am glad to hear about the masks. They will help reduce the big problem of transmission caused by asymptomatic spreaders.

It's not going to be easy, but guests and CM's looking out for each other's health is a good thing.

I agree I thought it was phase 3 but either way it’s only temporary.

I doubt its temporary. Lifting social distancing measures is more about group size and not physical distancing. I don't see normal coming back til there is a vaccine or a treatment.

I've seen several kids in pictures and video so far. Masked up, too.

To be fair, I only showed them the ones on this thread. We will catch up with our favorite vloggers later. They will get excited to look for other kids.

Almost my whole family wears masks wherever we go, even though it’s not mandatory in our state and hardly anyone else does. I know it probably sounds like I’m adamantly against them - I’m not. It’s my one special needs kid that has a hard time, and that’s what I’ve always defended. Fortunately, they aren’t required here and so we can function just fine for now. We also don’t have a trip planned currently.

It’s a shame about the masks, can’t even see the smile on my kids face or anyone else for that matter when enjoying the magic. Takes away the human connections.

Think we will bypass any Disney trips until the muzzle movement is over.

We are in the Tampa area and while I have been going to the groceries once a week, today was the first time my children have been in a store in 10 weeks. We went to Target. Everyone we saw except one person had on masks while we were there. My DD2 and DS11 wore a mask the whole time, as did all of the other children we saw in the store ( more than a dozen!) So, maybe children will be more apt to wear them ( and do well in the parks) than some people think. I realize not all will, but I told my daughter if she wanted to look at toys, she had to have on her mask......worked well!

There are a lot of people making masks. I'm sure if your kid thinks the mask is cool, they'll think it's Halloween year round and not complain about it.

Funnily enough, at this point in time, it's the masks that maintain the human connection.

Yes, I think its a worthy question to ask what's the CEO's response going to be with folks passing out and smacking their heads in the parks? Perhaps that's a question they don't want to address.

In the beginning of this, I totally thought my two typical kids wouldn’t be able to do masks at all. They have really surprised me, and I’m happy to admit I was wrong. However, they still do a really bad job of touching them too often and pulling them down to talk.

I’m glad to see that Universal (and soon Disney) is taking this so seriously. To me, the masks, temp check, etc. are signs that the theme parks are committed to making everyone (customers and employees) as safe as possible. It may look a little different, but they’re trying to make it a SAFE and happy place.

Maybe my perspective is a little different. I was in college in 2001, and my family had planned this really big trip. Then 9/11 happened. I became an AP because of 9/11. We cancelled our trip because of safety reasons and went to Disney instead (we were nervous about planes and WDW was in driving distance). The no fly zone around the parks and the (really invasive at that point) bag check meant that we were as safe as possible once we got in. The security check didn’t ruin the magic for me. It made the magic possible.

To me, the masks today are the equivalent of the bag checks. Since everyone is required to wear them, that means I’ll actually be safer at Disney than I am at Target where masks are just strongly suggested. To me, that’s Disney (and Universal, I guess) magic at work.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility? That was being said all the time in regards to Disney not making rules and letting people take their protection and hygiene into their own hands. Personal responsibility = while masks are required if wearing a mask in Florida does not work for you and you are worried about things like passing out, it is your responsibility to yourself to not go.

It is abundantly clear masks are here at least for the time being. I am confident they have taken all the “what if’s” into account and are still making the decisions they are.
