Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

You can’t seriously be suggesting everyone going to Disney wanting to bring in a bag is going to buy clear plastic purses and backpacks? To walk around with in the FL sun? 😂
I'm not saying that it will happen, but it happens all the time for sporting events and concerts now as it is. I went to an NFL game while it was in the 90s in CA and saw tons of people with clear plastic backpacks.

Well Sarah it sounds like you and butterscotch are 2 folks id like to be in the park with. Right now for me, just too many of the other kind lurking around. I see it posted on here everyday, people who think this no big deal and aren’t going to pay attention to what’s going on. A couple of years ago we were at a pool at one of the resorts at night. My kids put there stuff ona chair and we jumped in. When we came back 2 creeps were sitting in our pool side chairs smoking cigarettes. I complained to a CM and know what they did? NOTHING. Didn’t even ask them to put out cigs. Was all I could do not to start something but had no desire to get into it with my kids there. So can’t imagine how they can possibly control social distancing. Too many inconsiderate people
I truly hope you get to go and have a wonderful time in July. I hope you don’t encounter anyone like the “pool jerks” as we now call them. For me though the cost of this type encounter this time would not be annoyance but my family’s health. Not up for that.
I run in to "pool jerk" type people every single time I go to the store here, so encountering them at Disney is just par for the course for me. It's why I still say I have just as much of a chance of getting it running to the store as I do going to WDW (and I'd much rather be at WDW taking that risk than at Kroger). I've already had the virus and exposed my whole family for several days by the time I went "Oh yeah, I think I might need to self isolate!", and then got tested, and no one else in my house got visibly sick. The truth is, as a healthcare employee myself, there are still so many things that are just huge question marks about how this virus is transmitted. By all accounts my husband should have gotten really sick if you listen to every single sceintiest and doctor who puts out warnings about how the virus is transmitted. You could go stand in a crowded room for hours and not get it, but then turn around and pick up the wrong can of beans at the store and get really sick, so I'll take my chances on a vacation and my usual germaphobe tendancies.

Well, everything plastic was in style in the 90's, lets not forget that lol. I for one would completely resisit a clear plastic bag, I don't want people seeing my business, I'll wear a mask all day but I won't do that.

Yeah it's become the norm for sports and concerts mainly because it really speed up the security line. Security can easy take a look at it and wave you through and they don't have to touch anything either. Increasing speed of bag check is one of the main reasons places do it. When I see some of the bag lines at disney I'm glad I can just goo through the no bags line

Hi I was reading responses to my post about six flags and daily reservations once they open. It seems more people think Disney wouldn't be able to do that or wouldn't. It was suggested that Diseny could just close the parks when it gets to capacity like phases they use at Christmas and other times of the year. However, that is maybe a week or two out of the year when this happens. You are talking on a daily basis they will have to probably enact phase 4 on a daily basis. It is not just going to be people spending a lot of money to stay on site a lot of people go off site. I would take the bet that if someone planned an expensive week off site and planned to go to Disney but not get in there would be angry guests. If you add up many angry guests at this it could have all sorts of problems. I just don't see them closing the parks on people as they show up, especially if people are coming for a week or more and it happens every day. I think they will have to address the capacity issues in other ways of phase closings.

How I wish we could go bagless. But with a teenager with food allergies, I have to bring in all of his meds and snacks. But one day, when he's in college, I'm going to do a mom and dad only trip for the sole purpose of NOT carrying a bag. 🤣

I really don't think attendance will be high enough for that to be an issue as long as they wait until 50% capacity is the limit. This board seems split about 50/50 and this is the die hards. I think the general public will be slow to come back to the parks.

Well first off glad to hear you’ve recovered and your family is good. It’s nice to hear a positive story. Second thanks for your service as a healthcare worker. In other news we disagree about to go or not to go but I would probably have a different perspective had I had an experience as you had. I say again hope it’s open and you have a great time

Same. I haven't been to either since they started implementing clear bags, but a concert or sporting event is a couple hours long mostly in one place, it's a lot easier to pare down what you need to carry and even then it would really annoy me.

If they open at 50% capacity, I don't think there's a chance they're going to go to any level of closure. 50% is not an uncrowded park and at any rate, they aren't going to be slammed with guests. And even if they did, people need to do their own research. If Disney is hitting capacity and having to close parks, it won't be hard to know that- at that point, either stay on site or take your chances.

Disney rarely completely closes their parks due to capacity and it's only a very few days out of the year they have any level of closure- and that was pre virus days. They aren't going to force their on site guests to take a chance of getting a reservation in order to go to the parks. I'm convinced, if the resorts are open and the parks are open, resort guests will get in - the only exception being if they totally shut down the parks.

Disney needs to spend the money and put the scanners in that Universal uses
will they be cleaning the bins after each use? virus on out side of bag is left in bin then you put your bag in or on belt which would have to be cleaned. not sure it is any safer

Has anyone heard any rumors about Vero Beach? I have a reservation for mid August.

I for one applaud your efforts to be personally responsible and thank you
However, I have unfortunately seen far too many people that have little interest in being personally responsible.
This. Unfortunately there’s a good amount of people in this country taking a defiant stance to virus precautions. And unfortunately Disney has to account for those people too.

I would be looking for a clear type bag so security can look thru bag without touching inside

I mentioned this earlier, but 50% capacity is just about a normal attendance day at MK, which is really packed from a social distancing perspective.

I actually have a decent one I bought this past year because my son is in marching band and we are required to have clear bags at band competitions. So I have a clear cross body backpack that has served me well. I can imagine that the June heat is going to make it fun to the touch, but I could just make my husband carry it!

And on the Dr. Oz and June bookings comment, you can still book for anything from June 1st onward. I've been going back and forth on adding VAH to our arrival date and it's still available for me to buy on June 19th. Not sure if I'll need it if crowds are super low, though, so we are waiting to hear the word on what's going to happen before I book.

The outside of most bags touches things all day long. The floor/net of ride vehicles, on the ground during shows, on the bench next to you, etc etc. I try to keep the straps from going on the ground but I know the outside of my bag is not clean. But the stuff inside my bag is, at Universal anyways, since only I touch it and I only touch it with clean hands.
