Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

How does one properly sanitize a stick? Not a question I ever thought I'd ask. :)
Whatever the process is it would surely take time. Seems they should have several sticks to be using in some kind of stick holder/decontamination container and then rotate which stick they use whilst others are decontaminated

Yes, we can expect Disney to take every precaution possible to keep the environment clean and safe, but without that layer of "personal responsibility" from the guests there is no way they can keep us all safe 100%, so I am inclined to agree that if I go I'm ready to take some extra precautions myself (mask, Lysol wipes) instead of just assuming that everything will be fine just because it's Disney.
I for one applaud your efforts to be personally responsible and thank you
However, I have unfortunately seen far too many people that have little interest in being personally responsible.

Correct. One look at the condition of the women’s bathroom on a busy day shows that many people don’t have a very good sense of personal responsibility. I feel for the custodial CMs who have to put up with that nonsense.

Wholeheartedly agree and it's such a shame that some people behave as if others should clean up their messes (the trash can is RIGHT THERE!) but all the more reason to be extra vigilant for yourself/your party, and try to pick up the slack for those entitled guests who feel that something as simple as sanitizing their hands is an unnecessary inconvenience. And I'm not even talking about the mask debate or how much that would/won't help, I'm talking about guests who leave their used napkins/straws/utensils on tables and get up and leave someone else to touch something that's been in their mouths, or who don't wash their hands after using the restroom - gross in normal times for sure, but now it's just mind-blowing how ignorant that behavior would be.

Which is exactly why we have to be more responsible. When I went at the end of January I saw the pharmacy delivery vans and mobile docs parked outside of three resorts as I rode DME ont he way to my own where I then saw more. I already wash my hands regularly and use sanitizers in the parks because the last thing I want is to get sick on vacation, but seeing that made me up my game even more. I went to the gift shop and bought another bottle of hand sanitizer (which I still have in my car and use when I go to the store) just in case I needed more, and was more vigilant about wiping down tables and not touching things that didn't have to be touched. Do you need to touch the rails in the ride queus? Aboslutely not. Are there ways around touching surfaces in bathrooms after you wash your hands? There absolutely is. When I *hopefully* get to go in July I have already bought masks to use if required (or even if I just feel like wearing one), I have hand sanitizer ready to go, and am fully ready to police my own distance from people and remind others to get out of my personal bubble (really, this is a dream for me because one of my pet peeves in the park/in queus is people standing right up on top of me when it's not needed). We have to have personal responsibility, expect Disney to do all they can do and then fill in the blanks with our own level of personal precautions.

I agree, too. We have a trip in late June coming from out of state. I'd much rather know in advance, before we get there, that we wouldn't have access to the parks due to limited capacity than to show up at the gate and be denied entry. Sure I'd be bummed that I'd have to cancel/reschedule my trip, but I'd understand based on the current situation and the need for safety. If I was already there, forked out all of that $$, but was then denied entry, then I'd definitely be upset.
We still have a resort stay scheduled and ADRs for May 25-27 that Disney has not canceled yet...I mean, less than 3 weeks out and over a thousand dollars all in limbo....

Speaking of security screenings at the gate, I wonder how they will do bag checks going forward. The more I think about a security guard going though someones bag and then going through mine, the more I'm concerned. If the guards don't change gloves between bags, then there is little to no way germs will not be spread between the two. X-ray bag screening on the horizon possibly?

I could see them doing what many sports teams have done and require stuff carried in to be in a clear plastic bag that can be inspected without opening up.

Ugh, I hate to be that person that bring up "masks" again, but I think it's important to know what WDW is telling their CMs about it. This is from the HUB:

As you know, many of our Cast Members are now wearing face coverings while working on property during the closure period. While a face covering provides some benefit, it’s important to remember that the best way to help prevent infection continues to be avoiding exposure to the virus and remaining vigilant about preventing the spread of germs.

Here are some key messages to reinforce with your Cast:

  • When wearing a face covering, it’s still important to continue practicing preventive measures such as staying home when you are ill, frequent handwashing and, when possible, social distancing by staying at least 6 feet apart from others, particularly for prolonged periods of 10 minutes or more.
  • It is important to properly put on, wear and remove a face covering.
    • Reusable face coverings should be changed or laundered daily.
    • Cast Members should always wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before putting on their face coverings. If soap and water are not readily available, a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol may be used.
    • Cast Members should avoid touching the front of the face covering during the removal process as it may be contaminated. They should also be careful not to touch their eyes, nose, and mouth and wash hands immediately after.
    • At the end of the work day, disposable face coverings should be disposed of in a trash bag and closed trash bin, and reusable face coverings should be kept in a bag until they can be laundered.
    • For more details on how to properly wear and remove a face covering, please see the attached Leader Reference Guide.
  • A face covering is not intended to protect the wearer, but it may prevent the spread of the virus from the wearer to others. This is especially important if someone is infected but does not have symptoms. Their primary role is to reduce the release of infectious particles into the air when someone speaks, coughs, or sneezes, including someone who has COVID-19 but feels well.
Makes me happy to know Disney is taking the safety of using/wearing them very seriously instead of just “put it on and don’t touch it”.

This was brought up earlier on this thread or in the other one
They have been using a stick to move things around the inside of bags so it would be minimal contact with inside stuff, as to the actual gloves they can sanitize between each bag.
They could also ask the owner of the bag to open it up themselves and then they move things around with the stick (which can also be sanitized) I don't think they will be changing gloves constantly

At my college football games, they make us open the bag and all pockets and they use a stick to dig through.

But that is putting the responsibility on the customer again. As with all businesses, right now responsibility is on the business to be doing everything they can for the safety of customers and employees. Otherwise they simply should not be open.
Where it should be. People should be responsible for themselves not relying on a business or someone else to take care of them.

I can’t. Not with all the different baby bags, purses and backpacks out there that people use. Carrying all of it in a plastic bag that you pray doesn’t break in the course of theme park going just doesn’t sound practical. (Sports are very different. You grab some food or use a bathroom but the rest of the time you’re at your seat.)

They make clear plastic backpacks specifically for these instances. The previous poster isn't talking about using a grocery store bag or ziplocs.

Well Sarah it sounds like you and butterscotch are 2 folks id like to be in the park with. Right now for me, just too many of the other kind lurking around. I see it posted on here everyday, people who think this no big deal and aren’t going to pay attention to what’s going on. A couple of years ago we were at a pool at one of the resorts at night. My kids put there stuff ona chair and we jumped in. When we came back 2 creeps were sitting in our pool side chairs smoking cigarettes. I complained to a CM and know what they did? NOTHING. Didn’t even ask them to put out cigs. Was all I could do not to start something but had no desire to get into it with my kids there. So can’t imagine how they can possibly control social distancing. Too many inconsiderate people
I truly hope you get to go and have a wonderful time in July. I hope you don’t encounter anyone like the “pool jerks” as we now call them. For me though the cost of this type encounter this time would not be annoyance but my family’s health. Not up for that.

Honestly if going through your bag , making sure the stick they use is sanitized. or if other guest aren't wearing a mask is worrisome for an individual then perhaps Disney isn't' the place for them over the next few months. If my trip is not canceled in July and Disney is open I am not looking to them to jump through hoops to keep me safe. I am fully aware of the risk involved with going to a theme park during this time.

You can’t seriously be suggesting everyone going to Disney wanting to bring in a bag is going to buy clear plastic purses and backpacks? To walk around with in the FL sun? 😂
