Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I just read a post on WDWMagic that said some CMs called back for Disney Springs for May 11th. OP wasn't sure if it was for cleaning or what.
Let the anticipating begin...I mean, continue...
🤷‍♀️

(ETA: sorry if posted in wrong thread, they all start to look the same anymore...)
That would make sense, somebody also said somewhere that the Hard Rock Cafe was possibly accepting reservations on May 11th on open table. I don’t know what May 11th has as significance.

I wouldn’t complain (as an AP holder) because to me, as long as I go into the parks 5 times a year, it’s beyond paid for. Technically it would be less than because I get the DVC pricing, but I don’t typically spend full days in the parks anymore, I’ll do about 4 in one, take a break and go to another for about 3 hours. But once I reach that 5th day, I’ve already surpassed what I feel the pass is worth, to me. The 2 times I’ve had an AP I think I’ve used it over 20 park days in 4 trips, so beyond worth it.

but if there’s no fireworks, no parades, there will be a lot of AP holders, maybe not the locals, but a lot that had gotten their AP before the shutdown, paid the price, discounted or not with the full experience in mind that wont be very happy. I love the fireworks, but I’m more of a nighttime parade type of person. No fireworks isn’t a dealbreaker for me, but I understand it’s part of the full Disney day experience for many. And not having that, while expecting AP holders to be satisfied is risky PR
Just my personal opinion, but AP satisfaction would be impossible to quantify. AP doesn't guarantee you anything except entry to the parks in the state they're in. Refurbs happen, and your AP doesn't guarantee you a ride on BTMR if it's closed. Changes are made or something is removed, or a parade or nighttime show is changed, not every AP is entitled to something because of that change. Out of all the bad PR moves WDW can make right now, discontinuing fireworks to keep people safe is NOT one of them.

That’s interesting because you can make reservations for Hard Rock Cafe on Open Table starting on that date as well. 🤔 I would think City Walk and Springs would open around the same time.

Where in Florida are gators only 6 feet long?
Well most of Florida where alligators are present. They are not all 14-16 feet long. However I would never recommenced being within 6 feet of an alligator over 4 feet long.

Dumb humans tend to feed them so they lose their natural behavior to avoid us and will often approach expecting food.

I guess Disney’s options would be:

1) Take the risk and open despite the chance of lawsuits. If they do not have an outbreak and the mortality rate of this disease is al low as we now know it is then great. If they have a huge outbreak that results in deaths they could be sued Into obscurity and bankruptcy.

2) Stay closed and go bankrupt. At the same time their absence would decimate the central Florida economy. All of the hotels, restaurants, shops, food and liquor wholesalers, smaller entertainment venues etc. that surround WDW which rely on the tourism that WDW brings in, would fold in short order. The Florida economy would be damaged to degrees that no one could imagine. The unemployment roles would swell massively.
These closures could/would have a ripple effect throughout the rest of the country as the farmers and importers that supply the wholesalers who supply central Florida business would also see a drop in income and would make their ability buy things locally within their own states and towns. Travel agencies would

I’d wager that they are going to take the risk of opening.

I would add that if you give up four freedom for safety you will GET neither.
Agree. One thing Disney has that most normal everyday people don’t is access to teams of lawyers who make lots of money to ensure they are protected against lawsuits. I imagine they are working on additional verbiage so they can not be held liable if something bad should happen.

Why is it so hard for people to just stay 6ft away from others and wear a mask when you can't? I realize everyone is antsy to get back to normal but social distancing is going to be here til they find a treatment or a vaccine. How hard is it go to Disney and stay away from others?

I saw two this morning. One was a little baby around a foot long. The other maybe 4 feet.

Ugh! I'm thinking about the CM prep/training that would be needed for a June 1st opening. Could it be done in time if they are called back on the 17th? I'm not optimistic, but I'm also not a CM.
They aren’t hiring all new people. They can call back their furloughed employees. They wouldn’t need to be retrained, just updated.

Nail in the coffin for a June 1st opening, I would think.

My thinking is that cm will be called back for the week of the 24th. So their schedule should come out on the 17th
They only need a couple of days to train for whatever new procedures are in place. In all honestly they could learn it in one day.

But I cannot find any DS/WDW restaurants on OT today. They were there yesterday. Even the ones, which are always there, such as WBG and BH have vanished and I cannot modify the reservations that I have. This is for July.

It will still take time to do that. Its not just that it's also putting in all the social distancing measures as well as test rides that have been not running.

Yeah, I looked yesterday too and Jaleo and one other was there, but couldn’t find any other Disney Springs restaurants. To be fair, I never booked on Open Table for Disney as I just go through the Disney site. It’s all so weird.

I’m wondering if they will only allow walk ups to start out?

It still takes time to put measures in place. Putting tape in all queues for social distancing, putting up plexiglass as well as testing the attractions. Just cause Disney is taking reservations June 1st doesn't mean they are opening then.
