Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Wow, sorry.

I was just surprised as I never heard what you posted (or even saw discussed in this thread ad nauseam) - that a ban of consumption of alcohol in restaurants and bars was in place.
That was totally new to me and I think it would be a game changer to some who have trips planned in the near future if that's still the rule.

I didn't mean to imply that people shouldn't lower their expectations...
There’s also a ban on consuming food in restaurants and bars in place.

This,

The Florida order just bans people buying open beers and liquor by the drink curbside. Otherwise, you would have ad hoc open-air bars opening up everywhere. I believe you can currently order alcohol with takeout as long as they are in sealed containers Once they ok restaurants to serve inside they can serve alcohol like before according to their license. Bars are defined as making most of their money from the sale of alcohol instead of food. As they said , they will open last due to occupancy.
Hmm... wonder if they’d allow select bars to open, like those attached to restaurants, or those that agree to only serve seated patrons... Booze is a restaurant’s best margins, and a sweet little driver of tax revenue for the state... I think they’ll find an arrangement of some sort.

I can see how alcohol could be an issue, though. With some of the potential modifications in place, you have to be thinking clearly to be sure you follow them. It’s hard to social distance when your brain can’t tell the difference in one foot and six feet. We might have to stay in a designated walking lane. We will need to wash or sanitize our hands very frequently. After a certain amount of alcohol, it would be quite easy to lose all concern for safety measures. The gloves literally come off.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were at least modifications on alcohol, if not an outright ban.

So I take it grocery stores aren’t selling booze? If they are hello grocery delivery lol. Like if people want to drink so much they can’t tell the difference between 1 foot and 6 feet they’re gonna find a way. And security will be there with masks and gloves to greet them.

y’all realize Oga’s is still taking reservations right? So Disney thinks they’ll have some sort operational liquor license. For now. Although if they make people sit to prevent standing/crowding it’ll be what 8 people in at a time? 😂

Most people drink responsibly. I doubt they’d ban all alcohol sales if they’re legally allowed to serve. It’s a huge money maker.

You’re not wrong that it seems people throw caution into the win after a few too many libations, but in order to get litty at Disney you’ve got to have a decent bank roll and be averse to sweating it out in our heat. Don’t get me wrong, it happens and I’ve seen it (mostly at Epcot, and mostly during Food and Wine or the occasional bachelorette party -or Hen Do for our crumpet friends), but it seems to be a rare sighting for me anyways. Disclaimer of course is that I’m not there everyday, but I live right down the street from the parks and usually go at least 2x a week so I’ve had some exposure to the Disney Drunk.

Ooh, I hadn't thought about stand-sideways-at-a-table-Oga's. That's part of what makes it fun, but that is not going to work right now. If Disney is actually going to try to mostly keep people six feet away from each other, Oga's would have to be less than half capacity.

The crowding issue at Oga’s could easily be taken care of it they only serve Jabba Juice, Blurrgfire, and Blue Bantha. 🧃

You and I have a very different definition of fun.

Living just down the street. I’m so jealous. I’d put up with drunk people at Epcot twice a week if I had the chance.

I didn't see the personal cars only rumor! So we'd all be required to rent a car? I don't think I'd like that at all! I like to enjoy a cocktail (or 3) at night...
That particular rumor indicated Minnie Vans would still run. So you would be ok with your :drinking1

The governor has said that bars and nightclubs will be among the last to open.
But you can still have a drink (or 3) at dinner, they only say bars and nightclubs last because its harder to social distance. We recently had the ability to get alcoholic drinks to go as long as the alcohol itself was in a sealed container, so a margarita with the mix in one cup and a little sealed bottle of alcohol on the side. I don't feel like they would necessarily keep the no alcohol ordinance in place for extremely long, at least not at regular sit down restaurants (unless they're scared of drunk people who have no ability to social distance, in which case I understand).

I could have sworn the no transportation rumour came along with no parking fees, but I think it was implied it was no theme park parking fees as resorts were closed and parks opened first in that round of rumours?

Here in Florida all restaurants have closed, only pick up or delivery. But yes, i agree with @vinotinto that Disney will open after all the executive orders have lifted

Disney rarely takes a shot in the dark. It was late March when they put out the offer to cancelled guests. I think they had what they believed to be a very good chance of opening by then. They still may, we don’t know. But I don’t think they just threw out a date with no thought behind it.
I would generally agree with you but I kinda feel like the whole country is being forced to shoot in the dark right now. Not sure there is any other way to do things right now. I’m more than willing to wait and see where we are in 33 days. But in reality you are going to need to have something out there well before that. If they are going to limit experiences they are going to have to be very explicit about it. Can’t open up and have thousands of dining reservations just disappear because they are on reduced capacity. People spend the money they do to have a pleasant experience and I’d be surprised how many will line up to throw their cash at if it is anything less
