Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

It’s up to the cm to take a look at their finances and decide if they can afford it, if they’re interested. But if the resorts actually are opening in June I don’t think it’d be several months til the parks open and most/all cm are working again.
Don’t part time CMs have access as well? So the ones doing this job for fun side money (there’s definitely a chunk of them) could be prime for this offer, especially if they’ve been saving for other travel plans that are now blown up.

I don't think its ridiculous at all. Having only MK open and most resorts closed limits capacity. If you don't think that's happening then I have a bridge to sell you.
You've already bought a bridge if you don't know that most of WDW's profits come from its resort guests, not directly from the parks. There is no way they will reopen parks and leave resorts closed. They're losing enough money as it is.

They slowly reopen the resorts when the other parks open. Start with the monorail ones and have MK open like in the rumored plan.

Have to ask since this is about modified experiences. Why do so many downplay any of the measures that are rumored to be put in place?

What germs? My neck isn't germy. Do you never take your mask off? Isn't that the same thing? I'm only going to wear it when I have to. I don't understand your comment.

At Disney, or anywhere warm for that matter, I guarantee people will be taking their masks on and off, wiping their face constantly. None of this means anything, but if me covering my face in crowds makes others feel safer, I'll do it. It's certainly not to prevent me from getting anything.
Exactly! If you are comfortable going to WDW the mask is only a formality!

Except that they encouraging booking at more than the monorail resorts with a free dining discount and now CM rates that are better than normal. They may be forced to condense, but I think it’s close to no chance they’ll only open the monorail resorts.

They could easily turn around and cancel them. Why I said all along it was mistake to encourage booking so early. There is going to be a lot of upset people, especially ones who are expecting the normal Disney experience.

Because they are afraid of change. Afraid of what the "new normal" is going to be going forward. Yes - there will be a new normal at WDW that includes some new measures. Just think since 2000 we've had SARS and H1N1, which were caught and isolated relatively early but did some damage nonetheless. There was also an ebola scare that thankfully didn't hit our shores. But now we've had COVID-19 which wasn't caught early enough. Does anyone here really think Disney wants to be caught with their pants down in the future whenever the next one hits?

I’m still in the boat that says accepting reservations June 1 means they intend to open June 1. And I happen to believe it will be all parks and hotels by then. Maybe a few hotels closed due to lack of demand and guests moved elsewhere.

I’ve also thought the MK resort only rumor was ridiculous- even if someone gave it an “internal name” 😂

Bring a bucket for that boat. You'll need it to start bailing soon.,

Lots of emotional attachment to WDW, especially if your vacation plans for this year have been compromised. I said earlier I don't have a dog in this fight, so I am looking at it from a logic standpoint. If my trip was in peril I would be saying something different.

Presumably they'll tape off some seats on the boats

I actually wasn't even thinking seatwise. I was thinking about people who stand. I don't think I have ever sat down on the boat. I've always stood against the railings. Maybe they don't let people stand? But, that reduces capacity even more. But, assuming they do allow standing passengers, trying to stop people from moving around seems like a futile venture.

social distancing on the boats seems needless to me, the virus only spreads by bodily fluids from saliva and nose right? anyone downwind of anyone sneezing will get some particles regardless of 6ft or 8 ft or 10 ft. it'll just blow behind them helped by the wind
The front seat, by the captain will be the best place to sit on the little boats. On the fery all the way to the front in the direction the boat is moving
keeping monorails one cart per family will create huge lines at the stations (again social distancing at the station) unless the resort capacity is very low and rooms are constricted to visit a park on a specific day only

Yes, but that was my assumption in the first place...that for one, capacity is going to be particularly low. For two, a decent number of people at Contemporary or MK will walk. Another decent number of people will take a resort ferry (assuming they are running). And obviously not everyone at the resort will be able to go to the park every day, so I doubt people will be getting on the monorail just for the fun of it.

That said, with the boat situation, can you imagine the boat dock at the end of the night? With 6 feet distancing, the line could feasibly be backed up into the MK.

My point is, the fact that they are offering them shows they think they can open. I don’t think they made the decision lightly. The free dining offer was made to guest who had been not just disappointed, but early on at least, cancelled with little indication it would ever be possible. I know for us, our car was packed and we were a day away from leaving when it was announced. We’re all going on “signs” we see and there’s just been nothing that gives any indication, at least on Disney’s part, that they’re going to have a 1 park opening with very few resorts available. Should it turn out they were wrong and they can’t open or the experience is diminished enough that we can’t accept it, I won’t blame them for attempting it at least. We’ll just re-book yet again. And I’d say this whether we had plans or not. My opinion is based on what I’m seeing and not on whether I have a trip planned. We always have a trip on the books. lol Time will tell who’s right.
