Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

If WDW is open in June arent they going to need every CM they can to be working?
Nah. There aren’t going to open to tons of people wanting to go. Opening day bloggers, desperate locals will make up the first wave. Some of us here have an appetite to travel, the general public does not. Evidence: abundance of room availability and seats on flights. Even with blocked middle rows seats look abundant in June playing around from the west coast.

Remember all the older folks at WDW?... most of them aren’t going for a looooong time. When you’re too scared to go to your grocery store you’re not traveling to a theme park in a couple months.

And I didn’t even get into the economic situation many families have found themselves in suddenly.

social distancing on the boats seems needless to me, the virus only spreads by bodily fluids from saliva and nose right? anyone downwind of anyone sneezing will get some particles regardless of 6ft or 8 ft or 10 ft. it'll just blow behind them helped by the wind
The front seat, by the captain will be the best place to sit on the little boats. On the fery all the way to the front in the direction the boat is moving
keeping monorails one cart per family will create huge lines at the stations (again social distancing at the station) unless the resort capacity is very low and rooms are constricted to visit a park on a specific day only

Exactly why we're likely to see masks recommended, if not required...

Just checking around and for those wondering the HUB is offering CM 50% off rates for resorts stay in June, for example a stay at All Star is at $89 per night Contemporary $280
and July 4th weekend All Star at $107 Contemporary $288 per night
The 50% is offered to CM only when there's an abundance of rooms available
Or does it also mean they’re planning a soft opening to CMs only to test modifications??

Not only that. How many are going to want to travel to Disney from out of state for a lesser experience?

Very interesting that they are offering rooms to CM, why would they do that if no plans to be open.
I’m still in the boat that says accepting reservations June 1 means they intend to open June 1. And I happen to believe it will be all parks and hotels by then. Maybe a few hotels closed due to lack of demand and guests moved elsewhere.

I’ve also thought the MK resort only rumor was ridiculous- even if someone gave it an “internal name” 😂

I don’t know how you got that rate, but I’ve never seen anything close to that price for the Contemporary and that’s with AP discounts. Any deluxe for under $300 is tough to find. Typically, the best discount from any source outside of CM rates is 40%.

Special rate from a TA that cannot be mentioned on these boards. My first quote was Poly for $2331. I looked it up to make sure I wasn't remembering it incorrectly.

Uh... Have fun today, I suppose? Whatever floats your boat. I would happily pay $300, even for a reduced experience. As it is half of what I would normally pay-- so half price for half amenities seems fair. ;)

I will, thanks!
It was mainly an observation about how insane their rates are. I won't tell you what I am stuck with for Boardwalk next May, but it probably made my hair turn even more grey.

That’s been my opinion as well.

I don't think its ridiculous at all. Having only MK open and most resorts closed limits capacity. If you don't think that's happening then I have a bridge to sell you.

I figured it had to be some source outside of normal reservations. I’m aware of the source but don’t use TA’s and my schedule rarely aligns with their limited time frames. For general discounts, $300 is amazing. I promise you, if Disney offered that rate during “ normal” times, it would book in minutes.

Yes of course it would book quickly if everything would be normal. That was the point of my comment. I personally think it's too much for a reduced experience. I don't know why that isn't clear. But whatever, let's move on.

But what if this went on for several more months?

It’s up to the cm to take a look at their finances and decide if they can afford it, if they’re interested. But if the resorts actually are opening in June I don’t think it’d be several months til the parks open and most/all cm are working again.

Funny thing is chatter said those discounts died out the last couple years as Disney whittled then down to few offerings and not the discounts they used to be... now Disney doesn’t those massive room blocks sold off and are left holding the bag themselves...
