Plus, if universal are seen to be doing more to make guests and team members safe then disney will probably have to match those measures
Quite simply. Limit it to people onsite and with APs. And even then, turn people away once the parks are full for a day. It's happened many times before. Park is full, gates are closed.question is how do they do the 50%....vacas are booked and people payed....how do they tell some not to come? or am I missing something?
Reservations are wide open. I doubt they’re anywhere near 50% booked. I wish I knew the actual statistics, but I seriously doubt the majority of guests are on site on any given day. I’ve seen a park at capacity and half that would still be crowded, IMO. Regardless, if they go by the closure rules they have now, on site guests are the last to be blocked out.Good question. Its why encouraging people to rebook was a bad idea.
I would certainly hope so. There isnt much detail on how distancing will be maintained generally in parks, or transport or in shops there. It's basically theatre to make it look like they're doing something. These measures would be the bare minimum to open. I’m sure Disney will tweak these.
Well I agree it should be on the basis that they do not close again - but I cant see those guidelines being enough to prevent the 2nd wave as they are currently. They'll essentially be operating under the same guidelines and restrictions, watch. What I find interesting is some of the same people wanting WDW and UO to open up as soon as possible, are also the ones who want the least restrictions possible. If these companies are going to open up anything in June, it will be done in a manner that ensures they'll never have to close again. And it won't be anything like "normal" was before closure.
It's not explicit, but I imagine shop and food lines would also have those "social distance standing places". Transport is going to be tricky though.I would certainly hope so. If nothing extra is done then I definitely wouldn't feel safe visiting anytime soon.

They could wear African masks and the disney princesses could wear masquerade masks that match their outfits.I'm still trying to picture Jungle Cruise in a boat with social distancing and a skipper with a mask. Cross one thing off my FP+ list.
not sure anything but complete long term closures can prevent a 2nd wave....and that just isn't going to happen...its not realistic for any business big or small to do that. people wont do that..I am in NJ and the # of cars on the road each morning is slowly growing.Well I agree it should be on the basis that they do not close again - but I cant see those guidelines being enough to prevent the 2nd wave as they are currently.
I suspect the 50% limit is irrelevant anyway as I doubt they'll have enough guests wanting to go to hit 50%.
50% being of the absolute maximum as in new years day capacity levels I presume?
I think at this point .. if Disney opens up with modified experiences .. I would have to be offered a SIGNIFICANT discount to come down. I am already anticipating my mid June trip to be cancelled (either by Disney .. or by my own choice depending on a lot of things).I
Same here - booked for mid- late july, and no way we are going if epcot is closed.
In other news - homeschooling and my disboard time has been erratic, at best
Would have to buy our park passes may 16 for in order to book FPS
what is current ticket ( no package) refund/exchange policy ?
I believe we would have to use by Dec 31 2020? Is that correct ?
TIA !

And by significant I would mean something like:
1) Stay at a Disney resort in 2020 (while we have "modified experiences") and come to the parks FOR FREE for every day of your stay.
2) Don't cancel your existing Summer 2020 reservation and get a bounceback offer of 50% off any resort hotel (no restrictions) "later"
I mean .. if an entire park is closed or if "indoor" attractions aren't open or M&Gs are not available .. Disney will have to really entice non-locals to come to the parks for many many months once they re-open .. especially if air travel is still deemed "risky".
And if Disney has to offer huge discounts to get people back in the door, then do they bother opening at all until things are "normal"?
I’m sure Disney will have an inside track for these kinds of supply issues but I know it will be harder for a lot of smaller businesses. I know of someone running a golf course and club here hoping to open soon-ish but he is unable to track down a reliable and available supply of hand sanitizer. That's a lot of hand sanitizer they're gonna need!
Not sure how I feel about these guidelines. Kinda feels like doing just enough to justify trying to run the parks as close to normal as possible. I doubt it will be enough to actually protect from outbreaks.
I think airlines are a bit behind on implementing measures. I'm surprised governments havent done more to require action by the airlines - although with them all demanding bailouts anyway I assume they are perhaps using lack of action as a tool as part of bailout discussions. If it’s anything like how the airlines are going about it still, there will be no social distancing. Just keep on packing them in as there are seats available.
If Disney is trying to encourage non-residents to come, they're going to have to offer some incentive to keep reservations, especially if the modifications are significant. A great deal depends on if they limiit who can enter the parks- If it's only resort guests or resort guests and AP's they're even more likely to discount. If they decide to limit to residents only, there's no reason to discount. I know on the call, they were talking about Fl tourism in general when they said the first phase of marketing would be targeting residents- doesn't mean they'd block non-residents, but it may mean promotions won't be out for out of state. This of course wasn't Disney specific, so who knows.I think at this point .. if Disney opens up with modified experiences .. I would have to be offered a SIGNIFICANT discount to come down.
