I have not once given him grief for what happened to him or his daughter. I've said it was terrible and those kids should have been reprimanded, tossed, or even arrested. I understand how traumatic it probably was (and I'm not discounting that OP could be a troll since this was his first post), but I'm not going to excuse him for his racism.

What I see here is a bunch of people playing apologist for the OP and sugar coating what was said.

Can we just solve this by making sure YOU make your next trip in Jan, Feb or July so you can form your own opinion, put your kid in harms way and report back?:cool2:

I have been there at those times and never had a problem. My interactions with them have always been great. That said it doesn't mean there aren't some bad apples in the group, but I'm not going to generalize that thought across an entire nationality or race.

What's up with the excessive quotation sign usage and capitalizing that one word? Can I make assumptions based on that and spread that out over everyone you know?

I don't think you're in a position to make a judgement on item#1 and I think it's fair to say that the behaviour described in #2 has been shown to occur. If it happened then personally I don't care whether it's racist or not. That particular group needed to be put in their place and I'm happy to hear he did it even if only to a small degree.

If it didn't occur then hell he got his wish by involving you deep into an issue that isn't true. lol

We've always traveled in jan/feb. never have had a problem. Nobody was in harms way.

Groups of teens are seldom considerate of others when on outings. For that matter adults tend to act out too when traveling in groups.

I'm not saying there aren't issues. I saying that it isn't just South Americans. Americans have terrible tourist reps. I've been seriously embarrassed by my own.

So, assuming this occurred as described, Disney's security should (had better) be on this like flies on stink. With all of the cameras everywhere, and the bright green neon shirts as identifiers, I can not believe the individuals involved in this alleged altercation would be hard to track down.

Disney is a private, not public, park, and service can and should be denied to hooligans and miscreants. Race has nothing to do with anything relevant to OP's post. And, Disney, I would expect the same treatment of any nationality, skin color, or religious affiliation.

As for "cultural differences" and "kids will be kids" --back up. Have as good a time as you want to have--but remember that your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins. You may not take away my rights while enjoying yours. (Never mind civility and common decency and considering another person to be AT LEAST as important as you are...I won't get all hopelessly old fashioned on you all. :rolleyes:) Heck, I don't even let my kids (now grandkids) kick the seat in front of them on flights, and I have enough authority over them to prevent them from doing so when I tell them to STOP--so what the heck do *I* know?

Truth: For years I have read horror stories posted about the Brazilians. I have had former CMs share horror stories about the Brazilians. It is not racism to state, "they were Brazilians". It is a fact. They. Were. Brazilians. So, stop with the alleged racism baiting, okay? Bad behavior, indeed, CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR, can not be overlooked because one is of a different skin pigmentation or nationality, and reporting bad and/or criminal behavior, complete with a description of the individuals involved, is not racism.

Racism is PRE JUDGING based on skin color, ethnicity, etc. Surely we can tell the difference between pre-judgment and REPORTING?

No more ugliness, please. Call the police, OP, call your attorney, do what you have to do. Hug your daughter for this Grandma, and please don't let this ruin your trip. And please don't allow one group of BRAZILIANS to affect how you feel about all BRAZILIANS. It's one group--not a whole country. Good luck, and God bless.

You are talking to a dad who had a traumatic experience. Give him a break. You've said what you've had to say; now you're just arguing for the sake of arguing. Really. Have some sensitivity toward this family, please. Perhaps his language was strong. Most of ours would be also, if this happened to us. If you're the exception, then good for you.

Agreed. Actually, though, I think to call people that stampede a child for no other purpose, except for the craven and selfish pursuit of their own pleasure, is rather unfair to animals. Animals only stampede when provoked. To come back and start a fight? Beyond the pale.

Sorry we all wasted so much time responding to the poster(s) playing the race card. It's all so tiresome. :clown: So very, very tiresome.

I wish the child well, and hope the family is able to enjoy the rest of their vacation. I hope Disney upgrades them to whatever suite in whatever resort they desire, and Mickey and Minnie and all the Princesses stop by the suite and hug her. pixiedust:
 
Speaking of which, did the OP go file a report at guest services? If enough problems, especially potentially harmful problems, are identified then Disney is more likely to act on them.

ANYWAY OP, I would send a letter and an email to WDW. Be as specific as you can, so they can figure out which CMs were working in that area and get their input on what happened.

If more and more Disney customers complain wtih specific info -- like pictures perhaps-- Disney will have a better idea of the scope of the problem and can determine how best to address it. So the next time a bathroom is blocked by a mob of people, take a picture as you call for security. The next time a mob blocks a parade, take a picture and include it in your email to WDW.

OP, I think Disney needs to hear, loud and clear, what happened. And how it will effect your choice of when and where to travel in the future.

I think that perhaps, if everyone effected by mob behavior in WDW did the same thing, they might find a way to better deal with it.

And being that his daughter was hurt, I would imagine the CMs should have filed some sort of report. It would certainly be understandable if the OP were too concerned for the well being of his family to wait on line at guest services. But, in his shoes, I would most certainly do so now.

The camera play back indeed showed what i had explained along with many other families who came to our rescue That is not the issue here , I have an issue with Disney sweeping this under the rug I was told nicely they do not want to create any tension .they gave us a bunch of fast passes and that was it
Still waiting to hear what comes of it as they said I will be notified .Vacation is over

Too late.. the tension was created the minute that mob formed. Disney has a responsiblity to keep ALL its guests safe.

Don't let it end there. Take it up the corporate chain, and threaten to bring it to the newspapers.

This needs to stop.

Pgiglio67 - I too am one who would stew on this type of event for DAYS - oh heck, let's be real, it'd be MONTHS (don't ask me about the United airlines incident that I fought with them about for over 9 stinkin' months).

But I encourage you to focus on the little bit of good in the event, namely the number of other guests that came to your assistance and backed you up with the CMs. (I'm glad to hear there were people who came to your aid - I'm not sure I expect that in this day and age unfortunately.)

I know that's easy for me to say - it didn't happen to me. As I said, I know I would be just as pissed off as you and fighting just as hard as you are. But I also know from having been there in the past, that allowing yourself to get lost in the fight like this isn't good either...it can eat you up inside. I'm not saying give up the fight - be vocal with Disney about the problem and their need to fix it - but don't lose yourself in it.

All of this is just a suggestion. I could be totally off-base and out of line. I apologize if you think I am. Your call.

No you are right on rack.I am so pissed off. Why kiss there ***** . The only answer I have is MONEY and its sad but its true .
They are in the largest Fantasy business in the world.
 
The same thing happened to me on the way out of Epcot upon closing a large tour group with hands linked were running through the crowd knocking into people and pushing several small children on the ground. An elderly couple was walking in front of me and had no idea what was coming their way. The group continued to run at us and the elderly couple and I could see the hand writing on the wall. Two elderly people getting knocked to the ground and suffering some sort of injuries. The leader of the out of control knocked into me and I gave him a strong body check knocking him off balance and causing several of the others to fall on the ground. They immediately got up and confronted me. To my surprise a large group of other people came to my aid and it was ugly for a while until Disney security showed up. The elderly couple thanked me so much and I made two elderly friends that day. I had to say Disney security handled the situation well.
