Rude Mom @ Tink Run

or those irritating people who walk to the center of the row in the theater-type attractions and refuse to move further on because they want the "best" seats.

I accidentally on purpose step on those people's feet. :)

Rude behavior anywhere is inexcusable. But I have one sonsolation to offer the people reading this: If you think the behavior at WDW can be bad, you should see Disneyland Paris. And I've heard Hong Kong Disneyland is even worse.

As a parent, I am truly embarassed by other parents who insist that "the magic is for kids" and all adults should give up everything they might enjoy in order to make room for someone else's kids. Yes, adults like character time. Yes, adults like to watch parades. And why shouldn't they? You do not have a magical "front of every line at all times" pass just because you have kids. Sheesh. You make us all look bad.

And I know not all parents act like this either. :goodvibes Some are very nice and some people without kids are very rude. The thing is that you get use to having to defend your spot or your personal space from pushy rude people, so then you are defensive againest everyone. And it kills the magic real quick. I wish everyone would take the time to think how would I want to be treated in this situation and go from there. When did everyone quit saying THank you and Your welcome and Excuse me? :confused3

Is there any way of preparing for such an occaision, to TRY to help myself be prepared to maintain my composure? Not that the offending donkey wouldnt deserve it, Id just like my girls to learn by my good examples, not my temper tantrums

When we had someone step right in front of our kids while waiting for a parade last summer (not at WDW), I said very loudly, "Ma'am, I'm sure you can't possibly be this rude on purpose, but you've stepped right in front of my children who've been waiting here for half an hour already." I basically called her rude right to her face but very politely. She was so embarassed that she not only moved out of the way, but left the area (because everyone else heard she was being rude?). If she hadn't moved out of the way, I would have replied, also very loudly, "Oh, so you are being this rude on purpose?!"

That's the line I'm going to try on our next trip while waiting for parades, in lines, etc. Hopefully it will work then, too.

This morning at the rope drop at the castle, I witnessed another crazed have-to-do-it-all-at-all-cost mom dragging her kids along to the Tink shop for the Wake-The-Tink ritual...

You are right that is VERY RUDE! I mean unless its me dragging Kirk there kicking and screaming. :rotfl:

We incountered one of those crazy gotta run over people to get somewhere first people yesterday at AK. we decided since we weren't doing all of AK that we would let DS walk and not use the stoller. DS was walking with us through the crowd after the parade. When some lady in an EV comes barreling through the crowd and almost runs DS over. DH jumped to grab DS so he wouldn't get hurt and ended up twisting his knee so bad he couldn't walk at all last night and we ended having to rent an EV at MK for MVMCP.

HINT TO EV DRIVERS - Watch out for small children and peoples feet!

Good for you. :cheer2:

I think most act rude because they don't think anyone will call them on it.

I think when we go next year I am going to try out at tip I got here. Someone posted that they use a groundcloth or blanket to mark out their family's spot for parades. Apparently it is a little too bold for some people to roll up another persons blanket to make room for themselves. I'm really hoping this works. :flower: If it doesn't I will make myself heard! :teeth:

I think that most of the people who behave in this manner really are not thinking at all. They simply have an objective, and proceed to go after it. I am sorry to believe that the people who need to be reminded that they are rude never even gave it any thought at all.

I have done Disney Kamikazi style but, one I was by myself and I didn't run into anyone or cut off anyone. I think you can walk fast and be a person with pixie dust. There are people who get caught up in the moment and totally forget about the people around them. They have paid alot of money to get there and they are going to get their moneys worth. That might be the only trip that they will ever take or they are people who are only looking at the money part. I think if you are the latter then why be there. You are not really going to enjoy anything so why wast the money.

I'm sure your husband can attest to this but those things do NOT stop on a dime. It is no excuse for people driving like maniacs but I can attest from experience (sprained ankle at AK) that far more people and little kids run in front of these EV's, get too close (causing me to run over their toes because I can't see them), block my view to exhibits because I can't get out of the cart, etc.

I am fortunate that I am able bodied and don't have to use these all the time but that one day was an eye opener. So I would say to EV drivers, watch your speed. To everyone else, watch where you are going, give EV drivers some room to manuver and watch your kids.

I took DD2 to see Tink in her drawer. She stood there for like 5 minutes just giggling and laughing everytime she sees Tink in the keyhole. Captured her expression one of the times -
