Rude Mom @ Tink Run

All I have to say is, some people :confused3 :sad2:

But don't forget, what goes around, comes around. Those parents who were pushing people to get to the front of the crowd, will probably be the ones being pushed at one point. Maybe then they will see the err of their ways.

Maybe waking Tink up should be stopped and a CM do it at some point in the day. Then it would be one less thing in the morning for people to scramble to and let people just enjoy the walk down Main Street USA.

We were there last week, and as much as I would have loved for my DDs to wake Tink it was just too crowded. How in the World could you ever explain to your children that Waking Tink is "worth" knocking over anyone in your path to get there first? I just can't fathom that. I really think my kids would ask me about it if I behaved so badly!

We have never gone around a Holiday before, and although we really did get to do everything we wanted to by taking our time and using Fast Passes, etc., I'm now realizing that the Magic starts to wane when there are so many people around and it's probably because you see more of this type of behavior. I don't know if it's caused by the crowds or caused by a higher percentage of jerks with more people, but it's just Sad.

I have never taken my kids to the Tink wake up call but after reading so many posts here in the past few months, I really think Disney should stop this.I don't want to take away from any little one who enjoys this but maybe there is another solution. Maybe Disney could have everyone come to Tinks store at opening time, and they could have maybe Peter Pan wake her up, that would be much more civilized and I think the kids would really get a kick out of seeing one of their favorite characters first thing in the morning, and there wouldn't be a mad rush to be the first one there to wake her up.

No, but then there'd probably be a mad rush to get the best view in the store, and people would still get pushed around.

Unfortunately, I don't think there'll be a solution--rude people will always find something to be rude about. Unless we can declare open season on them ...

This kind of behavior by parents is so sad. Focusing on what you can get at any cost may get you some things but actually you end up with very little.
I feel sorry for their kids who may never learn that when you live a life of grace and giving you find yourself living a brilliant and beautiful life.

WHY should Disney stop this? Will it stop rude people? I think not. These are probably the same people who wait until 5 minutes before a parade and then plop themselves in front of a wheelchair bound person to get a better view, or those irritating people who walk to the center of the row in the theater-type attractions and refuse to move further on because they want the "best" seats. They are the same people who run for the tram in the parking lots, refuse to listen to directions of the tram operators, and take up seats that elderly, or infirmed persons could have had (making them wait for the next tram). And they are the same people who wouldn't give up a seat on a bus for an elderly person, or a pregnant woman, or a mom with young children. They're everywhere-just look around you. Maybe Disney should close the park, and entry will be allowed to people who can prove they're polite! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Your right! I didnt even think about that, that everyone going to wake Tink would be trampled by the Peter Pan lovers! Its so sad that adults have to act this way, but I do like your idea about the open season!

Stopping the Tink wakeup wouldn't stop any of the rude behavior. My daughter's toe is broken due to the rudeness of people with strollers. In a span of about three days the toe was run over in the same spot by two different rude people and their strollers. One was a personal jogging stroller and one was a double Disney stroller. Just another example of rude behavior leading to problems for other guests.

Your right, rude people are everywhere, My friend shattered her knee and now walks with a cane, not one person on the subway or bus here in NYC offered her a seat the past 3 times she had to go into the city. Theres something wrong with the way these people were raised, its not that hard to be polite!

I was there the morning of 12th November. The rope was across the back of the castle. In front of us was a woman with a stroller. The girl in it was probably about my DS5's age, not sure if she needed the chair for a disability, or had it to save tired legs. The mother was completely strung out, getting really ratty with everyone around her, defending her spot and the poor kid was so unhappy. The rope drops, me and DS are off (strolling casually I might add!) to the Pooh ride, and this woman just mows down everyone with the stroller heading towards Dumbo I think, this poor little girl was screaming fit to burst, naturally my son being ever so tactful, was "Why is that lady making her little girl so unhappy?" in his loudest voice. I did try to explain the best I could. But we kind of got mowed down by the families rushing to Dumbo, and to see Tink!! Wow! Don't stand in the middle, as you get them from both sides! Having said that, we had an awesome time on the rides in Fantasyland, we walked straight on everything (we left Dumbo for the over-achievers I might point out!) I understand why people get there early, but I don't think you really need to stampede.

You've never seen a stampede at Disney, until you've been there at opening on a day where they're releasing a limited edition pin. I swear, I just wanted to stick my foot out ever so subtely (over course I didn't!). I don't understand the mania for some metal junk made in China.

what goes around, comes around
Unfortunately, this is often not the case. My feeling is that if these folks don't derive any personal satisfaction from being civilized, community-minded members of society, then they'll generally have no incentive, in the short-term or the long-term, to behave differently.

I am so sorry about your dd's toe! I have had a broken foot and a toe and that toe hurt way more and took longer to heal! I had my toenail literally ripped off at Disneyland by a too young kid pushing her sibling in a stroller and not looking where she was going. She said she was sorry and the parents felt terrible and I couldn't get mad when they were so apologetic but man did that hurt! Every time I pass that stretch of Adventureland at DL my toe gives a little twitch!

Now, there's no reason to insult other's hobbies.

Maybe the CM's should go out into the crowd that is waiting and quietly pick a child to wake up Tink that way getting there first wouldnt be enticing.

I cant stand people who feel like its OK to shove because after all THEY are the most important people around. I also think that some people figure they are never going to see you again so what if they are rude to you.

A strong argument could be made for practically every significantly-limited special experience -- that they should deliberately and explicitly ration each and every one, either by explicit lottery or via surcharging for the experience (a la for Illuminations cruises), and have none structured so as to have any chance of the experience going to the fastest or pushiest guest.

I was surprised how many people do know about waking up Tink when my girls got to wake her up last month. We had gotten to the castle right when the rope was dropping. My started walking towards Tinks but there was a family with a little girl right in front of us and I knew that they were headed in there to wake up tink. My girls were a bit ahead of dh, the baby and I but I wasn't going to hurry because I knew we would just be watching which was ok with me. But when I got in there, the mom of the little girl was insisting that my girls woke up Tinkerbell with her daughter. That was so sweet!

Since I don't do rollercoasters, I spend plenty of time "watching" and decided two weeks ago that I don't think Disney has changed, as much as "society" has changed. You're right. There were literally parents dragging kids, people running pushing strollers, etc. Either these families always live like that and it's "normal" for them to "zoom" through life, or these kids were not having a great time. I also thought people to be unusually rude, and in overhearing many conversations, complaining awfully about stuff Disney has absolutely NO control over.

I think society is the same as it has always been. You just see a wide spectrum of society compressed into a small space. We took my kids when they were small, and I had spent a great deal of time teaching them manners and courtest toward others. Access to the characters happened when they wandered thru the park, as 20 years ago, there were only 2 character meals. I was appalled at the parents pushing their kids thru anyone in order to see the characters. Dangerous to the children in line as well as the poor characters! I always wondered how these parents felt when they were pushing little ones out of their path in order to gain their objective. Sad!

Well, I wouldn't say that it is the same as it "has always been" but rather that the change isn't recent. I think things have been pretty consistent since the early 1980s, but before that I believe things had gradually changed over a period of twenty years or more.
