... Even on a day when there is early entry for the Disney hotel guests and you're not one of them!
We were there this past Thursday and the park didn't open for general admission till 10am. We were at the park gates at 9:15am. We were let in the park at about 9:45am. Rope drop was at 10am and the crowd was walked back to carsland at 10am. We stayed to the far right and despite the fact that there were Disney hotel guests already in the park, we managed to get on RSR by 10:20am! We rode the ride (which is AWESOME) and then ran over to the fast pass line and were able to get a fast pass for return at 6:30 pm. I'd say about 10 minutes after that, the RSR fast passes were
gone for the day. I think luck has a little to do with this, but the "right side technique" definately helps to move through the crowds at rope drop :)

I can confirm it still does work! I did however hear cast members actually telling the crowd to move to the right side before red however. They also beefed up the cast members on the right hand side as well to stop possible rushing. Seems as if they are very aware of this.

My best tip would be to go into the single rider queue right away. My whole family were able to ride in less then 4 minutes. As the ride seats 3 per row and it often means they are constantly looking for 1 person. I was able to ride it twice in less then 25 minutes this way.

I would say my biggest disappointment would have been watching the RSR fast pass line growing so quickly even before the rope drop, due to hotel guests. That line had grown all the way to the non early entry fast pass line (very long line). There is also a break in the fast pass line that hotel guests use, and I watched a large hand full of rope droppers cut in line ahead of the rope drop fast pass queue. It was just nuts.

It was odd watching the rope drop crowd almost mow down the hotel guests just casually strolling down the Cars Land Streets. I saw a few parents with toddlers and strollers panic. If you are a Disney Hotel guest, I would really keep a eye on your watch if your planning on being in this area. Be in a line or out of the way.

My fast pass family member also grabbed a WOC fast pass immediately after, over by Grizzly River Run! Worked great. With the two most important fast passes of the day secure, we had a very successful day in the park.

wide right worked for me too :thumbsup2 Then I rode again with single rider line--pretty much a walk on both times

Luigi waited 30 min and mater waited about 10 min later in the day

lines were short almost everywhere else and I used fastpass for Soarin and Grizzly

This makes my day to hear!! We'll be there from Oct. 5th to the 8th, with only two full days -- plus our last morning which is Columbus Day. Since we're doing DL on the Saturday, that leaves only Sunday for CA, which is a hotel guest EMH or EE or whatever it's called there. I was afraid DS & I wouldn't get to ride RSR at all, even with trying the wide-right technique. I have hope now! Thanks OP! :goodvibes

We're going soon as well but have one question I hope you can answer for a WDW vet who is not as familiar with the DCA layout...once you enter the turnstiles at DCA, where is rope drop and what path did you take to RSR?

Thanks so much!

PJ

Cars Land is pretty much straight ahead once you get through the gates. Once you pass turnstiles, just go straight ahead. Also try to familiarize yourself with park layout b4 you go. I found a DL parks map app for my iPhone and I'm sure there must be one for androids too. ;)

Thanks! We have the apps ready to go! :)

Was this on single rider? We were there this week and used early entry. When we got off before regular park opening, the line was already through most of the queue.
