Royal Plaza and Rent Car

We have friends who are picking up a rent car at the Royal Plaza. I understand they have their own bus service to the parks. Can our friends take the Royal Plaza bus from a park back to the hotel to pick up their rent car? Does anyone know where the Royal Plaza bus picks up/drops off at Magic Kingdom?

Would it be better if they went to Downtown Disney and walked over?

Only Disney buses are allowed to use the bus depot at the MK. The Royal Plaza bus will stop at the TTC instead.

Assuming you want to go to get the car from the MK, it would be a simple thing to take the bus from the Contemporary (just walk over there from the MK) to DTD and walk over the the Royal Plaza.
