I really like the idea about the PM and I love the idea of the "how to care for me list " with each stroller.:thumbsup2

To date this is what all of use have come up with pertaining to the swap.

#1. We were put on TGM with a direct link to our swap. We contacted the owner of that site and asked that it be removed because of the problems we were having.

#2. We are going to laminate rules of the swap and to attach to the strollers.

#3. A duffle bag with a lamenated checklist of accessories is going to be attached to the stroller to hold all of the accessories....I will make sure each stroller has all of the accessories before implimenting this one.

#4. Monthly PM's will go out to swappers so we can eliminate swappers who aren't active on DISBOARDS and just seeking a cheap "rental" stroller. If they haven't read the PM in 10 days, I will email them that will might be removed from the swap if I don't get a response. If an email bouncesback, goes unanswered or passes the time frame, the swapper will be removed. As to swappers knowing it is from this swap, my account is DISBOARDS.ROYAL.CARRIAGE.SWAP@ GMAIL.COM. Anyone who is in this swap will definitely recognize this email address and know it is our swap.

#5. Pictures and phone calls the day a swapper arrives-it must be on the day they arrive-if there's any damages. My number is on each stroller and if I am not home, I have an answering machine...please leave a message.

#6. If a stroller is left in Luggage Services, a picture with the claim ticket visible will have to be taken so we know the stroller went into luggage services without damages. Several angles preferably so you will be covered incase damages happen in Luggage Services.

If permitted by the higher ups:
- Require a deposit from all swappers OR
- Require a deposit if the swapper has less than 50 posts
- Require a deposit if the swapper is newer than 3 months on the DIS
- Require that a swapper contact Parkers*Momma (or Nelep) IMMEDIATELY if they receive a stroller that has anything wrong with it - or they will be held accountable and will loose their deposit/fraction of their deposit to cover the replacement part needed to fix the stroller/replace an accessory. ("accountability" would then require that ALL swappers make a deposit)

OR
-require a minimum of 50 posts before they are allowed to join
-require a minimum of 3 months before they are allowed to join.

These are the rules that I came up with that will be attached to each of the strollers.

RULES WHILE YOU HAVE THE STROLLER

***The day you pick up the stroller if you notice any damage, please immediately call me at 419-XXX-XXXXor 419-XXX-XXXX to report it and take pictures of the damage. If no one answers, leave a message on the answering machine. This has to be done your first day or you will be held accountable for the damages.

***Please take a few minutes at the end of your stay to wash the padding in the stroller and wipe down the handle, foot rest, ect.. Brush out any crumbs from the seat area. This will be greatly appreciated by the next swapper plus help in the long term care of the stroller.

***No drinking of soda or juice in the strollers. It is ok to give your child a drink of your soda or juice but it isn’t ok to give them the cup/bottle to carry around in the stroller. The base seat can not be removed to be cleaned. If something is spilt in the stroller it will stain the seat or make it sticky for the next swapper.

***No eating items such as chocolate, mickey bars, Dole Whips, etc. in the stroller. Popcorn, crackers, French fries without ketchup are fine. Anything that can be brushed or vacuumed out…nothing that is smeary or sticky. Again these items can stain the seat and leave it in poor condition for the next swapper.

***If using the seatbelts, please don’t over tighten them or allow your child pull on the straps. This causes the backboards to break.

***Never allow your child to stand up in the stroller this includes when getting in the stroller. Not only is it a safety issue for your child, it causes tears down the seat and stepping on the reclining backrest breaks the boards. Pick up your child and sit them in the stroller.

***When going over curbs, tilt the stroller back on the rear wheels and place the front wheel on the curb. Once the front wheel is safely on the curb, lift the back of the stroller up and place it on the curb. Ramming over a curb damages the wheels and axles.

***When going down a curb, lift the front of the stroller and place it down on the street. Then you can slowly roll the back wheels over the curb. Again, just bouncing the front wheel over the curb damages the axle and the casing that holds the axle.

***Use great care when going down Main Street as the trolley rails are located on the street. If the stroller wheel drops down in the rail it can cause the wheel to be damaged.

***Absolutely NO GUM, GUMMY BEARS, OR TAFFY!

***Check before turning the stroller over or taking it to luggage services that everything is with the stroller, mainly the front cross bar.

***On the duffle bag that is attached to the stroller is a complete list of accessories. Make sure each item is in the bag and it is zipped close.

***If leaving the stroller in Luggage services, please take a picture of the stroller. In that same picture, please include the claim ticket number. You can lay it on the seat, the shade, etc., this way if there is damage while in Luggage Services, we will know when/where it happened. It is suggested that you take shots from different angles to cover your interest in the stroller.

***NEVER leave a stroller in your room the day you leave. NEVER let bell services pick up the stroller from your room. NEVER let Disney transport the stroller to another resort. When joining the swap, you agreed to this and you must personally take the stroller to the incoming swappers resort.

Am I missing anything with the rules that will be attached to the stroller? I'm going brain dead right now....lol

I will add this, periodically I PM unpaid swappers. What I thought about doing is PM'ing everyone once a month...a quick "hi, and a few things about the swap plus a few reminders." type of thing. there is this magically little box I can click on each PM I send "Request a read receipt for this message" which lets me know if a PM has been read- it doesn't even have to be answered, it will just show me that the swapper is current on the boards if they read the PM. If it isn't read within 10 days, I could send an email to the email address provided when a swapper signs up. If it bounces back, ignored, or no reply within another 10 days, a swapper would be removed from a swap. What does everyone think of this idea. This might help or at least remind everyone of their responsibilities towards the swap.

What does everyone think of this?

I think this is a good idea. If someone hasn't read a PM within 10 days, then they most likely aren't active on the boards. Someone that's not active on the boards probably doesn't care one way or another if they get a bad rep for trashing a stroller. I don't post everyday but I always log on and read through new posts.

Parkers*Momma - you should add something about the weight limit. Make it #2 or #3 on the list:

The TOTAL weight limit for this stroller is 100 lbs. with an individual seat weight limit of xx lbs. PLEASE DO NOT EXCEED THE WEIGHT LIMIT AT ANY TIME or you will damage the stroller.

Everyone- Did you all see the new sticky thread at the top of the budget boards???? What exactly does this mean??? Please everyone read it- it involves everyone on the swaps. All of these discussions about deposits and the like may be a mute point!!!!

Wow.. with all the problems lately, It looks like this swap will have to end soon given the new guidelines. :( parkers*momma please update us on where this swap stands. I would think we could continue at least for the next few months.

!!! PLEASE READ!!! Important News Regarding Swaps & Shares!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has always been a rule on the DIS that anything involving money changing hands between members was not permitted on the boards. With that in mind, a decision has been made to end all swaps and shares that include money passing between DISers.

What does this mean?
Beginning today, all Photopass shares are over on the DIS. No new Photopass shares can be started.
Threads for existing Photopass shares will be locked on Friday of this week. Any new threads will be deleted beginning today.
Fridge and stroller swaps that are free can continue. However, if a refrigerator/stroller is lost or damaged, the swap leader cannot collect money from members to replace the lost/damaged item. Swaps may continue if an item is donated for the use of subsequent share members.
No new fridge or stroller swaps will be permitted to start unless the fridge/stroller is a donated item and the swap if free to all participants.
Any fridge or stroller swap that is not free to new members will be closed on Friday of this week. This will allow those leaders of swaps that are currently collecting money to decide whether they are willing/able to offer their swap for free. On Friday, any swap threads that are not free will be locked and their links will be removed from the sticky threads.

If there are questions or concerns, I'll be around most of the day to address them. Send me a PM or post it here.

I just read through a ton of pages and was going to respond in one post when I got to the end and then saw the last post about ending the swaps!

It makes me so sad that a few bad apples have spoiled the bunch so to speak. I was ready to leave a message about how sorry I was for all the trouble this has been for ParkersMomma and her right hand Nelep. I thought your current list of suggestions was a good fix. I was even going to add that the duffel was a great idea that way if someone coming down wished to add an accessory they could just put it in the bag (I was planning on buying the cup holder for the stroller) I also was going to say maybe throwing a few shout wipes in there would be a good idea.

I am so shocked right now that they are being shut down! All of your work and then it turns out like this?

Well....I cannot see how the swap can continue and have safe and sound strollers. It was always the new swappers tiny donation that made it possible to keep the strollers up and running. Look at what has happened over the last week. The swaps would all be kaput because all of the strollers needed something pretty major fixed!!!
Parkers*Momma this is heart breaking news to me. Please keep us all posted as to what is going to happen.:sad2:

The powers that be have ensured that the few have spoilt it for the many........

I am pretty shocked at this latest development:sad2: Not only do I think iit really sad that there will be no more stroller swaps (and let's face it, the Disney stroller prices are barely affordable), but I also feel for Parkers*momma. Reading this thread for the last week or so, I have seen how much time and effort she has spent on keeping these swaps going.

I was annoyed/sad about all the issues with the strollers, but now I truly feel saddened. All that work and heart-blood shouldn't have led to this!:sad1:

oh wow, this is just... this is so sad!!!! how a few can spoil it for the many and now all of us who are trying to be affordable, kind, generous and respectable can no longer do so...

Parkers*momma, please let us know where we stand on the swap and if we can help in anyway. maybe we can do a separate board elsewhere where we can keep up with this or for those of us committed to keeping the strollers nice and clean and well cared for can go into a email pool of sorts to take care of the details??

so disheartened by the turn of the events here...

At the moment I think that it is imperitive that Parkers*Momma has a current email address and phone number for everyone.
When I questioned the moderator about still PMing people in an existing swap it was strongly suggested not to. That all communication should be done via email or phone.

Wow, add me to the list of shocked

I'm sorry it came to this, too.

i agree 100%, should we PM email and phone numbers to be sure they are up to date and current?

I am shocked as well. I guess this thread will be locked soon. If you are before or after me for Stroller #2... My dates are May 20-May 31. Please pm me again and we will make sure we are all set. I will go look at my private messages and see if I have you both saved and I will send my email address to you. Let's hope this swap holds up for the next few months. We leave 1 month from today. :)

I know I am not the only one counting on this for my first trip to Disney world with three kids. I am also not the only one to offer to whatever I need to help those who are also relying on this. I am new to this, but parkers*momma, you have support if you need help to provide for those who are already committed to keeping this swap going.

Not well known, but willing to help.

But what about those of us who aren't going in the next few months? I'm not going for about 7 months and I know how much damage there was to the strollers when people were "paying" to use them. I can't even imagine they will last even a few months being free. There will be no accountability. I'm very sad that this has happened. I guess we're back to bringing a stroller on the airplane. Good Luck to all. I hope everything works out for you guys. Thanks again parkers*momma for all of your hard work.

I am absolutely shocked. I can't believe that a couple of bad swappers could cause this. Maddi - if there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.

Hi all. I am shocked, to say the least, and very disappointed in the DISboards for their decision.

I would suggest that each of you post your comments to the thread that advises all swaps are discontinued. Perhaps if they hear how disappointed you all are, they may make some revisions to the policy.

As for the Royal Carriage swap, I spoke with Parkers*Momma regarding the recent development. She is at work and unable to access the board at this time. But you can bet her fingers will be flying as soon as she gets home.

She will do everything she can to keep the RC swap going as long as possible, including making it a free swap to abide by the recent restrictions. So everyone, sit tight until she gets home. AND PLEASE POST YOUR COMMENTS TO THE THREAD BELOW:
