Royal Carriage Stroller Swap Part 2--closed

I just got a text from RaeNYNY that RC5 is broken.

This is all I know:
- When you unfold it, it is missing a screw so it slips out easy (I think we knew that already anyway)
- The bar that connects the back to the top bar was just hanging on & then broke.

I'm going to PM Maddi now.

Laural

OK....The bar that connects the back to the top bar was just hanging on & then broke...I'm so not seeing this. Is this a side bar? I've PMd you my home phone number. :)

OK, if it isn't fixable...it looks as though it is only going to affect one swapper. I can move all the remaining swappers to #2....please call me as soon as your Dh can determine the condition of the stroller. If I have to move everyone...I will at that point and ask Sandra to pick up broken #5 for me.

And if by chance he can fix it for just one more week (crossing fingers) that will get both swappers covered. If not, then I'm going to have to drop a swapper. Man I hate doing that!

OK, I'll just keep checking on here to see what's happening with the strollers. I see #5 now has new people both before and after my trip.

I will need to contact them to make new arrangements but will wait until I hear back from Maddi.

Sorry to add more bad news, but maybe this will help the swap somehow- hopefully. My husband just lost his job today:sad2: Since we do not know what will happen we have cancelled our trip for next week. I am so sick to my stomach. I felt so bad telling the kids. The two little ones (4 and 2) probably will just forget, but my older one are really sad and scared now, too since this has immediately affected "their world". I would have liked to keep things as normal for them as possible but this is unavoidable. Of course Disney is the least of our concerns right now since his is our only income, but I wanted to let you guys know right away. Sorry if I am rambling. I am a mess right now.

I can so relate to this as my DH was laid off just before we left. We decided since everything was paid for and we would lose so much just to go. But we did have my income to fall back on.

As hard as it is, you are making the right decision for your family at this moment. Disney will be there for years to come and it will be much more enjoyable when you don't have the gray cloud hanging over your head while you are there.

sorry to hear about rc5 and momto3dizkidz. Hopefully rc#2 will be good for Thanksgiving. Let me know if i need to contact anyone - it looks like no one before or after me.:confused3

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this.

My DH lost his job last October. Since his is the only income, too, I was really worried. However, he did find a new job a month later and he likes it much better than before. So there was a silver lining for us.

I hope he finds a new job that he enjoys even more, soon.

oh no, momto3dizkids, I am sooooooo sorry. That must be such an awful place to be in right now. Your family will be in my prayers. I will be praying he finds a better, higher paying job, and quickly.

Ug, after such news, I hate to even bring up the swap logistics, but I am the other swapper who had the broken stroller (#5) for the same exact days that momto3dizkids had it.

Maddi, do I just use #2 and stroller sit for the broken one? It looks like Laural has both of them just before me - and we've arranged the swap to take place between her and I already for the broken stroller - so I could easily pick up #2 also and keep them both. I have her cell, I am sure you do too so I am sure she could be contacted...but obviously not until you confirm the plan. What do you think?

I am new to Dis Boards and I just read about stroller swaps. What a fabulous idea!! We just got home from WDW and took our own stroller but my friend rented one for 161.00 and then complained the whole time about how she had to lug her kids and stuff into the park each day. WDW strollers are a huge pain and so expensive.... We spent 15-20 minutes of each EMH waiting for her to get a stroller. I wish I would have known about stroller swaps before our trip!!

On second thought, I probably shouldn't have suggested BOTH strollers (unless it's really needed!) - we are at the Pop without a rental car so getting one delivered to the next swapper will be a juggling act, but totally doable. I would worry that 2 might end up just plain not happening due to lack of time and ability without a car...and we all know what happens to strollers at the Pop in luggage services :sad2:. Don't want to do that option!

But even if I only take one, I'd still need to know which one I will actually be taking on the 7th.

I am so sorry momto3dizkidz big hugs to you! :grouphug::grouphug:

we just had to cancel our trip next year, we just dont have the funds and probably wont be able to save enough to cover the cost. but hey, at least when we do get to go again there will be some new attractions and we wont b worrying the whole time what we have spent.

So RC#5 is broken? UGH... there was an issue with a screw when we had it and DH tightened it, but you could still guide it into place and it was sturdy and usable. Let us know how it goes and what is going on. i hope we make it to the end of the swaps!

Yall have a wonderful Halloween!!

the screw came undone but that is a minor issue. The bar that goes between the seats and hooks to the frame itself is completely snapped off. So it is a definite un-fix unless we have a welder. There are many things we pack for our trips-usually way more than we need, but a welder isn't one of them! :lmao:

So #5 is being retired and everyone was moved to #2.

4 more swappers--just 4 more and we have made it to the last swapper and one of our older swapper...MWATSON.

fingers crossed...we are going to make it!

As for the vacations...I have one booked for two weeks next year but I'm thinking of down scaling to 10 days...maybe more. It's depressing how tanked the economy has become.

Holly...first off:grouphug: I am in the same shoes as you and some of the other fellow members here. DH has been looking but nothing as of late.
I am trying to keep my chin up. My two DD's are teens and are very aware of what is happening.
I think we need to start a new thread and use it as our support group.
:thumbsup2
If you need to vent or just chat feel free to PM me!!

Right there with ya. Dh still hasn't been able to find anything in out remote area. And the worse part...he is trying to be helpful (or trying to drive me crazy) as he keeps re-arranging things to "help out" OMG! Nothing like reaching for something in the middle of the night and it has been moved to the opposite end of the room. But then again, he has been great at laundry (well sort of...I guess you can mix whites with blues/blacks...not my choice way of doing laundry-I hate grey panties and socks) but at least he is taking over most of the household chores. Plus we have a really clean garage and the yard looks awesome.

They keep saying the recession is over...excuse me, come to NW Ohio...it's not over here. :confused3

Any luck on your Dh's surgery? Or is that postponed too?

thanks Maddi!

I just sent email to Countrygirl and Happygirlagain so we can try to work something out!:thumbsup2
