Royal Carriage Stroller Swap Part 2--closed

I just got a text from Disneycountrygirl. Looks like their plans have changed and they are doing the Christmas party tonight and then dropping off the stroller at Contemporary after it is over. (I assume/hope Luggage Services will be open after midnight??)

She said the stroller is working fine but the front wheel was loose so they tightened it.

The stroller 'final countdown' has begun!

Marshay you can text the information to me when you drop off the stroller so that way i will have the information in writting.

Sorry, I don't have a texting plan and do not text to others since they charge me for each message I send/receive. My phone is not text-friendly and I hate having to hit a key 3 times to get the letter I want.

However, I will call you and leave a vcml message if you are not there.

I am back to the DIS boards finally. Sorry if my absence caused problems. I just haven't been able to function at all until recently- lost 9 pounds, couldn't eat, sleep or stop shaking. I just read through all the good wishes and hugs and want to thank everyone for that. My husband has two interviews this coming week, with one being an opportunity he is REALLY interested in. So, please keep your good thoughts and prayers coming. We could use them.

I am back :)

We had a great trip. The only "issue" was a bit of tension among the adults the first couple days due to my unruly 4 year old nephew and different ideas on how to deal with his ADD behavior (as his parents weren't with us- it was hubby and I, and the grandmas!) :):). The tension dissolved as soon as we all turned over full discipinary responsiblity to hubby. Kids seem to respond so much better to males for some reason! A little walk n chat worked beautifully in getting him to respond. So from that point, we had a lot of fun :thumbsup2.

Laurel was so nice in creating such a pretty and functional sign for the stroller, laminated and all. I ended up taping Marshay's info on the sign and reusing it.

The stroller held up beautifully. The front wheel did start wobbling and DH took it to guest services, obtained the necessary tools, and tightened it, and it was back to normal.

At one point in the trip, while the stroller was folded up on the bus, I noticed the canvas at the bottom of the stroller had developed a tear that didn't impact the functionality in any way, shape or form. I don't know if it was there and I didn't notice or if it had happened on our trip. At one point while DH was pushing I noticed the bottom snap that holds the extra stuff had come undone (too much stuff under there) and it was dragging on the ground, I snapped it back in place, but it may have happened then. I put packing tape around the tear, which doesn't do anything except perhaps hold any fraying at bay, but honestly, even if it frayed 100% and the stiff board fell out (which that's not even remotely close to happening - it would have to tear like 3 more inches on each side), functionality would not be impacted, and I don't think canvas is likely to fray/tear by itself like that, so we should be OK, and if it did happen on our trip, I am soooo sorry!!!!!!

It was kindof funny because at midnight our last night, I ran the stroller over to the Contemporary (just ran across the street). I literally sprinted back to the busses and arrived breathless, but I missed it by about 30 feet! UG. Oh well, it made it, and I got in some good aerobic exercise :).

Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this stroller swap. We literally could not have done it without it. So many times the 4 year old fell asleep in the stroller. It was such a nice one to push also - so smooth.

I just called Marshay. She has the stroller and the ziploc with all the accessories - rain cover, etc. She says it's working well and they are having fun, and that her DH duct taped up some parts of the stroller just for extra reinforcement, but she doesn't know where all since he did it. (Probably the spot on the bottom, I'd guess - I would have used duct tape if I'd had some :))

Well, I'm glad to hear that the stroller held up for you. Having both of them, I can say that I liked the action of the stroller that I left for DisneyCountryGirl better than the one I left for Momto3dizkidz (the broken one). The wheels are larger and the locking mechanism was nicer. But I liked the cupholder better on the broken one, which is why we ended up using it the whole week. (and when I say "broken" - I should be saying "repaired by my handy DH")

Holly - Good Luck and lots of pixiedust: for your DH on his interviews.

I'm going to try to post a picture of my kids in the stroller. I could NOT have done this vacation without it. And comparing against the rental strollers, this was a Cadillac. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I hope there are stroller swaps around for my next family vacation (probably in two years - it takes us that long to save up!)

This first picture shows the comparison of RC5 against the Disney Rental stroller. Sedan vs. Mini. And this is the double stroller from Disney. You shoulda seen the single that she rented the previous day!

My Aunt finally saw the light and used RC2 for the other 2 parks: (and for those wondering, my cousin is tall, but she is light (only about 40 lbs). My girls still have their BBB tiaras.

So glad to hear everyone had a good time and that the strollers are still holding up!!! YAY!!

We used Laurel's sign, too!! Thanks for making one!

DH fixed the bottom of the basket so that it is no longer dragging on the ground. It is now tight and can easily hold lots of stuff.

However, the seat needed to be sewn again. There was no sewing kit in the spare parts but thankfully my DH brought his personal one (gotta love a man who sews since I don't!!). He did a quick job and he thinks it should hold out for the final swappers.

We put duct tape in the stroller and DH also taped the spare parts bag to the stroller so it wouldn't get separated.

We Clorox wiped and Lysol sprayed the stroller after we were done since my family was getting over colds. We encountered a lot of people with colds/coughs, etc in the parks. I assume it's just the season for it.

I called happygirlagain tonight to let her know the claim ticket #/location. She'll pick it up on Friday and I assume all will be well.

The stroller was a life-saver for us. Both of our girls ended up sleeping in it by 8pm. Our DD4 loved having her 8mo sis next to her (and vice versa). The baby would fall asleep on top of my older daughter; and DD4 would put her arm around the baby. They got many "ahhh, so cute" comments. It was adorable and looked like those commercials on tv.

Thanks Maddi for the use of the stroller. I really don't know how we would have done it without a double stroller. Now I want one for home!

Thanks for the update and fixing up the stroller for the final swapper.

WOW...can you believe we made it?!?! More on that soon! I've got to head to work but

Welcome back and talk to everyone more tonight.

Just wanted to let you all know, I have the stroller from all star music. I told them I was there to get the instep stroller and they knew of it right away. They said it was about to go to lost and found. But I have it now, and I have the few things that we're left in the basket. The sunscreen bottle got opened, so now I have to clean the stuff from the bag. I did toss the clorox wipes into my bag swap, since that's something some people have mentioned needing.

Fill me in on what I need to do next. Are you going to make it back to florida maddi?

I hope that the last swapper enjoys the RC stroller as much as we did on our trip:thumbsup2
I cannot believe that the swap is over.:sad2:
I hope that everyone has a happy and healthy holiday season.

umm was I supposed to pick up stroller number 2 yesterday?? Or did that person take it back home with them?? I know Maddi has other things on her mind, so I'm hoping some here knows, like Laura???

Wow, we made it to the end. It's AMAZING!

Sadly, it is the end too. The end of 18 months of the Royal Carriage Swap. I've met some really awesome Dis'ers. YOU GUYS ROCK!!

SandrA has one of the strollers at her home and it is going to be donated to an organization of her chosing. She knows of a couple and will be working with them. So the Royal Carriage is going to make some child's life a little nicer in Florida.

As for the one...the last one...it seems the last swapper never picked it up in November. The Poly called and left a message, which I returned. It's been sitting since 11/20/09. As some of you may already know, my DH suffered a heart attack and the girls only trip with my BFF was cancelled on 11/28/09 for our December Trip. I explained ths to the wonderful person at the Poly and they are shipping the stroller home (Ohio). Once I get it in hand, I will give it the once over and get it up to part and will be donating it to The Mommy Clinic.

Ladies...and our few gentlemen...I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to host the swaps. I had a blast...got to meet a few of you in person...met some of the most caring and loving ppl on the boards through this swap....and a few forever friendships have been created. Thank you!!!! My life has been so enriched by becoming friends with each of you! Drop me a line sometime. I love hearing about your families, trips, and knowing how you are doing!!

MADDI
