Weather this early March for water play

We have an upcoming trip designed to spend the majority of the time in the resort. During our search last year, highest temperature around early March could be 80+ (ideally 90-ish), so we thought at least we can enjoy some water play around noon.
However, this winter appeared to be a lot colder. We are wondering it will be too cold to even touch the water then... Any thoughts, prediction from the locals?

I’m not local, but I have been to WDW in early March many times, and I can tell you that the weather is unpredictable! We are here now and the forecast is for temperatures in the higher seventies to 80 next week. So you really won’t know until you’re there whether it will be warm enough for you to play in the water or not. It depends on your tolerance for feeling chilled when you get out, because the pools themselves are heated and will be nice and warm.

Thanks! Yeah, I have seen the big swings in temperature while doing my research. The hope was to have one or two days on the higher end out of the 6-day stay. We finally managed to book the resort with lazy river. Now we are a little concerned that we will have half body soaked in warm river and half cold outside lol

We are local (14 years now) and there is no way to adequately respond to this question. At best you'll get individual experiences from people who have visited then, but just because that's what they experienced, it doesn't mean you'll experience the same thing.

Suggest you check one of the national weather resources for Orlando historic weather to get an idea of the range of conditions you might get. Then as your actual travel approaches you can check more frequently for a better indication. Even then, be prepared with extra clothes and ponchos.

Live near Tampa. Totally agree with OKW Lover. There is absolutely no way to predict the weather in March. WESH is an Orlando station. I would look there around a week before, and then daily leading up to your trip.
Thank you both!
Sounds like last-minute cancellation would be inevitable if weather doesn’t permit. We will monitor the weather forecast

This is how I look at winter trips because most of the time that is how it played out for us.

The warmest point of the day is usually mid-afternoon.

Been the first week of March quite a number of times. I have had years I have worn shorts and t-shirts the whole time. And other years I am wearing jeans with a t-shirt and spirit jersey that I do not take off all day. I am from CA so I am wimp about the cold but this was even colder than even I was prepared for. I will never forget in March 2020 (right before the parks closed) that I was at Hollywood Studios super early to get the Rise boarding group wearing my hat and being so cold standing there! The same trip I had other days I wore shorts and a t-shirt.

I have worn 5+ layers including a puff jacket there in the past months, thus a little traumatized lol

Another change of plan so there is a big chance I won’t make it this March. But I will keep this thread, and thank you for all your inputs!
“Some things never change” is that I will do something Disney real soon

I've been to FL many times - approx - this time of year. As others have said, temps can be variable.
IME, odds are fairly high that you will see at least one warm day, and at least one cooler day/evening.

Often a good strategy is to wear shorts in the AM with a jacket, take it off mid-day, then swap to long pants at night.

Do keep in mind that the WDW pools (and Universal) and many other hotels are heated. Hot tubs can be pretty nice.

Outside of swimming, there is much to do in the Orlando area outside of the theme parks, if you so desire. This can be a fun time to explore the resorts and Disney Springs. I'm not sure when the Easter eggs go up in the deluxe hotels, but they are fun to see. Easter is April 5 this year, so at least some will probably be on display before your trip ends.

You said early March. This is still orange season. If you have transportation. With a car you can go all over and see all sorts of things. A day trip to the Everglades is an option, and it will likely be warmer the farther south you travel. Just an hour north of WDW, is Ocala, and a little further is Silver Springs State park with glass bottom boat tours. If you are a fan of WDW, you owe it to yourself to visit Silver Springs for the boat tour at least once. Two hours to the east, St. Augustine is really neat.

I second this! We went to Blue Spring State Park a couple of days ago to see manatees - loved it!
