Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

Just had my best run of the year! (Sorry, I can't help myself with corny jokes)

Decided to do 2 miles straight out and 2 miles back on sane street. Decided to go easyish on way out and then gradually pick up pace on way back. Was 38 and not very windy. Gonna have rain this afternoon so wanted to just get a run in on my last day off work. Felt good!

If I run tomorrow....when I run tomorrow on the treadmill I'll be in the 12+ real easy territory.

I think I'm going to end each training run related post with monthly mileage and yearly mileage to help me keep track. I've got a new daily planner too.

And now it's Rose Bowl Parade watching and NHL Winter Classic watching time.
Bachelor starts tonight too!
Everything is coming up roxy!!! I mean...Roses!

I actually did not watch the Winter Classic yesterday, but I heard the score, so ... sorry. But yay for your best run of the year (even if it's your only run, it still counts!).

That's ok...my team is in the outdoor game pretty much every year so I have a little bit of outdoor game fatigue anyways.

I'm in the middle of a "gonna be tough to get a run in" schedule. Hubby has work big meetings pretty much daily between now and next Thursday, including the weekends and so I'm gonna be the main parental figure for this time period. So finding my spots to run (with help of grandparent support staff - love them!) will be totally up to me. Luckily I knew this was going to happen and I knew my half training didn't have to start officially yet. So I'm not too sad about it. But I have to be strong and have will power and make the little bits of time to see if it can happen.
Basement strength and yoga and any indoor walking opportunities with the kiddo will have to do for some of the days though.

I've been doing pretty good on my water bottle resolution. It's 11am and my bottle is at the 11am mark. It's much harder for me to get the ounces in once I get past about 2pm. My stomach by then is full from lunch and full from all the water and so I've been pretty much stalling out between 1-2 everyday.
But I know it's baby steps. I also drink a small coffee in the morning before I start the water up. I'm learning.

Not much else to add, other than my timehop app is starting to show pictures from last year at WDW and I MISS IT! But only 4+ more months til my next Dis-adventure.

My mom offered to come over this weekend so I can get a long run in! Thanks Ma!
Hubby is having fancy dinner #2 tonight with clients but I got my fave
Portillos fruit and chicken salad and a bonus chocolate cake from mom (It's called "balance") before she had to go home. I had help eating it.

And big news...she thinks she'll be healthy enough to join us for Tink weekend! Probably will get her own room at our hotel and come in Thursday night for relaxing. I hope it works out. Would be an amazing Mother's Day to have her with my sister and I. Even if she spends more time going easy while we commando the parks. Still figuring it out.

Third...my dad is coming tomorrow and I'll likely get to sneak to the gym for a short treadmill if timing works out. Tbd

And finally I may have bought these because it's perfectly clear Tink weekend needs to come asap so I stop buying stuff for the trip. But I couldn't help it.
I have a problem...give me all the Disney stuff! At least a pair of ears is cheaper than going to marathon weekend this year. Justification!

I'm got a run in finally. My mom to the rescue. It's pretty cold out there even though I was wearing all of the clothes that I own.
My Garmin was out of battery doh, so I just did a two mile loop I know well. So not exactly sure the exact mileage or pace but I'm now at at least close to our just over 9 miles in the month. Not very much in comparison to usual but it's best I can do as a solo parent for a short while here. Thank goodness for parents (I'll say it s bazillion times) for coming over so much though!
Soon I get my hubby back and half training will start up (I'm actually so excited...my pants are fitting tightish and my chairs are shrinking!). I know that's probably made up in my head but running makes me feel less lumpy.

Super inspired by the racers this weekend. I was sick to my stomach over the thought of half runners having their schedules flipped upside down. Let's all pray that Tink weekend goes smoothly and maybe we are gonna get some extra friends running with us from marathon weekend deferrals?

I just read about this one and remembered seeing people dressed up last year walking around town. It's the Big10k (also has a 5k) and you get the running gear and shirt that matches the school you pick. Same organization that puts on the Hot Chocolate races, so it'll be a "big event" type race. Your finish time goes towards your school's overall time. I'd be willing to rep the W if anyone wants to come down to Chicago. Or if not, I may just rep the W anyways because I have no other Big10 affiliations. Just an idea I had today.
It's 7/23/17 (a Sunday) which could be HOT or could be great weather. You just never know with Chicago. Not sure where it falls in anyone's training regimens for the year.

Throwing it out there. I'm still not opposed to heading up North as well.

I've seen that race before and would like to do it once.

That is AWESOME!!! I love this. I would train more for this. I already have a red running skirt with white polka dots so it could definitely double as Wisconsin gear. And I'm not sure I've disclosed this, but my husband is a wolverine, so it would be fun to see the outcome . . .

Yeah my hubby went to DePaul but that's not an option. And I went to school in the south. So this race wasnt really on our radar. But it looks cool!

Now I wonder why you have a red polka dot skirt??? :)

I know - how could that be?

If we include extended family (many of whom live in Chicago) we'd have Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State, Indiana and Northwestern covered. Great event - thank you!!

Well that looks fun. Maybe I'll have to make it out there to rep the Terps.

I'd be super tempted to wear something Tulane to rep my real school too :)
Well I think I'm gonna count myself in for this race and then as it gets closer people can let me know if they want to join in the fun.

Tomorrow I'll get a run in (looks like outside will be possible since it's showing high 30's!) and that makes me happy. My hubby is back in town finally and we can go back to our normal schedules. Normal cooking. Normal being active levels. Happy about that.

Today I downloaded the Disneyland app after reading all the hub-bub about MaxiPass and it's kind of fun to look around at a park I'm not too familiar with. So now when I read recaps of the other half marathons I can kinda "get" where people are posting their pictures from along the course. Gonna be stalking the Light Side thread to see how people are liking the races, since that's the closest DL race before Tink. Ahhhh!!! Yay!!!!

My mom booked her airfare officially and will be staying with us at the Tropicana. Going to be an epic mother's day. Can't remember the last time my sister, mom & I all were having a vacay together.

I think the water drinking is starting to become a habit....I'm still not perfect at it. And I leave my bottle at home more days than not while rushing around. But at least the free cups and water coolers are abundant at my office. The days I don't drink enough, I feel the difference. I also pee more (TMI?) which actually means I have more excuses to get up and MOVE while at my desk all day.

And finally...I made this...
1hm5uu.jpg

So off to amazon prime I go. Do you all like the kind that is like a little pouch (so you don't see your phone) or the kind where you slip it in with a clear cover and you can see your phone? I use my garmin for everything except music.

Had a lovely pre-birthday lunch today (pancakes and bacon) and then a super long family nap (oops, but yay!)
Gonna cook dinner now (Korean shrimp with rice cakes...the real squishy kind not the snack kind)
And then I go to the gym for treadmill run (it's just too too icy out...like scary icy)

So what do I do? 4ish miles at like 11 ish seems good right now. Or like maybe an even hour. Ive finally realized how to add treadmill runs to strava. Next I need to connect my Garmin. So I'll do that soon. I'm still figuring it out. Any run opinions for tonight?

Tomorrow I'm having lunch downtown with my bestie (the one I did the turkey trot with) and her mom and we are seeing Hamilton!!! What??? Best 36th birthday ever!!!
