Roundup at the Fort - 2024 Fort Dismeet

We enjoyed a lazy morning riding out the rain, replenished groceries, and headed to EPCOT around 1.

We had Behind the Seeds reservations, which was great. We really like Living with the Land and the further details at the tour is great.1000010692.jpg

After BTS we hit Remy, Frozen, a lot of Wine and Food festival booths...kids had a blast eating all over, Soarin, Living with the Land, Nemo, Spaceship Earth, and Three Caballeros (can't remember the exact order).

We left a little before the fireworks because we were all pooped.

AK tomorrow before HDDR and then probably heading over to MK after dinner to close it down.

Yesterday was a relaxing day. The only issue was it was very cloudy and humid in the morning and I set up the puzzle outside but it started to rain with several coming clouds also on radar. So I moved under the EZ Up but rain blew underneath so I popped the puzzle in the back of the truck and no more puzzling. We didn't get very far and @MrsPAHunter had come over on her bike and got a little wet.

The rain did stop and blow out of town around 11am though and we headed over to Sanaa at AKL to meet the Rusty Scupper couple for lunch. And yes, we got the bread service.

Then we hopped over with them to the Magic Kingdom and had a leisurely afternoon (I think I saw Peach leaving the turnstyle area as we got there about 230pm?).

Christmas decorations are up.

That means the Christmas Tree is up in the Town Square.

We caught the Dapper Dans in the middle of a performance as we came down Main Street.

The castle looked good.

We headed first for the new Country Bears show.

They've added the word "Musical" to the name of the show.

Henry Bear is still the host of the show.

We went back to see it a 2nd time later in the evening. Of course Disney went to having the bears sing songs that Disney already owns the rights to and to hear songs from "Little Mermaid" movie sung by the bears just clashes with me. Some of the spoken jokes were funny though.

More next.

ED

The Lilly Belle pulled us on our train ride.

Dinner at Magic Kingdom was at The Plaza (a favorite of mine) so we crossed the circle in front of the castle and the area was pretty with all the lights.

I rode Tron for the 1st time after dinner with a stated wait time on the app of 55 minutes and it was almost 8pm. From the time I walked to a stop in the queue to wait in line till the time I sat on the ride vehicle was 20 minutes. DEFINITELY overstated.

The ride was fast and smooth. I can handle steel rollercoasters where I can see the track and know which way to lean.

Coming off the ride the fireworks were going on.

DW was ready to leave so we headed for the exits and went by the tree again.

Down to the boat dock, on the boat, and ride back to the Fort.

Tomorrow (Thursday) is our last full day here. Epcot is the plan.

ED

Beautiful morning here at the Fort today (Thursday) and to work on the puzzle (which had gotten washed out by the rain yesterday). @jbrostek, @MrsPAHunter , @Sjm9911 , and @WalkingintheFog all pitched in. We finished the border and made good progress on the interior.

Got to get ready for Epcot now.

Thank you so much Ed, that’s the shirt I was hoping for!

Now to see if I can make it there before they sell out.

Just took the afternoon to experience Blizzard Beach. Fantastic lazy river (my speed)

As an update, we got brave and took the chair lift to the top of the mountain and rode Teamboat Springs, a large raft ride down the side of the mountain. DW loved it but I was backwards the entire way.

The park was extremely empty so it was nice and relaxing. Wish we’d gone sooner in the trip.

I want to extend a special thanks to my DW for arranging our group of 27 people for HDDR! She had to call and speak to a lovely woman who had been working for HDDR for 20 years to get our reservation done. We got a special VIP escort in too before everyone else got to go inside.

We are home. Drive was uneventful, did have traffic in McDonough. It was slow but got through. Total drive time was just over 7 hours.

Unpacked, started laundry, and picked up a Whisky. She got a bath and a deshed she looks and smells amazing.

We did The Seeds tour last trip or trip before and also really enjoyed it too. ED

1. We have done Behind-The-Seeds twice over the years.
2. Enjoyed it EVERY time
3. Recommended to many of our friends.
4. GREAT "Land" tour combo:
. . . Living With The Land boat ride
. . . Followed by Behind-The-Seeds
. . . Meal at Sunshine Seasons
. . . based upon crowds/timing, any order is nice

I emotionally refuse to spend money at the new Trails End restaurant but I did take pics.

Plenty of available seating.

Hoop Dee Doo Review does not run on Monday nor Tuesday so no show today.

@Disneypeach was gone AGAIN from her site as I went by so I headed up towards the Dog Park. As a reminder, much of the Fort is in WETLANDS which could not be built today (most likely) and the cypress trees still try to grow in the low water areas 50 years later behind 400 loop.

There is another playground near the 300/500 loop entrances next to the dog park.

The dog park has many fenced off smaller areas which helps dogs of all sizes socialize properly.

The dog park has room for 2 cars to park and about 3-4 golf carts.

BTW, random observation - did you know the Disney PoPo will monitor parking at the Dog Park (AUTOMOBILE parking) and if you park there too long after dark (no dog in the fence), the PoPo will find you and message you to move your vehicle. Did you know that, @4077? @4077 Hello? :rockband: Is this thing on?

May need a technical check here, @4077.

ED

PS - BTW, that's a COMpletely random observation about parking and users. It MUST have come to me in a DREAM.

1. Count us among those who are boycotting Trails End !!!.
2. They do a lot right, BUT . . .
3. Disney takes a good thing and changes it to the worse (or worst)
. . . the Country Bears Jamboree makeover
. . . ending the Country Bears Christmas Show
. . . adding a DVC to "our" Fort (will change RV-Park experience)
. . . putting up Christmas decorations at Halloween.
. . . filling in the River of America and ending steamship
. . . killing off the Epcot Fife & Drum Corps (we were heartbroken)
. . . throwing out Canada's Off Kilter
. . . rocking chairs MADE OF PLASTIC at Crockett's Tavern

. . .

We are getting ready to head out this morning. I'll provide some info about our day at Epcot yesterday after we get home tonight.

Please join me in congratulating @WalkingintheFog as our Roundup DISMeet 2024 Putt Putt Champion. :cheer2::banana::cool1::jumping1:

She had a very consistent round.

Her prize is a Chip & Dale Putting Shag Bag for holding a couple golf balls to carry to the green when practicing her putting stroke.

It's only about 5-6 inches tall. It also can be a ditty bag or a bag to throw what-nots into. Thanks to all who played.

Loved the visit with everyone this week. Thanks once again to Arc and Josie for all the heavy lifting to make things happen during the event.

I have some Domino's pizza and a Cabernet in my future tonight!

Till Next Time,

Bama Ed

PS - yesterday's update coming.

PPS - Fort DISMeet 2028?

We had a lazy day at AK yesterday. Did all the usuals: Safari, Conservation Station, etc. I couldn't talk the kids into an Everest run.

In the afternoon we came back to the rig for catching up on homework and relaxing before HDDR with the gang. The kids had a blast and said that is a must do next trip. Thanks Arc and Mrs Arc for putting it together. It was special to share that time together.

After HDDR, we closed down MK.

Today we're in HS with another family fave reservation, 50s Prime Time. I'm going to get my clean plate club sticker for sure. In the evening we're monorail cruising and checking out resort decorations and maybe a libation and snack or two.

Saturday is MK. Then out the gate at o'dark 30 Sunday morning.
