 We almost had grilled mouse for dinner last night! I opened the gas grill and lit it. Just as I was about to close the lid to let it get REALLY hot, I noticed something jumping around on the lava rocks. OMG, it was a cute little mouse looking up at me with HUGE eyes, like, "Are you going to cook and eat me?" I immediately turned off the grill, then yelled to DH, "there's a mouse in the grill!" His reply, "Turn off the gas!" (sometimes I think he thinks I am a complete idiot! ) He came down to try and get the little guy out, but he had crawled under the bottom grate, then all over the place in the bottom of the grill. Finally, when DH knew he was UNDER the place where the flames come out, he lit the grill again. In about 3 (very long) minutes, he came scurrying out from the base of the grill. He ran off, and he is now probably back in the basement where he belongs, eating dogfood.

What if I had closed the grill cover with him ON TOP of the flames like he was,and he couldn't get out??? I shudder to think..

All I could think of is the part in Shrek (1) where they are cooking weed rats for dinner. "Weed rats-rotisserie style" Ugghhh...:crazy2: :faint:

Well my visiting rodent last year was a RAT <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_3_169.gif' border=0></a>
and I have not been able to make myself use the grill since. I had just turned on the gas and was ready to light it when he jumped out. I wish I had fired it it up! Rats are so gross compared to a cute little baby mouse.

I did open it up this spring to check it out - I guess I thought the rat cooties might have been killed over the winter and I had a wasp's next in side with lots of wasps. I think I'll just use the George Forman grill inside.

ITA, arminnie. I like my wildlife on the small, cute side. No way I would go near that grill again with rat cooties on it. My question is....what is intriguing to a rat or mouse in our grills??

You know what takes away the guilt of almost frying a mouse? Cotton Candy! Yeah nothing says I'm sorry quite like a big handful of Cotton Candy. Come on over to the Fair Food poll and vote Cotton Candy!

We had that happen to us once. Needless to say, no one was quite in the mood for hamburgers on the grill that night.

I always check my grill first because where I used to live birds would start nest in my grill.

I love cotton candy so my sister gave me a cotton candy maker for Christmas.
