Part Two Saturday 21st January
I woke at 7.50 - everyone else was fast asleep. It was a bit selfish of me but I woke them up and we got to the breakfast scrum by 8.30. If January is quiet I dread to think what August is like! It was very busy and DS was getting a little worried by the crowds. We ate a small breakfast because DS wasn't too happy in the Restaurant and by 9.45 we were on our way to the Studios.
It was a very sunny day but colder than the day before so we were all glad of our thermal gear - underwear socks and gloves. We wanted to go on Panoramamagique but it wasn't flying due to wind strength. It looked fantastic and we hoped to get a go at some point during our stay.)
We went straight to the Rock n Roller Coaster on entering the Studios. It's DD's favourite Disney ride and as it was Magic Unlimited we rode it twice in a row. DH and DS don't enjoy coasters as much as DD and I but they loved this one! DS bought a Rock n Roller coaster pin on his way through the shop to add to two which JodyB (from the DLRP board on the DIS) had kindly sent him. Then it was the rather tedious TV studios tour which we suffered in order to get to Cyberspace Mountain</ST1
. DD and I love this attraction and have an ongoing mission to design a level 5 (ie very scary) coaster! There were lots of CMs ensuring that guests only got one go at <ST1<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com /><st1:PlaceName w:st=Cyberspace</st1
laceName> <st1laceType w:st=" /><st1laceName w:st="on">Cyberspace</st1laceName> <st1laceType w:st="on">Mountain</st1laceType></ST1 and they weren't letting anyone sneak in through the side door. DS wanted to design a coaster with DD so DH and I did one together. The childrens was a level 2 as was ours. Riding them was fun but we fancied a change of pace so went next to Cinemagique. We could remember the basic outline of the story but it was good because the detail was still amusing and fresh. DS particularly enjoyed it. We had a drink break and wandered around looking at all the little details like the umbrella shop - it was lovely in the sunshine.
The Tram Tour was next - we really appreciated how good it was this time and loved the costumes on display which were from the Narnia film. Time for the parade, and we were surprised by how few people were watching. The characters were very interactive and DS withdrew a little - he finds them embarassing/intimidating.
DD was whingeing for a pizza so we headed to Backlot for lunch. The props etc on display are really interesting and I had a good look around while DH and DS queued for food. DH and I had Croque Monsieur and coffee and DS and DD had Mickey pizza and a soft drink each - it cost 29 euros and we all enjoyed it.
DH DS and DD wanted to browse the shops in Studio 1 so I hopped over to <ST1<st1laceName w:st="on">Disneyland</st1laceName> <st1laceType w:st="on">Park</st1laceType></ST1 to pick up a fastpass or two. All fastpasses for BTM had gone
but I got some for Star Tours. I rejoined the family and we watched the stunt show which again we half remembered. It is a great show especially for the children. We left the Studios at about 4.30pm and went to Critter Corral - but it was closed! I was upset because its closure wasn't mentioned on the Park Map or on any of the info. boards. Instead we visited the wonderful Dragon, went over the rope suspension bridge in Adventureland and walked through an emptying park to Star Tours. Even with Fastpass we queued for ten minutes. The train is one of DH's favourite attractions and last time we visited the queue was always very long. We were lucky this time though and it was a walk on. We rode around the whole park and when we arrived back at <st1:Street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Main Street</st1:address></st1:Street> we left the Park. We had dinner in the Hunters Grill which DH and DD enjoyed but DS and I didn't. The wine was very nice though! It was expensive at 100 Euros but I know for next time. We let the children play in the arcade room and enjoyed a coffee in the lounge - planning what to do Sunday!
