Rosie's gone...

So your gay liberal brother thinks Rosie is crazy, doesn't mean she is.

I do think she's angry about this war and pretty steadfast in her opinion. Just as Elizabeth is steadfast in her opinion that we are doing some good over there. It makes ME absolutely crazy to listen to Elizabeth sometimes, but I still believe her to be someone who I can respect for having a very steadfast opinion and a willingness to make a stand. I hate when people dismiss others as "crazy" when they hold an opinion or a stance that doesn't match their own. :(

I was more so trying to show the other poster that not all liberals are the same, some are more to the left than others. Just like some conservatives are more to the right than others. I did occasionally agree with Rosie one thing that comes to mind is the Texas vaccination story, but in general her conspiracy stories wore on me.

I am sorry to see her go even though I disagree with her on most things. I think she can be very funny, but when she goes into her condescending lecturing mode..."Now Elizabeth, you don't really believe...." I fast forward. She has said it all before and no one is going to change her mind and she is not going to change anyone else's mind. The day after day arguments along this line were getting to be too much.

I was glad to hear she was going to The View but kind of thought something like this could happen. She has had a lot of conflicts with people in the past. Didn't Donald Trump even predict that she would ruin the View. I am no fan of his, and completely agreed with Rosie during their feud, but it is sad to see that he was right, and at this point, this year has crashed and burned.

I think Rosie is a very sensitive person. She has been through alot with her mother's death, her depression, her failed magazine, the shots she takes regarding her weight, lifestyle and politics. She also is hyper-sensitive about anything people might say about some of those things. When the Kelly Ripa feud happened I could not believe Rosie actually believed that Kelly's comment about "not knowing where Clay Aiken's hand had been" was homophobic! I think Rosie just sees things through very different eyes and is always looking for someone to be bashing her, her politics, her lifestyle, even when they are not.

Whether I will keep watching the show I don't know. I hadn't for many years until Rosie returned. She did make the show funny again but she does have a tendancy to leave a lot of bad relationships behind her.

I wish her well, although I do not believe I am quite the fan I was before. I believe she is an unhappy person and I hope she can go on and find peace in her life.

You said people are calling her a "fat lesbian left wing wacko" and all I'm saying is I've been following this thread as you have and I only saw one poster mention her being fat and no one mentioning her sexuality.

A post was deleted by the mods. It was originally post #81.

I agree that Rosie always has a condecending tone towards Elisabeth. "You're too young to understand.....". Even though I usually disagree with her views, I was glad to see Elisabeth stand up to Rosie. I don't think she was obligated to defend Rosie on another show.

Personally, I think both Rosie and Elizabeth were behaving in an unprofessional manner. The whole point of the View is to get viewpoints on a subject from different generations of women. It's expected that these views will differ, and the show was planned around that very premise. The very differences they bring to the table are what makes it interesting.

But by escalating a difference of opinion into an argument like these women did, just paints them as immature. If one of them had nipped it in the bud and stepped back from the fight, that would have been the right thing to do. The producers have their part in this as well. They should have taken the show to commercial right away instead of letting the argument escalate to the point where one of the hosts had to ask for a commercial break.

I used to watch the View back when it first came on, and it was a good show. But little by little as the voices have changed, it's become less pleasant to watch, and this whole episode has left a really bad taste in my mouth. It doesn't really matter to me who they replace Rosie with, and in my opinion, Elizabeth should be replaced as well. But I won't be watching anymore.

the caly akin and kelly rippa thing was where it all started for me.. I started to not like rosie. I love rosies comedy and I like the fact that she helps children , I am sick of her political crap even though I am not for the war. I am just sick of hearing about it. actually it is the argueing.. also I am sick of hearing if its a gay thing ,white, black, old ,young Democrat, republican thing. Why can we not just live like people and forget the label.

as far as people picking on Rosies weight that is really crappy.

Rosie was not just to the left, she was nuts. My gay libral brother even admits he thinks Rosie is crazy.

I do not think Rosie is crazy in fact I find it very refreshing that she will air concerns and different sides of situations that the mainstream media never touches on. I do not think she is that far left either. But then again this is coming from an ultra liberal Lesbian...maybe I am nuts too then?

That is the exact type of generalization I am talking about.
You think that because some one hates her it must be because of her
weight, sexual orientation etc. Why can't it be because we just think she is a jerk?

I think? Now you are putting thoughts in my head. I've never said any such thing.

You are the one who brought this up; that her sexuality has been mentioned in this thread. I disagree and I'm disputing that claim. I just thought you could back up your claim with a link. No biggie.

I just looked through this whole thread again because for the life of me I don't recall that happening. Nope, no one mentions her being a lesbian or being gay except those defending her so it's not 'right here in this thread' as you said it was.

Yup, as mentioned, it was said right here on this thread. Its been said many other times, and sometimes just implied. Someone saying she needs to go feed her fat face, other people calling her a lesbian wacko. Its on you to go look for it. I certainly don't need to back anything up. You doubt it, then you go look for it. :confused3 I'm leaving for a bar-b-que and certainly am not inclined to "back up my claim", LOL.

You made the gereralization that "the people who hate her"... you did not say some people who hate her.

1 or 2 people is plenty in your mind? OK what ever. It is clear that your love for Rosie has clouded your judgement

LOL. Thats pretty funny considering there is a new thread with people seething about Rosie pretty much every day. I don't love her, I don't even know her. I certainly don't seethe over her though. As I said earlier, Rush Limbaugh makes me seethe, this is why I would never consider watching him EVER, let alone on a regular basis. :confused3 I do think most people dislike her because they think she's un-American fior being against the war, and being a lesbian probably doesn't help her case. They don't want to consider all the great things she has done for the troops or for other charities, they just want to dwell on her conspiracy theories or anti war talk. And the reason I think that is because I read these Rosie threads all the time and this is what is said directly, or if not said straight out, certainly implied. If you don't fall into that category, then so be it. :confused3

I'm actually just a little to the left of center and I like Rosie. I also like Elizabeth. I feel terrible these two women who I think were friends (as indicated by the two of them on the show, they both seem familiar with each other's children, etc.) are now no longer. That is not to say there are people on each extreme that I cannot stand....never cared for Michael Moore or his right wing equivalent, Rush Limbaugh. Two bigger blowhards who do nothing to actually HELP anyone you'd be hard pressed to find.

Oh, ok. I did go look as you already suggested before and nope, I didn't find it. No mention of a lesbian wacko except by you.

Whenever I say something here on the Dis the ultra liberals always tell me (and others) that it isn't valid or believed unless it can back it up with a link. No biggie. You saw something I didn't. I thought you could show me where since I couldn't find it. I think we should let it go already.

I'm going out too. Fifteen years of wedded bliss to celebrate. :goodvibes

Stupid Bush was on Thurday during the scheduled time here for The View. Did anybody see it (maybe in Central or Pacific time zone) -- the show directly following Wednesday's conflict between Rosie & EH? I know they tape 2 shows on Thursday and air the 2nd one on Friday (which I saw on Friday with that pretty cooking woman). Just wondering how the mood was.
Anyone?

I may now have to spend the money to pay for HBO so I can watch Bill Maher...one of the few people left who 'tell' it like it is! I do very much enjoy Olbermann on MSNBC but keep wondering when he'll be cancelled by the right wing conservatives....

Just to clarify, there was a post last night on this thread that was a nasty, name-calling comment. I think that's what people are referring to. I made a comment to that poster saying it was uncalled for, and this morning a number of the posts had been deleted (including mine).

I agree! Its always about Rosie and Rosies life; Kelly, kids, and Kellys southern mom. If I were her "mother in law" I would be furious the way she talks about her on the show. I think that is VERY disrepectful !! I am thrilled she is gone and think Elizabeth was wonderful in standing up to her. I did feel bad for Sherry and Joy, how uncomfortable was that!!

Yah she gone!! Poor little ole Rosie need Elizabeth to stand up for her

No, Rosie didn't need EH to stand up for her, what she needed was a friend, like she has been to EH. But she didn't get that from EH. EH seems to be a cold *****, where Rosie has feelings and seems to take the meaning of "Friend" very seriously.

I'm very sorry she is gone. I really enjoyed watching her. While I might not have always agreed with her, I still think she made The View alot more interesting.

It will be interesting to see what happens now to the show and it's ratings.

Well sha lyn, cause shes not a jerk. I dont know many jerks that spend there time trying to make kids and wounded troops feel better about themselves emotionally and financially, with money from there pockets. Just cause one does not agree with you , that does not make them a jerk. Just because one may be loud and lack some social graces, does not make them a jerk. Just because someone will not sit in the corner and mind there manners to those that think they are better and smarter, does not make them a jerk. You can disagee with her politics, you can not like her for whatever reason but the woman is not a jerk.

Joy beher <sp> on the view is just as liberal, a little heavy and has a very big mouth, she has said things that are just as loud and obnoxious as Rosie but yet you dont see her making news. One diffrence, shes married and not gay.

Those are things that make people say the things they say on here. Things tha make people go hmmmmmm?

I am sorry she is gone also. Whether people like her or not the show was much more interesting with her on it, especially the first 30 minutes. The show got very boring before she arrived. I will watch Tues just to see what happens, but that will be it for me. I don't see much hope for the future of this show. Elizabeth should be thanking Rosie for making her popular, before Rosie came to the show, no one notice or really cared that Elizabeth was even there.
