Rosie's gone...

"I honestly think the american public is just so used to loud mouths on the conservative side that they get thrown off by a liberal one. And when they get thrown off they get angry and louder. "

And God forbid a woman has an opinion , thats even worse. The thing that cracks me up is they start attacking the person on a personal level instead of keeping the argument to the discusion at hand, usually politics against a conservative. It amazes me how grown adults result to school yard insults.

Well, she has answered many more questions on her blog and in her video.

She admits one photo was defaced.

She says she and EH have emailed.

She says she left because of both the split screen and EH.

She says she will not be back even for those guest appearances.

She seems to think it was a planned 'agenda' due to the split screen.

This is what she said about her friendship with EH: a mom bond, truly, isnt enuf for a friendship.

To clarify..She said one magazine photo of EH, thumbtacked on a wall, had a mustache drawn on it by Jenette. Childish yes, but not a valuable oil painting either. Another staff member saw her and reported it. The dressing room was not trashed.
She said EH called and had a long conversation with Kelly. Rosie then Emailed EH who Emailed her back. She has no desire for further conversation with her. It was repeated it was not about politics, it was about friendship and loyalty. It started last Monday. Ironically this Monday's show ( previously taped) is EH's birthday celebration, taped prior to the argument.
She is obviously very angry also with the executive producer, as you said, for not cutting with a commercial, and doing a split screen. They feel it was a ratings thing, exploiting the fight.

Right. The only thing I didn't know in your post is that EH talked with Kelly.

Thats why somebody like rosie is so unique, she wears her heart on her sleave and reguardless if there is a national TV show going on, her friend<s> betrayed her and she was upset and reacted. I think its a breath of fresh air personally , no phoney PC imagine consious star behavior. A real person, with real feelings , reacting like real people often do. Im sure that the view will go back to being cookie cutter boring PC gabfest where all people can feel safe from any contoversial opposing thought.

I wonder too about it being preplanned. The way Joy Behar came out with her list of why Bush should be thrown out of office seemed odd.

I thought it was too, esp. since it took so long. EH was going on for a long time before rosie said anything. It was like they were just waiting for her to blow. And then...instantly...split screen. On the last day of sweeps.

I thought it was petty obvious, they had been goating her all week, everyday getting a bit worse with the attacks. They played the woman like a fiddle and got what they wanted. MELTDOWN. I suppose they are all real proud of themselves now. I think it was pretty sick stuff. Again taking the politics out of it and just keeping in the people, sick stuff.

Just some thoughts from someone who's just getting back to the boards (in prep for a trip next week)

We are Rosie fans. We started watching the View because of her and without her, we will stop watching the View. Rosie's not perfect, no one is. Husbear & I disagreed on the Kelly Ripa/Clay Aiken issue, he agreed with Rosie that Kelly would not have used those same words to a straight, female co-host; I think her words had nothing to do with Clay's (perceived) preferences but was spoken by a mother who is used to dirty-handed kids.

My point is that we all view the world through our own lenses. I don't agree with everything Rosie says but I have to respect her for the amount of good that she has done, through her charity work, through her entertainment, etc. Personally, I find her very entertaining and enjoyable and (as others have said) a 'real' person (there are some days I just can't STAND Barbara's simpering).

I think for a lot of us who lived through the Vietnam War, it is very difficult to sit and listen to EH's calls to patriotism. The same arguments that were used to justify that war are being used to justify this one (HB literally yells at the TV when EH gets on one of her rants). And see where we are 40 years later; the Commies didn't take over the world.

As for the criticism that Rosie only wants Rosie's view heard, I think this just isn't valid. We've watched the show regularly since Rosie's been on. All of those women (Barbara less so) overtalk to the point that we have to replay to hear someone's point. There have been many times that Rosie has stepped in to stop the overtalking (ie, moderate) and in the early episodes, Barbara & Rosie make it clear that one of Rosie's roles was to serve as moderater. I've also seen many times when Rosie really wanted to say something (you could just see the words fighting to get out of her mouth), but she held back until an appropriate moment.

The issue with Rosie's assistant, Janette, defacing the one photograph is also understandable (I don't condone it, but it is understandable). Janette was one of the writers (maybe the principle writer) for Rosie's talk show. For a couple years during run of the talk show, Janette had had severe health problems. Through it all, Rosie was incredibly loyal and supportive. I wouldn't be surprised if Janette saw the split-screen shot (which is the first time I had *ever* seen it used in the eight months of watching the show even though there was many times that Rosie & EH had sparring matches), saw what the director was doing (exploiting the "fight"), saw that EH was not going to directly answer Rosie's question, and probably just got really pissed off!

Rosie is an incredibly loyal person (to a fault) and it's unfortunate that things got 'personal' on the show, but that's is the kind of person she is. If you had a multinational conglomerate sue you for millions of dollars over the use of your name, then you'd come to the realization that your name was must really be worth something! Pesonally, I will continue to be a fan even though I don't agree with everything she does.

That had not occured to me. The thing about Joy's list of Bush's shortcomings was pretty standard Joy material. I didn't see anything unusual about that, but because Rosie is so predictable, I could see the possibility of a set-up for the sake of ratings (since they knew she was leaving anyway).

I cant site the exact examples, I dont want to try and misrepresent exactly what happened accuratly, rosie had made mention on her blog how she thought the womens behavior was confusing and bizzare herself. It made for some good television a show that pretty lame, IMO before rosie got there. I think if you see whoopi or roseanne or especially kathy griffen you would see an entertaining show again. We will see.

I totally agree with everything you said:thumbsup2 I dont agree with everything Rosie has said over the months. BUT... I really enjoy Roise a lot. I read her blog every day. She even answered one of my questions on there:thumbsup2
Although I think she sais dumb things from time to time, I actually felt bad for her on her last day with the split screen. I wonder what Barbara Walters will say about it all when they become live again:confused3 It should be very interesting:rolleyes:

Thank you for saying that. I am a fan of Rosie's as well, and will continue to support whatever she sets out to do.

I see it differently. I think Joy was fed up with EH's behavior Monday and wanted a go at Elizabeth herself. She even said a few times "I will fight with Elizabeth, let me do it." This was in response to Rosie saying she wouldn't fight with EH anymore. I could be wrong, and I want to trust Joy because her and Rosie were very close, Joy was even on her Jahero blog a few times.

She answered me twice ( once pertaining to these boards) also and though I'll never be certain, I think she posted here once.
;)

Joy kinda went after her after that whole emmy thing on monday? I think it was monday. Rosie had mentioned on the blog that she thought it was very strange when somebody had questioned joys reaction. Who knows, I suppose its over now, hope they mend there fences. life too short.

Agreed. If any of these three women were on, we'd at least give the show another chance. Personally, I don't think Whoopi would have the patience to deal with EH.

I would probably start to watch again also. I don't think anyone of those women have the patience to deal with her. The only thing I would have done differently then Rosie is that I would have finished my last three weeks there, as hard as it would have been, mainly to show EH that I am a stronger person than she is and I wouldn't of given her the satisfaction of fighting with her anymore.
