I booked thie hotel via Priceline $39 a night for May 15th 4 nights.. It appears to be a good value. Orbitz shows rooms for $225 and up, WOW. I have seen this hotel while cruising I-Drive. Impressive exterior yet never stayed before. Website says established 1995 yet I bet it was under another name for I hear the building is showing some years. Anyone have any info? What hotel name was this place previously?

The Rosen Hotels do not appear to have a membership club.

This was the Omni Rosen until a couple of years ago.

Its a nice hotel but gets lots of convention traffic, also noise from othe rooms can be a problem especially if you get one with a connecting door.

We stayed in 1996 when it was the Omni Rosen and still very new. It was a very smart hotel then, but I haven't been back recently, so I can't comment on wear and tear. In the travel brochures here in the UK, it is still listed as a top class hotel, with top class prices, so I would say $39 is a good rate.

The Everglades Restaurant still gets decent reviews.

I stayed here in 2001 via Priceline and we were happy. Just needed it for one night. The room was quiet and pleasantly decorated. It was decent size and comfortable. The pool is large with a large seating area though it is not anything very imaginative. Redd's Delie was really good. This is a large hotel with very large public spaces. We use valet parking as I had heard self parking was quite far. We were assigned a room with a terrible view Roof with AC units and a wall) but it didn't matter as we arrived after 8:00 P.M. and were leaveing the next morning. Still I would ask for a room on a higher floor!

Allow me to ask for a comparison. If you could choose between the mentioned two, which would you prefer? Rosen appears to be elegant yet Wyndham on I Drive gets pretty good reviews. Thanks for replies.

I hope it's nice because we have booked a 14 night stay there in June this year !!!

The Travel Agent we booked with had stayed there and she reckoned it was very nice, we went with her recommendation although she also said the Sheraton World was good too.

Perhaps you could let me know how you get on in May ?

To get a few more opinions I did a search using this site and put "Rosen" in the search options. It then lists all the posts relating to "Rosen" across all the boards, believe me there is a lot.

It helped me clear up any doubts although I didn't have many in the first place !!!

Enjoy!!

Just for peoples info. This is one of the nicest and priciest hotels in Orlando. It used to be the Omni. Harry Rosen is the owner and is one of the best businessmen in Orlando. He also owns the Rosen Plaza, Rodeway and Quality Inn on IDrive. This offers from budget to upscale. He has been around since pre-Disney. He has a policy of "every room rented, every night" . That's why you see some of his rooms discounted on skyauction at times. I would love! to stay there for $39 bucks! It's location is on the south end of I Drive near Sea World and beside the convention center/Bee Line(528). It is mainly a conventionaires hotel. I previously lived and worked market research for hotels in Orlando for several years so I know what people think of all the hotels. Never any complaints on the Rosen. As for the other question of Wyndam (I Drive & Sand Lake) vs Rosen. They sold and completely renovated the Wyndam resently. The Wyndam looks good but I dislike its location at that very busy intersection. The Rosen was always much more upscale because it had to compete with the Peabody across the street for the conventionaires.
