Roseanne back

I’m curious by what you mean? She always seemed perpetually stressed out by her kids to me. She was hard nosed about it though. Never let them see you sweat kind of thing.

A couple where I thought the reaction was genuine:

The girls going out with Rosanne for a mother/daughter spa day. Of course they were just after something and insincere. Rosanne was crushed and Dan was beyond angry. That episode always makes me uncomfortable because I did something like that to my stepmom as a teen and still feel guilty about it decades later. Their reactions were spot on, that’s exactly how my parents reacted.

Walking that fine line with the bad boy boyfriend. Forbidding it and then giving in because she didn’t want to push her kid away.

Dan shutting down on any of them when he felt they were doing wrong.

DJ not wanting to kiss the African American girl and Rosanne getting straight up pissed about it.

I know it was a comedy, but she just seemed to let all of Backy’s BS just roll off with a sarcastic comment as opposed to any real action.

Dan always seemed more “real” to me. Roseanne was in charge, but when pushed too hard, he came down like thunder.

I thought it was reasonably entertaining and got a few real good laughs out of it!! I shall watch again!

So many shows are in pristine huge homes in California or elsewhere, it nice to see a show in what is much more of a typical American home.

I’ve always wanted to smack Becky. Actually, I still kind of do, lol.

I remember that episode and did you see DJ's daughter is black. I wonder if they will say he married the girl he didn't want to kiss in the school play.
She said on The View they thought, wouldn’t it be great if DJ grew up to marry that girl? So I just assumed he did.

That girl or not, I’m making the assumption that DJ is the adoptive father. We’ll see though :)

They did announce that it was filmed before a live audience yet you could definitely tell it was a laugh track.

It very likely was filmed in front of a studio audience. Most "multi-cam" sitcoms are. That laugh track does indeed come from the audience, however the laughter is "cooked" to enhance the positive responses. They have microphones hanging over the audience in specific locations, so if thye find that an individual is particularly going for the jokes, they will turn up that mic to make it more prominent. They can mute out those who are not responding. This can make it sound fake, and I guess it's up to an individual to decide if it is or not, but they likely do film live. I know all this form my tour of the Big Bang Theory set at the Warner Bros. Studios lot.

Certainly not my experience and you do realize since it is a tv show that they aren't really related to either one? Adopted? What an interesting assumption.

Well, it is my experience, however limited. And yeah, it’s purely an assumption, but then again the family had numerous situations covered, so “why not” a stepchild? Just a thought - I’m not married to it though :)

No, his wife is serving in the military. Rosanne did say her name but I didn’t catch it. (the scenes were rolling way too fast)

I'm sure they're going to tie as much of this "new" series to the "old" series as they can. Do you watch Fuller House? I gotta say it's kinda cool seeing them flash back to the scenes when they were little and how it ties into the current scene. I'm sure they'll do stuff like that with this series too.

I caught that, my pondering is just a “what if” regarding their daughter.

Interesting. Thanks

I loved it. Love that we're ignoring the finale...find it very interesting Darlene & David named their son Mark and am curious if they're going to dig into Becky being a widow more. Curious also about the lack of Jackie's son Andy--he and Fred were big parts of the later seasons so I feel like they have to address them both in some way.

Sarah Chalke is hilarious and I loved her spot. I definitely prefer Lecy Goranson's Becky, but Chalke is a fantastic actress. Goranson seemed the most stiff to me--something about her voice maybe?

I look forward to future episodes when they find their groove a bit more.

Yeah, I noticed her voice seemed to go from raspy to not, maybe she was sick while filming the episode. I think each show will get better and better as they focus on the theme of the episode instead of trying to catch us all up on what everyone has been doing all these years.

The biggest one, that I bet no one else noticed, was Marks teacher. I am 99.9% sure she was Darlene’s teacher from the very first episode.
Yup. Judy Prescott. Good catch!

The media releases mentioned that she would be around 14 yo, the actress is certainly older than that
The actress was born in 1999, a few months after the first series ended. So, yes, she should be almost 20.

Yes, as others have surmised, DJ apparently married 'that' Geena.

“Generally speaking”, biracial children look more like their fathers (in my experience).
Well, 'Mary' https://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/...MTEzNjA2NzM@._V1_UY317_CR12,0,214,317_AL_.jpg strongly resembles 'Geena' https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0446805/mediaviewer/rm2346454528 so...

I like the actress Sarah Chalke and think she did a great job as Becky, but I think her appearance is just too "blue blood" for the family. She'll play as a well off woman trying to use a surrogate better IMO.
