We are off to the World soon with a large family group  We have some in the group that would like to try Rose & Crown for lunch and others who are interested in Coral Reef.

Which would you choose and why?

TIA!

No contest there. Rose & Crown all the way!!! I love their food. So yummy. And I like the atmosphere. Its especially nice if you have a patio seat or by the window. You get a view of the water.

Rose&Crown has more variety/reasonable prices. Have you checked out their menus?

I wasnt too thrilled with the Coral reef. Just my opinion. Not a huge steak fan. Thought it was very bland tasting and over priced. This upcoming trip we're doing Rose and Crown. prices looked good and the menu appealed to me, as a previous poster stated-the lake view is beautiful.

Rose & Crown hands down. We ate at both last trip and our Coral Reef lunch was horrible. We had dinner the next night at R&C and it was very good.

I ate at both last trip and I preferred Rose and Crown. Coral Reef was good, but my entree at Rose and Crown (the vegetarian shepards pie) might have been my favorite meal the whole trip!

We love Coral Reef - and I am not a fish eater.
What we order:
DD
Creamy Lobster Soup and a kids entree
DH
Rainbow Seared Trout
DS & DW
Seared Chicken Breast

Rose & Crown - we did not like the fish and chips (found them to be greasy), back in 2003 we loved the place - in 2007 we disliked Rose & Crown - maybe a new Chef was in the kitchen.

Rose & Crown! Hands down!

While I do like Coral Reef, it isn't worth it, IMHO, unless you have a tank-side table. The food is good, but if you're in the back row of tables, you don't get a good view of the fish -- my son (then 4) was disappointed that he couldn't play the "find the fish" game using the picture card of each species - we were just too far away from the tanks.

And of course there is the matter of my addiction to the potato leek soup at R&C :rotfl:

Thank you to everyone who posted a reply! This is exactly what I was looking for! Love all your opinions and thoughts! DIS-ers are awesome :goodvibes

I'm on the R&C side of the fence, so I'm glad to hear so many are happy eating there. It will be my 1st time at R&C.

Please, I would love to hear more thoughts opinions if you have them.

TFS!

Would you consider splitting up? It seems like large parties always have poor service in the parks, and if you split up everyone could go where they wanted?

PS-we love coral reef, the tank is amazing!!!!! We also enjoyed the food and service:goodvibes

Rose and Crown! I've tried Coral Reef on 2 occasions and never liked it. I LOVE Rose and Crown, the food is so delicious. I always get potato and leek soup, fish and chips and chocolate scotch cake.

I would also pick Rose & Crown.

Not only is the food and service better, I find that Coral Reef just isn't set up to handle larger groups. If you have more than 6 in your party, chances are good that you will be split or sat way in the back where it's hard for children to see the tank.

I've thought about that- splitting up. Thanks for the suggestion! We did have to split up into tables of 4 when we made our ressies, so hopefully service will be good!

Before my last trip I probably would've said Rose and Crown, but now it's no debate for me that Coral Reef is better. I loved my meal there last trip, and I love the atmosphere there. The service was really good there last time too.
