Rose & Crown Seating Fail

No, the complaint is making an ADR 5 months in advance for a special birthday and Rose & Crown used the opportunity of extra people to provide the worst table. I am sure no one who has replied as ever gone to a restaurant and was seated at a table next to kitchen or away from the TV for the big game, etc.
and did not ask to be moved to a better location. I bet everyone has and in 99% of those requests you were treated respectfully and courteously even if there were no options. Again, it is all about the delivery of the message which is Disney's specialty.

Just
OK, here are my questions:

1. You knew at the start of your trip that you would be adding 2 people to every one of your ADRS. Why didn't you contact dining and change all your ADRs at that point? You started as a party of 12. You knew on day 1 that you would become a party of 14 for the week. Why didn't you do the obvious thing and change your ADRs at that point as opposed to repeatedly showing up with more people than they were prepared to accomodate?

2. Why on earth did you make an ADR at a restaurant with outside seating if sitting in the sun would make both you and your wife so uncomfortable that you would be unable to eat? If the issue is that serious, why on earth did you not choose from among the many restaurants that offer only indoor seating?

3. If you were that uncomfortable, unable to eat, why didn't you ask some other member of your party to switch seats with you? I for one have absolutely no issue with sitting in the sun. Judging from the number of people I see sitting doing the same in WDW, it appears that most people don't. Why couldn't two of the other 12 people in your party switch seats with you and your wife?

4. You "called their bluff??" They went out of their way to accommodate you and you "called their bluff?" Wow.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Hopefully the OP will realize in the future that with a large party like 10 or more it's best to call group dining reservations and if they can't help call the restaurant directly and speak to the manager. That should have been done as SOON as he knew he needed a table for 14 instead of 12. We have done this in the past when it's a large group. Just my guess but the OP not being able to order an entree sounds like it was more due to being angry than anything which is a shame. All could have been avoided with better communication in ADVANCE. Not 30 minutes ahead of reservation time. Even with no changes they ask you to arrive 15 minutes in advance for a dining reservation.

At our visit to R&C last month, while we were waiting for our table to be ready we saw at least 5-6 parties of people try to walk up and get a table with no reservation. I was surprised at how rude some of their responses were to the CMs at the reservation stand when they were told there was no availability or they were welcome to wait, but there was no guarantee for a table. When we were seated I talked to the CM seating us and voiced my surprise at the responses I witnessed. She told me it happens all day, every day. Not excusing bad behavior IF the CM in the OPs statement DID roll her eyes, but I can certainly be a little more sympathetic to the CMs at R&C with what they have to deal with at times. It is extremely popular and we've experienced top notch great service from them.

On this same visit it began to rain hard enough to the point of the staff having to put the sides down on the patio. Rain still came in at the bottom and I was seated nearest to the side so hubby moved his seat on the end of the table to make room for me to move away from the side as my feet and legs were getting wet. But, the patio is a tight space and he was half in the aisle and didn't feel he should stay there so he moved kind of on the corner and I sat up close to him. Point being, it's a small space for the servers and other guests to move between the tables and the building. There were no chairs on the outsides of the tables because of this. Thankfully the rain stopped and the sides went up for Illuminations.
I remember once I heard of a CM at BOG tell someone when they asked how long the wait was, his response was "six months"....

I was considering R&C for the CP package but hesitated due to the kid offerings. Does anyone know if they have alternative offerings for kids? I have two kids on the autism spectrum that have sensory issues. What about vegetarian options?

I wonder if the guest stomped onto social media to say CAST MEMBER was rude and had an attitude?

So this is pretty much a guest behaving badly and trying to pass it off as the CMs were the one in the wrong. Good grief. Be grateful they were able to seat your extra guests at all. Maybe next time don't show up with extras and you will get a better table. And not one they have to throw together to fit your new party size.

Nothing but excellent service by accommodating my ADR for 12 to 14 by:
BONNIE at Be Our Guest
SARAH at Liberty Tree Tavern
MEMORY at 50's Prime Time Café
DAVID at Raglan Road
ASA at Teppan Edo
We will continue to frequent these restaurants and skip Rose & Crown.

And if you decide once again to show up with extras there is still not guarantee any of those places will be able to accommodate you. It is all luck and how busy the restaurant is at that exact moment.

I'm amazed you had the nerve to show up with two extra people at a total of SIX restaurants! 14 people is a huge group... Once you knew you had extra people you should have called Disney and spoken with someone about changing your reservations to reflect your new numbers. It's pretty inconsiderate to just show up and expect to be accommodated.

Janet, wherever you are, keep your chin up.

Aww I know Janet, I used to work with her at the R&C and she is the sweetest most lovely lady! I don't see what your issue is. If you don't want the risk of sitting outside in direct sunlight, maybe pick an all indoor restaurant next time as there is no guarantee where you will be sat at R&C.

There are vegetarian options and six different dishes on the kids' menu. My spectrum kid did fine if that's any comfort. She has sensory issues and weird food rules.

I once had a customer complain to management that I rolled my eyes at them. Luckily, the customer behind HER spoke up in my defense that I in fact had NOT done so and that I had been perfectly pleasant the entire time. So I am one to take the claim of eye rolling with a grain of salt.

Assuming that the "eye roll" actually happened.....and wasn't just added for extra ammunition. Although, I think I'd have to be super-human NOT to roll my eyes if I were in the cast member's place.

OMG, thank you!!! You just made up for two weeks of the most absurd posts I've ever seen on the DIS! LOL!!!!

I have one (on the spectrum and sensory issues) and crossed this one off of my list because nothing in the menu appealed.

Same here...R&C is a family fav for us and DS is on the spectrum and has SPD. He usually gets the fish and chips with an extra side of chips.

There's a difference between having a reservation for 3 and asking to bump it to 4 and having a reservation for 12 and asking to bump it to 14.

I think it's utterly ridiculous you are complaining about this and in fact should feel lucky they were able to accommodate you.

Though the attitude of the CMs at the restaurant was uncalled for

I disagree. Their opinion on the matter are totally appropriate. Rolling your eyes openly? OK, sure, that's unprofessional. Do it behind the guy's back and complain about it on notalwaysright.com and to their friends later instead. But you don't have to bend over backwards for requests like this. OP put an undue burden on the employees by taking an already large group and making it bigger.
