I've got ADR for 7:50 pm and am wondering if I'll get to watch the 9:30 Illuminations show that night from the restaurant. I'm hoping to - what do you think my chances are? We're on DDP and not sure how long a typical 3 course meal lasts there.

Any thoughts/insights?

cheers,
:santa:

we got in about 7:40 & were asked if we wanted to got down into the garden area in front for the 9PM show. We loved this restaurant! It was a second choice after Teppan Edo didn't open on time and we were VERY happy with our meals. Enjoy!!

You can't see the show from inside the restaurant, and patio seating is limited. I think you can go to the garden area though like the previous poster said.

Disney specifically tells you [when you make the reservation] that due to overwhelming demand, special seating requests cannot be taken.

I think you have a pretty good chance. Just request an outside table- you may have to wait a little while to be seated, but it is worth it. We had 8:10 ADR's and had on of the prime viewing spots- outside patio, outside row. We finished our main meal before Illuminations, but our dessert came when it was already dark for the show.

We had an ADR for 7:30. We were seated inside (there was a terrible thunder storm that evening so the patio was not open for dinner.) We told our server that we were interested in seeing Illuminations from the restaurant. When we finished our meal just before 9:00, she escorted us out to the patio. The tables and chairs were still covered in water from the storm so she asked if we would mind standing for the show. We told her we would not mind at all so she then took us to a roped off area to the left of the patio. Absolutely awesome.:thumbsup2 Needless to say, we tipped her well.:flower3:

Thx a mint all for sharing your experiences!

Sounds like it'll be likely to happen :goodvibes I'm delighted and so excited. I know it's just a request - I was more concerned that my rezzie might be just a bit too early.

cheers,
:santa:

Your time is good. We have eaten there twice during Illuminations. The first time, we were finished and waited around for a while to hold good seats. The second time, we were in the middle of our meal. They held our entree order in the kitchen and went out on patio to watch. We had to stand, but it was nice.

Now, not to be the bearer of bad news....BUT...we dont eat there for Illuminations anymore...because the two times we have been there, the wind blows lots of smoke and sut (sp?) right over the area. We loved watching from Mexico's counter spot and last time we were in Morocco, just watching the smoke all head towards England.

But...we say...Its all part of the experience...so HAVE FUN!!!!

We always book Rose & Crown just for the fireworks view. I always book around 7 and request the view. When we check in, we ask for a patio view, when they call us, we ask where the table is and if it is not a patio, we ask if we can pass until a patio table comes available, we have sat out there 3 years in a row for this very reason.:thumbsup2 Good Luck.;)

Lucked out by getting it this past Sept. by booking ADR's for 7:40 and when getting there requesting a patio seat, yours sounds like a real good plan to ensure getting a patio seat by booking for 7 and turning down and waiting for a patio seat. and this in my opinion is he best view for Illuminations.

I agree, I dont think there is a better seat in the whole park. It is definitely worth the effort to try. They can only say no right, if all else fails for us, which so far hasn't, the backup plan has been to go on ahead and eat that night and then come back another night to see the fireworks. Maybe book Rose and Crown earlier in your trip, so that if all doesnt turn out the way that you want, you still have another night that you can see Illuminations. You defintely dont want to miss it, it is awesome. :woohoo:

We lucked out on 12/5. Most of the area was congested by 8 pm. We got fish and chips and asked it we could sit in the patio area to the left of the entrance. The outside bartenders told us no problem. I went in and ordered 2 beers to go with dinner. We sat against the wall from 8:10 until the end of Illuminations and it was terrific. No reservations and no expensive dinner- 2 beers and 3 orders of fish and chips for the 4 of us. We felt like VIP's...worked out perfectly!

We were there last August. The hostess said that even if you don't get seated on the patio, they will bring you out there. If you do get on the patio, sit on the lower level, we were on the upper level and the higher fireworks were blocked from view.

I've had the same experience twice, with the smoke. I've also sat inside been moved to a bad spot on the patio.

I think about 1/3 of the seats are outside so it is a gamble and some of those tables are toward the podium and don't have a view so it IS a gamble. My experience has been they won't let you wait for a patio table. You get the first available.

I did have a great spot one trip, no wind, watched illuminations right at the end of the meal.

It is a gamble. If you get a nice table outside you might get lucky, just PLEASE don't yell at the waitstaff if you don't get the table you want or worse, walk out right after you are seated in a table you don't like. Seen it.:sad2:

I agree, I have seen lots of families walk right out because they were dissatisfied with their seating, thats why I suggested making your ressie early in the week and then if you dont get the seating that you want, you still have the opportunity to come back to get a better view of the fireworks. As far as the smoke goes, never had a problem, but who knows what way the wind will blow. There is no way to determine that no matter where you "plan" to sit, you could be sitting in oncoming wind either way. Just go and have fun and dont stress out, you are on vacation you know.;)

We did get patio seating for Illuminations once, but were seated under an awning which blocked our view. We had to get up and stand at the railing, because we couldn't see! So realize that even if you get patio seating, you might have to stand in a different area to watch.

A great place to watch it is at the japanese restaurant, the side facing the water.

There are so many great places all around the World Showcase lagoon to watch Illuminations that I can't imagine going to all this effort just to be able to watch them from the R&C patio. To each his own, I guess.
