Rope Drop or MVMCP - which would have lower crowds?

Our family is planning our first Winter Break trip! Our family (three teens, DH and me) is considering doing MVMCP as a way of avoiding MK really large crowds during our trip 12/17-12/21. But would going at RD be just as effective? Anyone have any advice?

RD will have lower crowds that slowly build to bigger crowds. By 11 AM you wouldn't notice any advantage. The parties are 7 to midnight and ride lines are for the most part very short the whole time, so you get more time with shorter lines. The crowds at the parties stay around the special meet & greets, parades and shows (the hub).
