I am going to be staying at the BWI from December 10-17 for the first time. What type of room should I request? I really want a view of the fireworks from the room. Also does anyone know how crowded it is around this time? Thanks for the help in advance.

From what I've heard you picked a great time to go. Crowds should be very low at this time. Which should give you a better chance at having your room requests granted.
We stayed at the BWI and had a standard room booked. 4 days before our trip I faxed a room request stating it was important to us to have a non smoking room with 2 beds, a daybed, and full balcony, as well as a veiw of the fireworks. We got a great room with our our requests met. Our balcony looked right at the Eifel tower and you could here the music from Illuminations. Keep in mind you will not be able to see the lower part of the show from the resort, but you can see the higher fireworks. When we made the ressie we also stated the above requests.
Good luck!

Didn't fax a request when we went in May. Had our preferences noted on our reservation. Non-smoking, high floor, courtyard view. Ended up with a room very similar to the one described above. 5th floor overlooking courtyard and World Showcase. Lovely. -HM

We had a garden view near the quite pool. We could see France and some high fireworks. It was so nice. Ask for a view of the fireworks and if they are avabale you will get one. It may be crowded we have been going around this time for years and each year it gets more crowded. It will not be as crowded as in the summer. Take your winter coat just in case some years it has been so cold. Have a wonderful time.

One of the many things I love about the BWI is that you can get a fabulous view in a standard view room. I also faxed ahead and requested "nice view, preferably high floor with the view of the fireworks". It was lovely! Like HM's room, it was on the 5th floor and overlooked the entire expanse of Epcot.

THEBIGBUG... welcome to the DIS boards! You will find such great info here for your upcoming trip!:sunny:

We stayed in a BW view room last time so this time we have requested "non-smoking, upper floor, Epcot view" room. We do not plan to fax a request, this is noted on our ressie. We have had our requests filled at both BWI and Poly.

Have a great trip. BWI is a wonderful resort!
