I did a little research. I believe these figures are acurate but it differs slightly depending on who's figures you take.

But here are the room sizes of the WDW resorts in sq feet for the reg room then also the price per square feet based on standard room views and the regular season.

RESORT - ROOM SIZE Sq Ft. - Sq feet per Dollar

Value's 260 sq ft. - 2.62

Moderates
CB 340 - 2.36
rest of Mod's 314 - 2.18

Delux
WL 340 - 1.42
AKL 344 - 1.44
BC,YC, BW 380 - 1.15
Poly 409 (depends where) 1.19
Con 436 (average) - 1.18
GF 440 - 1.15

I guess all I learn from this is you pay for what you get. GF is the most expensive and you get the biggest room.

So if you plan to stay in your room a lot then pay for it and get the bigger room. If you dont plan to stay in your room a lot why pay alot?

:flower1: Thank you! :flower1:

Very interesting! This helps me imagine the room size of AKL, where we're staying for the first time. It's also interesting to see the price per square foot! Thanks for sharing :flower:

Actually the original longhouses at the Polynesian have rooms that are 402 sq-ft but the newer construction which are 366 of their rooms are 452 sq-ft.

Not all the rooms at GF are the same size - the dormer rooms are a bit smaller.

Here is another list from Deb's All Ears Net.

Wilderness Lodge - 340
Animal Kingdom Lodge - 344
Beach Club - 380
Yacht Club - 380
BoardWalk Inn - 380
Grand Floridian - 400
Polynesian - 409
Contemporary - 422

I guess I can only state what the Polynesian is since I have copies of the original room construction for some of the buildings which give the room dimensions.

As in all things I think it fluxuates on a lot of differing things. Those numbers are just the average that I found on the web. It does give you a good general feel for room sizes.

Again it all depends on you. I know one family well that comes down each year from Wisconsin to Florida and visits Disney for a few days. They have money but always stay at the values. When I finally asked why they told me they hardly spend any time in their room and spend almost all the time in the parks and why should they spend a lot of money on a room. So everyone makes choices that are best for them.

I think the GF rooms are smaller than the Polynesian's and we've never had a dormer there. 440...no way! But we've only had 3 rooms there so who knows?

This is my first message btw. I have been to WDW only twice - once to MGM with my whole family and once to all the parks with 3 guy friends. I am planning a HUGE trip for me, my DW and DD for early 2006 - one that will be their first ever! My DD will be 8 years old. I've been lurking for a while writing notes and am excitedly planning all aspects.

Currycook.. it may be easier to understand the $/Sq. Feet.

The values start around $77 per night (rack rate), which would be $77/260 = $0.30 per Sq. Foot (per night).

GF starts at $339 per night (rack rate), which would be $339/440 = $0.77 per Sq. Foot (per night). It is more than double the cost per square foot AND 69% more square feet!

In Sq. Feet per $...
Values are 260 Sq Ft / $77 = 3.37 Sq. Feet per $1 (per night - rack rate)
GF is 440 Sq Ft / $339 = 1.30 Sq. Feet per $1 (per night - rack rate).

OdentonCouple I think you may be right and its easier to see it the other way, the way you have done it. I will have to figure it all out the other way.

I hope you have a great time, if you have any questions just ask away and welcome to the Dis.

It seems to be the consensus that Contemporary has the largest rooms. I'm excited to see for myself in March.

Odenton, Welcome to the DIS!
