They will never, ever, ever connect you to the front desk at the resorts anymore. I don't even know if the resorts still have resort specific phone numbers anymore but over a decade ago they decided to start routing everybody to the call center. If you called the Saratoga Springs resort front desk you were automatically routed you to the call center. If you got the completely different number for the Grand Floridian and called that it still routed you to that same call center. They just know what number you were trying to dial and they would answer it that way. I had several CM's try to tell me that they were actually there at the resort when they're not. They were at the call center. I'm not even sure you can dial those old numbers anymore. They're never going to transfer you to the front desk.
Of course all the resort numbers lead to a general call center. That’s why I call the switchboard, where they answer stating they’re an operator. It’s not that they never transfer you, they rarely will. You just have to know the magical number to dial.

You're getting a hold of the same people. That switchboard is the call center. You're not getting transferred to the front desk at any resort. I'm not even 100% sure they even still have phones at the front desk. You're not getting a hold of the resort. It's like when you call Target and ask to speak to a representative at your local store. Sometimes they'll tell you "This is (your local store). How can I help you?". You're not actually talking to the store. You're not actually talking to the front desk either. They may answer it and say "Saratoga Springs resort how can I help you?" But that's not the Saratoga Springs resort. I'm not sure how better to explain that.

Exactly. Their phone will indicate which location they are supposed to be and they will answer accordingly. Usually. It works the same way doctors' answering services work. They see the light/line/name/code and should answer whichever is displaying. (Every once in a while I've had someone slip up - even when I was calling for booking a Capture Your Moment package which was the Enchanting Extras Collection number but the girl who answered said "Disney Dining" and then explained that they pick up the Enchanting Extras line when it's overflowing and they have a spot.

Thank you, but there’s no need to explain it as I stated before that they don’t answer saying any specific place, just operator. I was trying to help the person with their question, nothing more. I use it most often to find out if Boma is serving oxtail, as their info is usually not accurate from other sources. It must be a total coincidence that I can hear the noise of the restaurant in the background, and when I arrive, actually converse in person with the CM that I previously spoke to on the phone.🤔 They do have all those extra name tags laying around, so maybe when they track that I’ve entered the resort via the MDE app, they race back, and grab the appropriate name. Sounds like another Disney conspiracy! Also, for future reference, if you’re trying to share your obviously extensive knowledge of WDW with someone that you feel is misguided, what you imply by putting a laughing emoji isn’t exactly polite. You killed the whole thing with it, really. Congratulations! I’d now consider what you’re saying about as much as I would from a Universal lover.

Ok, I'll bite...what is the "magical phone number"? Is it one of these? All call center "switchboard".

407-934-7639 - Regular modification number from MDE (when Modify button is missing or not working for you)
(407)-560-2428 - A good reference from the Disney Chat tool.
(407)-939-1936 - General Guest Services number
(407)-939-5277 - WDW Disney general reservation number
(407)-939-7866 - Guest Services call back number

Do us a favor? Call the number and ask them when fast pass is coming back? Be sure you ask for somebody specifically at the resort desk and not the call center. 😁
