Room requests - when is the right time?

We are checking in to AKL on Oct 18 - I've been trying to keep up with the construction and want to request a room. We splurged for the Savannah View w/BB.

Do you have better luck making an advance request or do you think as you are checking in is the right time? Our flight gets in early (9:15 a.m) so I hope that we might be able to check in early.

Call now and have CRO add the request to your ressie. Ask again at check in.

It has been reported by some that the resorts are so overwhelmed by people calling the front desk or faxing the request that they are no longer accepting those type of requests. The resort won't have your reservation until about 5 days prior to check in.

So call CRO, then ask again at check in.
