I am a new subscriber to page, although I have been reading it for many months. As you can see from my complete lack of icons, pictures, etc., I am technically challenged, so bear with me. I wanted to thank all the regular members as your posts were very helpful in planning the trip, even though I had stayed at the Wilderness Lodge on my honeymoon in 1997. We just got back from the Lodge. DH, DD(2 1/2), MIL, FIL and myself were there 9/13-9/20. We booked 2 woodsview connecting rooms. I was very diligent abouf faxing my room request and used this site to help me choose floor, wing, etc. for best possible view. Had hoped to do a concierge upgrade or courtyard upgrade at check in, but was told none were available b/c Lodge was full. They did a good job of meeting all of my requests except one. They put my DH and DD in a room with bunk beds even though I had requested 2 queens. Normally that would be fine, but my DH is 6'4" and I am almost 8 months pregnant. There is no way we could both fit in a queen. I had planned on sharing a bed with DD. When I called front desk and explained I was very pregnant and did not want to climb in and out of bunk beds, they were very helpful. He said he had nothing to move us to that night, but could move us the next morning. He mentioned that he saw my room request and wanted to know if I had an objection to a different wing of the lodge. He upgraded bOTH of our rooms to Courtyard view and was able to to keep us in connecting rooms at no charge. They also did not charge us for a refrigerator for the week. While it was a bit of a pain to pack up the next day, the lodge was very helpful in getting bags moved etc. LESSON LEARNED: if bed type really matters to you, explain why in your request. OTHER LESSON LEARNED: Courtyard view includes view of Wilderness Lodge Villas pool and not just the center of Lodge, Lake, and main pool. I knew this before booking and it was one of the reasons I did not book a courtyard room because I was afraid I would be dissappointed if I got stuck with view of Villa pool. ( I had room in Bear's face for honeymoon). Well, our upgrade was to the south wing, 2nd floor(lobby level), view of wilderness villas pool and we were THRILLED with it. Every day we would open our sliding glass doors and could hear the same music that played in the lodge lobby being played at the villas pool. We saw bunnies and birds every day and that pool is not very loud. While you cannot beat a view of the geyser, electric water pagent, and waterfalls, I found the other view enoyable as well. I also found the 2nd floor, south wing to be extremely convenient to buses, store, and even roaring forks because there is a nice cut through path by the waterfall. Next time I won't stress about my room request quite as much. IF anyone has any questions about this view, location, or traveling at Disney while pregnant let me know.
