Room requests at the Poly

How do I go about special requests for our stay at the Polynsesian? I would like to request not only a certain longehouse but also I have a list of room numbers that I would like to have. Has anyone made special requests for the Poly? I am wondering if I should do it by phone or fax or if they have a certain way they prefer.

I always make any requests when I book. We stayed at the Poly for the first time in September and I had 3 requests.....Samoa building, first floor, volcano pool side (I know....that was alot...but we really wouldn't have been upset if we didn't get any of them because they are only requests and not guaranteed)...but we got 2 out of the 3 (Samoa, first floor). We faced the quiet pool, which was actually very nice ::yes::. They were willing to move us the next morning if a volcano pool view became available, but we opted to stay where we were assigned and were glad we did :goodvibes. I have read on here, though, that giving specific room numbers isn't such a good idea :confused3. But I've never requested a particular room by number, so I don't know if it's possible to request that or not...or how easy it is to get that kind of a request granted . But good luck :). I do know the CMs do everything they can to fulfill requests, although sometimes it just isn't possible.

Requestign rooms is different than booking club level right? Like if I booked, I wouldn't request "can i please have club level hawaii lagoon view" I would book it AS club level, and my request would be "hawaii lagoon view" ?

Thanks!

Correct.

As you can see from my sig., we LOVE the Poly., and you are going to have a great time!!!!

We've always asked the CM to put our requests into the reservation when we call it in -- of course you know that these are just requests, and there's no guarantees, so we NEVER request a particular room. What we request is a longhouse and a floor, such as Tokelau 3rd floor.

I'm not sure how true it is, but I have definitely read that one should not fax a request, it gets you nowhere. Have also read not to request a particular room -- and we've always taken that advise to heart. Many of us have read Tikiman's site or others that do mention which rooms have better views, etc., and the CMs/schedulers get tired of that. Just think of all of the millions of room-nights they schedule and imagine how they might view your faxing in a list of which rooms are acceptable. Might not get anything like what you want, that's why we stick with the basic longhouse and floor request.

Good luck and I'm sure whatever room you get, you'll have a wonderful time.:wizard:

I always request when making our ressies. We always request Rarotonga and last trip they tried to put us in Fiji. They were more than happy to accomodate our request.

Have a good trip!

I think I just may be acronym overloaded but what is CRO?

Wanted to clarify my earlier post, what you said was correct EXCEPT that lagoon or MK view is also a "bookable" category (that you pay for). So if you're already paying for club, and you're already paying for an MK view, your request would be along the lines of what floor you want to be on.

You do realize that the more specific your request is, the harder it is for Disney to meet it, right? And lately even my general requests haven't met with that much success. I requested 3rd floor Raratonga at the Poly, and got 1st floor Tokelau. Next trip I requested to be in the Alligator Bayou section of POR, any building, and got put in the Mansions.:worried:

I can understand wanting a certain location or view, but I think it will be very hard to get a specific room number. You may get lucky, but try not to place too much importance on it.

Same here. I given up on requests period. :( I never had one granted when I first checked-in. I think I am zero for five now over the years. Though I did get one request granted by begging and pleading at check-in and they changed my room assignment. I can never understand here on the DIS when everyone always seems to get their requests. :confused3 It is obvious to me that no human ever read any of my requests the times I made them (and these were not outrageous requests either). There are thousands of check-ins a day - no human is sitting there trying to match every requests - a lot of it is automated and the computer just picks the room at random.

The only possible reason I can think of for why my requests are ignored over and over is that I am at the end of the alphabet! Maybe the CMs who assign the rooms (if they even do that for people with no special needs) start at letter A and never reach the end! :scratchin:

Oh well - maybe the OP will be one of those lucky ones! I sure never was! :guilty:

We loved the Samoa building!!!! The Cms call it the pool buliding and they think it's the best builiding at the resort because of the location. We loved it. Good Luck I hope you get what you want :)

Have a great trip!

I am with you on this one.In 20 + trips.I have never, ever gotten any requests. The only time I considered it a BIG problem was back when they had designated Smoking rooms( I have asthma), and even then the Cm was giving me a hard time.I don't even bother with requests anymore. If the room is totally awful(never has been) then I ask nicely for a different room.

We are at the end of the alphabet also and so far, have been very lucky on room requests. I know our luck cannot hold out and we are considering putting in no request for the next visit!

Central Reservations Office....they take the majority of the room reservations on the phone.

I wouldn't plan on faxing the Polynesian. From what I understand, they were one of the first resorts to stop reading them..got 'em and sent them to trash unread.
Call whomever you made your original room reservation with. Put in your requests from most important to least important. I usually put...Tokelau, third floor toward the lagoon.
If you start giving them specific room numbers, you may find yourself out of luck. Getting that specific usually winds up in disapointment.

I agree with the above posters. On our last trip, my only request was for a balcony room. We were rewarded with a monorail view from Rarotonga on the top floor. It was quiet, close to everything, and perfect for us.

Keep an open mind. Even if you don't get a specific room request, you will have a terrific vacation!

Most importantly, I would make sure that your requests is noted on your ressie (Not sure about being able to get an exact room though.)
We have always sent a fax restating our requests (never at the Poly though) as well a few days prior to arrival and have always gotten what we requested and had it confirmed that it was recieved. (So someone took the time to look over it and note it.) Maybe it helped, maybe it didn't matter, but it didn't hurt--so far as I am aware we have yet to be black listed for it. :lmao:
It doesn't hurt to ask again at check-in either.
