Hiya!I am a total DVC noob, seriously. I read things on here and feel completely under qualified to operate a time share

We just bought in Jan 2018 and the first trip we took was to Aulani in Sept. Now, being a homeschooling mom of 3 who barely remembers their names, I have completely forgotten how I submitted our room request(which they granted
). I know I had initially done the dumb drop down boxes under check in that basically say “upper floor, balcony, close to elevator”. I remember sending a very specific request ie. which tower, which xx room block. I do not, however, remember how or where I did this
I do remember reading about it on here, though! So hopefully, somebody can remind me? Pretty please? 
Also, what is a “Welcome Home Visit” week? I know about guaranteed weeks but haven’t heard of that?
Trying to expand my knowledge so I can help more and ask less
