:blush:Hiya!
I am a total DVC noob, seriously. I read things on here and feel completely under qualified to operate a time share :confused3
We just bought in Jan 2018 and the first trip we took was to Aulani in Sept. Now, being a homeschooling mom of 3 who barely remembers their names, I have completely forgotten how I submitted our room request(which they granted :cheer2:). I know I had initially done the dumb drop down boxes under check in that basically say “upper floor, balcony, close to elevator”. I remember sending a very specific request ie. which tower, which xx room block. I do not, however, remember how or where I did this :rotfl: I do remember reading about it on here, though! So hopefully, somebody can remind me? Pretty please? :worship:
Also, what is a “Welcome Home Visit” week? I know about guaranteed weeks but haven’t heard of that?
Trying to expand my knowledge so I can help more and ask less :daisy: TIA!

If you want to make a room request, call DVC Member Services and have them add it to your reservation. Then skip the drop down boxes when you do online check-in. I believe if you use the drop down boxes at online check-in, that will be used and whatever you called in will be ignored. Also, the drop down boxes at online check in often aren't even appropriate to the resort where you will be staying.

If you don't like to use the phone, you might be able to do this through online chat or an email. I have always made the phone call.

If you buy direct from Disney, when you are talking to your guide as part of the sale process, you can ask them to make a DVC reservation for you with your new points. The guide might be able to work some magic to get you the reservation you want. I think some people refer to this as a "welcome home visit" but "week" is not part of it.

Email you request is the way to go IMO. You don't have to wait on hold, just send them an email from your DVC account. They will add the request and email you when it's done.

That makes sense! I wondered why the drop down boxes seem so random! Thanks for the info! I was afraid I missed some crucial step with the welcome home thing! :D

did you make your first request using touringplans.com? They have a feature that allows you to look at the map of the resort and see which room(s) might be best for your preferences (many rooms have user submitted photos so you can see the view from the balcony). After you select a particular room, there is a button somewhere on the page that will allow you to send a room request via fax to the resort.

I always call in with my room request... make a note of date, time and who you talked to as this past Oct my room request didn’t make it to BLT and I had to give that info to member services . As member services points out these are only request but if you don’t tell them what you would like, you leave it up to the room assignment cast member.
