I wanted to know if anyone has stayed in a category 5 and how is it with the verandah. Will my kids climb and fall off.........I have a 5 year old and 1 year old
Also what is the room credit. I am going on the DVC Cruise in april and they gave our room a $150.00 dollar room credit and the lady said we use that on the ship. What can it be used for.....

Who is a tad confused:confused:

The railing on the verandah is quite high so the chances of them just falling over are virtually slim. As for climbing, all of the railing rungs are behind a sheet of plexiglass. The only thing they could possibly climb on would be the furniture on the verandah. Just make sure the kids aren't out there alone and you should be fine.

Your room credit can be used for any expenses you have on the ship, such as excursions, alcohol, photos, souvenir purchase and tips for the crew. It's just like having a cash balance but you won't get any money back if you don't use it up.

Also, just an FYI about your Cat. 5...they are exactly the same as Cat. 6 except they are one deck higher and a bit more expensive. If being on deck 7 isn't a must for you you could save some $$ by switching to a 6. The cabins are the same size, same configuration, etc. Cat. 6's are on Decks 5 & 6.

Have fun sailing!

We had 2 cat 5 connecting on deck 7 for our 3 day in December. The room was great. I think we maybe used the verandah a total of 2 hours over the whole 3 days. Not worth the extra money for us but if you will use it more then we did it might be worth it for you.
We are planning a seven day for 2003 and had planned on booking another cat 5 deck 7. After our 3 day in December we decided we could not wait 2 years to sail again so we are planning another 3 day cat 11 deck 7 for this December.
Since we liked deck 7 we think it will be nice to try the cat 11. We just think we could spend the money we save on the cat 11 instead of the cat 5 on excursions. Either way you will have a great time. Our kids loved being able to just walk right out in the sun from our room. The over $1500 we can save they can walk up a few decks and enjoy the sun. Your kids should be fine.

We had a cat 5 on our 7-day in Dec.
It was great.

As far as the credit goes you can also use it at the spa. :)

We both got Rainforest Room passes...ahhh.
There are so many ways to spend that money...its almost funny.

Have a wonderful trip. Wish we could join you on the DVC Cruise...maybe next time.

If you are really paranoid, you may want to request one of the rooms with a solid metal verandah rather than the plexiglass (although the regular kind are plenty secure too), or else do a Cat. 7 (Navigators) verandah. I have a photo of the different types on my website at www.castawayclub.com for comparison.

Thanks I checked your site before this and it was really helpful. As long as it has the plexiglass I am not worried.......
