Room Only Discount for sept 2012??

I don't know much about room only discounts, so forgive me. I am starting to plan a driving trip for next year with our new trailer. I want to stay on resort while there, but we will probably only do 2-3 days in Disney, and rest in the area (US probably). But I love the Dis resorts. So, I assume the room only discount will be our best bet.

I am REALLY hoping for a 40% for dlx as I've always wanted to stay there. What are the chances? Should I scoop up free dining instead and have our meals on resort at a mod? The days we are not at DW we can still eat breakfast there. I just don't want to miss Free dining for next year as they have posted the dates.

If it helps, I was looking in July and August 2010 on the WDW site for deluxe rooms, and on October 4th 2010, I was sent a PIN for 40% off deluxe. I am going September 22nd, through 30th,[Ocotober begins blackout dates]
I never saved a search, I have no idea how I got it, but I did. I had just gone to WDW in January 2010 staying at Value.

That is interesting. So with a room only, where do you go to buy the park tickets? I assume we will only be doing Epcot and MK, so monorail resort is probably the best idea for us.
