So I’ve always had a wooden bedroom set. I decided to buy a white one that is arriving 12/22. We will paint over the holidays , if not before. I just can’t decide on Colors. I was thinking maybe one wall dark, as an accent wall, and the rest white ? If so what color ? I am so bad at this. I’ve tried looking online, but I see cream, etc, I find this too light. Does anyone have any great ideas ?
Also any ideas for any comforter sets, decorating, etc 😀
I mentioned maybe wallpaper on one wall, and my husband isn’t too thrilled 😂. He still is not 100%, so painting is enough I think,

Something the designer we used to remodel our home suggested that we have come to really like is painting the walls one color, and the ceiling the same hue, but a couple of shades lighter.

I don't generally like a white wall. I find it a little harsh and clinical. Maybe with white furniture as well you might want a very light complimentary color to whatever you choose as your accent wall color?

I like a cozy bedroom. So I usually go for colors that are a little darker and a little warmer than I use elsewhere.

A white bedroom set with white walls isn't my vibe, but I can imagine rooms where it would look amazing. If that is what you decide to do, I would wait to pick out a paint until the furniture arrives so you can see what undertones the white on the furniture has and pick a paint with coordinating undertones.

Our room is currently Sherwin Williams Perfect Greige. It looks like a cross between tan and lavender in the space.

I’m glad you’re making a change and getting something you really like, mommasita. I did the same thing several years back in my bedroom - lived with eggshell colored walls and a pencil post bed for 20 something years. Changed it up and got a black king bedroom set. Painted the walls a burnt orange color and I use that color with green for the bedding and cream sheer curtains (which lighten it a bit, I think). It’s unconventional, but like it. I tend to really enjoy oranges/fall colors, so that was my inspiration. (Don’t mind the dog; that’s a pillow his head is on, lol.)

You can get ideas if you look on Google Images for ‘white bedroom set’. Many examples there of entire bedrooms. It’s all about what you like, though. Seafoam green might be nice and relaxing, or you could go with something bolder. Looking around I see grays, yellows, blues, browns. My DD just painted her bedroom (and entire apt) in taupe, and it looks really nice, and warm. Lighting plays a big part, as does furniture, accessories, wall hangings, rugs, pillows, etc.

Maybe you could look on some websites that sell bedding and get inspired by something you like, then you could take your wall color from that. This one’s nice, like a grey/green. I’m not a big accent wall person, but I’ve seen some that look nice. (It would probably bug me more than anything, lol.) I hope whatever you choose, you really enjoy it. ❤️

I did an accent wall when I first moved into my house because I thought the teal I picked would be too much for a whole room. I left the rest of the walls the light gray they already were. Then I lived with it for years increasingly hating the gray until I finally got around to painting the entire room teal a few months ago. I LOVE it.

I don’t think I would go with white walls and white furniture. I have white bedroom furniture and my walls are blue. I think it’s Benjamin Moore “Summer Rain”, but it’s been a while, so I’m not positive on the name. If I were going to paint the room today, I would choose a color with a little more green in it. Maybe Benjamin Moore “Quiet Moments”.

Good luck!

I don't have white furniture, but we painted the walls a deep red with a dark mustard accent wall... it's striking with the white ceiling and baseboards. And it's cozy.

I would get some of those small samples of various colors most paint stores sell. Paint a small area of the wall and see if you like how it looks. The tiny color chips in most paint brochures don't really give you a good sense of what they look like in your room. Paint can be named anything so I don't really get hung up on their names. I would choose a color that is compatible with the color of the bedding so they don't clash. What colors are in the other rooms of your house? A loud/vivid color may look out of place if the other rooms are all painted in pastel/light colors.

I've had the entire interior of my home painted. Took me a couple of years. Previous owners liked very dark colors, and mixed with some very bright ones too. Every ceiling was a different color than what the walls were painted. I eventually came across Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams and love it. I like that it's neutral. Sometimes it looks more gray/stone color and sometimes is looks more beige. I have crown molding and it's painted white. Crisp and clean looking.

I love this color! But do you really see lavender ?

Thanks everyone!

So I’m on break ( working OT to pay some of my set and things I want lol )

Quickly, @BlueStarryHat , couldn’t agree more about the clinical aspect
@Pea-n-Me , thank you so much! Oh that doggie 🐾 😍

My bedroom was/is grey, so I just can’t do any grey undertones.
I know I want a comforter set with brown and white in it. So I guess I need to find a nice taupe ish color ?

The rest of the house. Downstairs is white, lol. Upstairs here is open concept, and we have a neutral color everywhere. We are going to paint the entire house, but we are going one room at a time.

Thank you for the good ideas everyone.
, I know that I can’t do green, or lilac, I want something more neutral, as I change my mind throughout the year a lot lol, and change my bedding !

Considering you prefer neutrals, a beige or taupe is probably your best bet, and then bring in color with your accessories. I would buy the bedding first, so you can select a warm or cool tone based on how warm the brown is in the bedding under the lighting in your home.

You can use the same color in lighter and darker saturations if you want a feature wall. So a light taupe or beige on three walls, and then a medium taupe or beige somewhere between the light walls and the brown in the bedding for your feature wall. I would put the feature wall behind the head of the bed because the white bed will pop against the darker shade.

I am a color wall person myself. One bedroom is blue, one green, and my kitchen is bright yellow.

Taupe is so pretty! :goodvibes At some point we may do it over on our side, too.

This is the color DD used. (She’s in our in-law.) We stained the fir in our sunroom a similar semi-solid color and it’s beautiful.

Here are some taupe bedroom examples. (The white bedding is nice if you don’t have pets on the bed!)

Let us know how it turns out!

FIND YOUR COMFORTER FIRST!!
Sorry, didn't mean to scream but wanted to emphasize it because finding that is harder than wall color, imho.

I typically have summer and fall comforters to break up the monotony, so having a tone that will work with both was important to me. I tend to go with soft soothing colors for my bedroom and bathrooms. But for the bedroom, it all revolves around the comforter.

I see you are going towards a taupe. Nomadic Desert by Shewin Williams is a wonderful color I have throughout my home.
