have you ever stayed at Ron jons resort in the villas?? How far are the villas from the beach.

There are a lot of reviews about this place on Trip Advisor. It is 'near' the beach; they offer a tram to/from the ocean. I've heard a lot of negative things about the Resort. For example, they close the pool area at 5pm.

One thing, avoid the time share pitch. It is supposed to be 90 minutes, but I've heard people say they sometimes drag it out over 2 hours and get very rude when you say no.

I looked into staying there for 2 nights prior to our cruise in August. I was sent an email telling me they had a two-bedroom villa for a huge amount, can't remember what it was at the moment, but I declined it.
About 2 weeks later, I got a phone call from someone at Ron Jons telling me that they understood that I was looking for some available nights there and she could possibly help out on that. She asked me when I was going and how long I planned on staying. I told her and she announced that I was really in luck!!! She could offer me a studio at $99 a night, for up to three nights, at the right times for me. But I had to book it right then. Oh yeah, and go to the 90 min time share talk. I told her no thank-you, we weren't interested. She told me it was such a small amount of time to spend in order to get a great rate. I tried explaining that I was there for a day and a half and wasn't interested in a time share presentation...I already owned one and didn't want another one. I got calls two more times from them until I finally told them we had had to cancel due to family issues!!! If they are so hard sell just to get you there, I can only imagine what it's like once they get you in a room with a salesperson!! No thanks!

Glad that we have booked somewhere else! We were looking for a place to sleep and relax for an evening and night before the cruise. Who wants to spend "90 minutes" at a time share lecture? We got roped into one a few years ago, and it was longer than 2 hours before we finally got out of there.

We've stayed at the marriott residence inn, and this time, since the prices there have doubled for the same season, we're staying at the Days inn suites. We're not interested in luxury accomodations since we'll get that on the ship.

We stayed there the night before our cruise and liked it. We were never approached to do the time share presentation. The children's indoor playground was really nice and gave our dds a place to play and use up the energy they'd bottled up from the flight/travel to Florida. We would stay there again.

I was looking into Ron Jons for two nights before our cruise next May, but now I'm having second thoughts - I could not bear to sit through another Timeshare Sales Pitch! :headache: We want somewhere we can kick back and relax after our long flight from Scotland - thought we might get that at a surfer dude kinda place!

We stayed there in December 2006 the night before our 3 day Disney Cruise. We stayed in a studio, check in was fast, the room was nice and I would stay there again. It is a short walk to the beach or they do have a tram. They also have a building with rooms right on the beach. we did not have to listen to any sells pitch about the property. We are DVC members and I thought the property was a nice place to stay before our cruise.
