Hi all

We are at POR in May and plan to take children to Neverland Club and then DW and I plan to go out for a really nice romantic meal.

Can anyone suggest a venue that will be convenient taking into account the dropping off and picking up of children at Neverland Club

Cheers

CA Grill can be romantic, especially if you are there during the fireworks. They dim the lights in the restaurant, pipe in the fireworks music, and suspend service until the fireworks are over. Also, there is a great outdoor walkway where you can watch the sun go down over (sort of) the MK. It's a great photo op. The menu is great, but the restaurant can get noisy. The kitchen is open and ithe furniture doesn't divide space. CA Grill is located at the top of the Contemporary--accessable via the Monirail from the Polynesian, which is where I believe the Neverland Club is. Hope this helps!

My suggestions are Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney Studios (MGM) or San Angel Inn at EPCOT in the Mexico world showcase.

Rose and Crown especially if you can get outside seating - go about 7:30 and you'll probably be there for Illuminations. We did this last year and had a table right on the waters edge. They dimmed the lights and we saw Illuminations as we were having wine and dessert.

this is probably not even plausible.... but if you want something REALLY romantic, why not give Victoria & Albert's a try? :rotfl:

Actually, you might have better luck dining with Walt...

But seriously, if you were able to get reservation and have the flexibility, you can't get much more romantic than V&A :love2:

V&A is wonderful but very expensive. So here are some other alternatives: Narcoossees, Citrocos, Cal Grill or Artist Pt.

Victoria & Albert would be my first choice, too if it fits the budget. If not, for a quiet romantic dinner on the monorail circuit for easy access to the Polynesian, I second Citricos.

CG and Narcoossee's are both restaurants we love but not nearly as quiet if that matters to you.

My husband and I went to V&A in July and had an absolutely wonderful time. But it's pricey and it's not a "short" dining experience. But a great alternative is Citricos! The food is great. It's less expensive and not quite as "dressy" as V&A. It's very romantic and then if the weather's nice and you're up for a walk. You can take a stroll along the lagoon back to the Poly to pick-up your kids.

In a quick note...If you choose California Grill to watch Wishes, make sure you make your reservations at least 20 minutes before the Fireworks start. Once the fireworks start, they don't seat people. So it kind of backs up and then it takes them a little while to get everything flowing again. So you may end up having a very late dinner. But the view is nice and the food was good.

My suggestion would be (especially if your kids are rather young and this will be a first time experience for them at kid's club) that you book them into a club at the hotel you plan to dine at.

This may prove more reassuring for them and also give you some extra peace of mind so you may better enjoy your adults only time.

Our favorite is Wilderness Lodge. Our little one was very happy at the Cub's Den and if I am not mistaken, dinner was served to the kids if they were checked in by a certain time. You might want to search for posts too on how satisfied others are with the various kid's clubs at WDW.

At WL a romantic and great meal can be had at Artist's Point. And we find the overall atmosphere of the Lodge and grounds to be very romantic during the evening. Stroll the grounds after dinner, walk down to the dock, see the Electric Water Pageant when it floats by. And if you time it right (when there's enough time before MK closes for the evening) you can even ride the boat transportation between WL, Fort Wilderness, MK and back.

This idea is better than my suggestion of CA Grill!

I love the Artist's Point atmosphere and think its one of the most romantic at Disney. Although I haven't eaten here, my husband has (with my father) and I have checked the restaurant out.

Another option would be the Kona Cafe at the Poly. It would be convienient to the Neverland Club, and has great food (and, as I've just said, is the best finer dining value on property - it isn't fancy schmancy, though - and not "really nice and romantic")

The GF restaurants are close to the Poly - it isn't a huge deal to walk back if you get paged, so if you are looking for traditionally romantic, I'd do Citricos (assuming V&As isn't in the budget).

Citricos at the GF (there have never been many kids when we have dined here) or the CG at the Contemporary.

I think DH and I are among the few who would not go back to V&A's. If we want a really high end meal, we would rather do it at home. We thought the food was good, but not great. Also, dragging the "dress up" clothes on vacation to WDW was a pain for us. (Particularly, having to bring a jacket and tie for DH.) However, we both have to go out for "fancy dinners" for work often, so it just did not feel magical for us.

You can wear very nice clothes to any of the GF restaurants and not look out of place--but you don't HAVE to.

By the way, my kids love Neverland. We have never been paged.

Have fun!

Cheers everyone

We are going for 3 weeks and after all your ideas I think the kids will be in the neverland club everynight !!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

You are missing an obvious and great place. Boatwrights dining hall right at POR is a very romantic place to eat and has excellant food. Ate my 35th anniversary dinner there last year, followed by the horse and carriage ride around the grounds. Extremely romantic and wonderful.
