Romance Disney Style... Any ideas?

Ok my husband is planning our 10 yr anniversary, I want Disney, he wants Disney, soooo Disney it is, BUT I want romance! Any ideas how to make a week away from two kids and Mother In Laws, all alone just the two of us, romantic? I know about _ _ _. But well hes a dope and I would like to help him, plan with out helping him plan........... Does that make any sense?

Some of our romantic experiences: Dinner at San Angel Inn, table waterside; Rose and Crown for dinner and Illuminations, Illuminations cruise, boat ride to Downtown from Port Orleans at night, Bistro de Paris, having dessert at Coral Reef, pastries at the Patisserie during Illuminations (pretty quiet because everyone has run out to watch Illuminations), sitting on one of the WDW beaches (Poly, Beach Club, etc) at night; many, many more things!

Dinner at the castle; dinner and firework show at California Grill; fireworks cruise; grabbing an ice cream at downtown Disney and sitting by the water; carriage ride; do a couple spa at the Grand Floridian; go horse-back riding; going to one of the beaches at night and just sitting there (CBR has a nice little area were you can just sit with a drink and relax).

first of relax! seeing everything in WDW is not the focus of this trip.

first of all where are you staying?

some resorts are more romantic than others.

value - Pop - okay I just love lakes

moderate - PO (r or fq) - I like POR the mansion. some people like the FQ. (it is how the FQ likes to be remember - nothing even close to the truth)

deluxe - Polyn or WL or BC - all have a beach. Polyn and WL are MK resorts. BC is an Epcot resort. All are romantic in different ways.

How about a Horse Drawn Carraige Ride at POR...Its like $30 for 30 minutes...very romantic and you get a nice tour of the property...

I thought GF was incredibly romantic all by itself. Sitting on the balconey in the early morning drinking coffee and watching MK come alive ... sitting on the balconey at night watching Wishes and the water pagaent ... the sitting area on the second floor of the main building as the orchestra played ... room service ... everything was so wonderful!

This is probably cheesy. My Dh and I really connected just holding hands walking in the park one day We were always pushing strollers or holding kids hands, etc., etc., whenever we were in the parks with the kids.

We went to Pleasure Island and had these rings carved with each others names. We both still have them and this was over 15 years ago. My DH wore his everyday for the longest time.

By the end of that trip we were skipping down Main Street with Mickey ice cream bars. It really wasn't a pretty sight. When the distractions of home were gone we just connected for a really romantic trip. Nothing really planned, just relaxing with each other. No one could believe that was our idea of an anniversary trip, but we loved it. We are returning for our anniversary again this year. Hope you have a wonderful time.

I think that walking around the World Showcase at night just drinking a beer & holding hands is the most romantic thing ever. DH and I always take just one night and spend it childless while we are there. Last year we did dinner at Alfredos (not a recommendation) and then just walked around the WS until the fireworks started. After we strolled to the boats by the UK & took the boat to MGM & caught our bus to our resort there. Even the boatride was romantic.*sigh*

Disney is just magic- with or without kids (especially if you're good at tuning out the screaming ones)

Just and FYI, I keep my husband checking this thread, so lets hope he gets some good ideas! After 10 yrs and 2 kids, I was thinking we had very few romantic moments, Maybe we both dont know how to do this! lol

Animal Kingdom Lodge concierge or akl no concierge.

Savanna view room or (gasp) SUITE

They do a romance package in room dining where they set it up on your balcony . . . its a romantic resort in general.

(My husband gave me an event in the Magic Kingdom for our 25th, but he had a lot of help from a knowledgeable Disney Loving friend, and I know it cost him a packet.)

in room dinning (room service!!!!)

I like Kona cafe at the Polyn - but probably 'Ohana is more romantic

some people like Narcoossee.

I also like water - so I love the food court at POR - lunch only....

Narcoossee's is loud, but if you can get a window table during the fireworks, I think it's the most romantic thing, to hold hands while the lights dim, the music plays, and fireworks explode over the lake. Lovely...
Another thing you could do, if you wanted to really splurge, would be to rent the Grand One yacht for a Wishes fireworks cruise. We did that, as the grand finale of our wedding day, and it was pure magic. We sat on the deck, felt that lovely breeze (even in August!), and enjoyed the most special night of our lives.
If you like adventure, we made some amazing memories parasailling; that was something we can look back on, that marked our wedding/honeymoon trip as something truly out of the ordinary.

It is pretty romantic by itself - all lite up at night....

of course the bw is pretty loud and kid friendly - but you can walk around it.

DH and I stayed at AKL when we got engaged. I agree with the other posters that this is a very romantic hotel. We had two very memorable meals on our trip. The first was Artist Point. They even made up our own menus that had congratulations for our engagement on them. I have no idea how they knew. We didn't note it anywhere but we did have an awesome CM check us in at AKL and he did ask why we were there. We also had a nice meal that I scheduled late at Le Cellier so we could maximize our time at World Showcase. Our ADR was for 8:15 and the restaurant got emptier and emptier as we sat. It was nice and the food was great. We really liked Big River Grille but it wasn't as much romantic as it was funky and cool. We don't go out much without kids so it felt like a night out when we were younger. Hot tubbing at AKL late at night was nice too. I second something from room service or the bakery at AKL. We had chocolate covered strawberries and it felt very indulgent. I hope you have a great anniversary trip.

Depending on your budget, I've heard that one of the most romantic meals you can have at WDW is at Victoria and Albert's at the GF. Have not had the opportunity to try it yet - DH and I have our fingers crossed that we'll get a ressie for our upcoming October trip.

Some of our romantic favs:

Afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian - we take turns pre-ordering something special from the GF bakery to surprise each other (last time I ordered Cinderella's slipper...it was divine). We also order a glass of champagne with our tea.

We like to order cookies and milk from room service at the Beach Club on the first night of our stay (we're DVC members and we usually stay at the Beach Club Villas) and then take them out on the balcony for an evening snack under the stars.

The Food and Wine Festival - if you ask me the whole set-up in the world showcase is romantic. We eat our way around the world, sharing everything...feeding each other, getting each other tipsy, generally acting like fools. It makes for a very liesurely afternoon and during the weekdays it seems less crowded than it is at night, especially when the Magic Kingdom is hosting Mickey's Halloween party.

Strolling the Boardwalk at night...playing some of those silly carnival games and then renting one of the tandem bicylcles.

We haven't tried any of the spas at WDW, but I'm a spa junkie and it's on the list for this year! I make sure on every vacation we take that there is some type of massage or facial or wrap...well you get the picture! Even better if you can have a couples spa experience, but we've also done different treatments at the same time. One of the best couples massages we've ever had was actually on Castway Cay when we sailed last October on Disney Cruise Line - it was a cabana massage on their adult beach. Unbelievable and unforgettable.

DH and I dont even have kids and this is our favorite thing to do-- it is so relaxing and romantic just walking, holding hands WS at night is the best-- OH-- and dont forget besides the beer- try a Kir Royale in France-- its yummy-- champagne and chamboard!
