Rolling backpacks seen in parks

Hmmm ... that's an interesting question. I bet they would prefer that you not use it indoors because of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. But ... since there is no explicit policy, I don't see why not!

What's really sad is that it bothers you enough to plead your point to this level.

Like wdwoldtimer I joined this thread for the humor of it.

But I can't help but point out that you DID say that you have nothing to say to Robin, didn't you? Call me crazy, but I believe you just did. Mean what you say, say what you mean.

You know what? I think you are quite rude and really I have nothing to say to you. I've read your others posts in the other thread about this as well and can say I'm not the only one you are rude to. I appologize to bother you so badly. Sheez.

Does that grill include a place to hold a resort refillable mug? And will Disney refill it for free in the park? Or should I just fill it up at Ice Station Cool? pirate: :jester:

I'm not sure if the Char Broil Fire and Ice Combination Grill and Cooler can wind it's way through Ice Station Cool for the refills very easily. I think they need to add a special entrance or docking port for those of us who use the CBFICGC. Now if they'd only make an optional recliner or day-bed attachment....

But there is a special entrance! There is a ramp at the end that is plenty wide enough for the CBFICGC.

Now if they'd only make an optional recliner or day-bed attachment....

Ah ... wouldn't that be great?!? You'd be able to fit a 5th person in your All Star Sports room. What a savings :cloud9:.

Some people might complain about the size of the CBFICGC...but think of all the great real estate you can reserve along the parade route with it!

Who needs the All Stars? The Odyssey building in Epcot is empty and wasting away! And it has handy bathroom facilites. Enough for any large family!
Need a shower? There are two nearby fountains that should work! ;)

Next time I'm at WDW, I'm asking Guests Relations about the policy, and if they tell me wheeled bags aren't allowed, I'm pointing them out to every CM, just like I do the smokers not in the designated locations. If it's the rule that you can't have them, then you shouldn't have them. Nobody's better than anyone else, and we all should follow the rules.

What a great way to spend your vacation...............

I think I can answer that for Robin. You have posted all of 7 times and all of your replies and comments have been, well, rude for the most part.
It seems that all of the people who just lash out about some comment are always people with less than 5 posts...referred to as a TROLL! For some reason I would be willing to bet you do not inhabit caves, however. :)

And you did post anonomously, we all do for the most part.

And what would you consider most of the other replies?

I posted the first time because I could not believe how intolerable and unfair some of the people here were. I could have just picked a name without registerinig and posted a comment, but I took the time out to register because I wanted to participate. As soon as I posted, I get attacked by people telling me how rude I am for bringing a backpack. I get accused of not know about a disease that I was diagnosed with, and have lived with for 15 years now. ( Side note, I have cut my meals in size, and eat about 6 times a day. This keeps less acid in the stomach at a time, and helps with the reflux because the stomach is not so full. I'm also on nexium which helps tremendously. ) And I get called a troll. You people are reading your own tone into my posts. I am not a mean person at all. This whole topic is stupid. You have no clue who I am, what I do, how long I carry my pack versus roll it, if I've ever hit someone with it, but you will still just generalize that anyone who has a desire to carry a rolling pack is an evil, mean spirited person. You could not be more incorrect. Not everyone hurries around the park, cutting people off, rolling over innocent children and the elderly. Some of us have the decency to pick our stuff up and watch where we walk. Even that is not good enough for you people.

So, you do what makes you feel good, and I will do the same. And I promise that my backpack will not be your issue.

No, but someone's something will be the issue. Someone will smoke, or have a stroller, or their child will misbehave, or they will talk too loudly on the cell phone, or be on the cell in a line, or cuss, or bring in snacks, or cut in line, or slam their resort room door or drink, smoke on their balcony or whatever. My point is, it doesn't matter. Miserable people can't magically be happy because they are at WDW.

Maybe people should spend more time paying attention to where they are walking than what people around them are doing!

Oh and BTW, Official Policy at WDW is to make money. Money comes from everyone so if you think WDW is going to alienate ANYONE you are very very naive. They will tell you one thing and someone else another just to keep everyone happy and keep raking in their money.

Different thread, Champion. :p

I think Disney should buy a few thousand of those Roomba Vacs they sell at Sharper Image and have them running around wild in the MK picking up litter. That would make the walk down Main St. after Wishes interesting.

DH is going to KILL me when he finds out that grill we donated to the charity auction last summer could have saved us tons of money at WDW last week! It was brand new! Better yet, we could have sold it on e-Bay in a rabid bidding war between DISers!

I actually only saw ONE rolling backpack while we were there. It was at Epcot, and it was REALLY far away from me.

I saw lots of people smoking and walking, which bothered me more than the far away backpack woman. Especially the ones who were trying to hide the cigarette in their hand, because it was obvious that they KNEW they weren't supposed to be strolling along with it!

Peace, everyone!

I think rolling backpacks are just inconsiderate.... you have no idea who you are cutting off or rolling over...I wish they would make sure people dohn't bring them in the parks.

 Not to just pick on Zurgswife, but a backpack does not have the ability to be considerate, they are a thing. It's the person who operates them. I personally just take a normal sized backpack in. That holds everthing my husband, my two year old, and I need. But I don't feel imposed on if someone brings in a rolling pack. Last January a woman in one of those Jazzy things, rolled over my foot and didn't apologise. But I could see that she was frustrated trying to get around. I suspect those packs are a pain to pull around all day. I wonder if they don't just try them one day and leave them behind the next.

Perhaps it's inconsiderate to have disdain for someone using one of these packs unless you know what their situation is.

Not being sarcastic in any way... Thank you Zergswife, I know others feel the same way you do.

Same people. "Queen". If you think people do not carry grudges between threads, especially those with the same topic, you are very very naive.

Wait, you are on to something. They can rent the Roombas out as in-park transportation.

I think they should give out complimentary ones to the Pop Warner kids and South American tour groups. :teeth:

What a refreshing thing to see such a sense of humor around here. I love it!! We all have our pet peeves but we gotta have a sense of humor about things or it will ruin our lives. There is not one person who does not do something that is irritating to someone else, we often do not even know what we have done or have been caught in one of those moments when we just plain cannot help ourselves but few ever do things on purpose to be pains in the rear, and those who do do such deserve to be ignored cause they do it for the attention and I am not giving it to them. LOL My grands have figured out that they are going to get my attention when they are being good but when they are not I do not k now them., (grin) BTW, I am very aware of when I stop in the parks now because of a post I read about how hard it was for the people behind me. I have honestly never thought of that before but there are many who have not ever read such information and when confused in the parks they stop in their tracks. Maybe we need to install brake lights on our backpacks??

Queen -never truer words have been spoken " Miserable people can't magically be happy because they are at WDW. ". (or on the Boards for that fact) Count up how many people are posting positive or thoughtful thoughts and how very few are being obnoxious and out of them how many of them are not obnoxious at all but maybe just being misunderstood cause we cannot see their deamenor? I know I have problems with that cause I am a bit ornery and if you read my words without seeing my smile you might take me wrong.

BTW, where I can rent one of those round vacuum things for my next trip and do they come in heavy duty sizes?

Slightly Goofy

Yeah....there's one way to curb the use of rolling backpacks (RBs). Make them install tail lights and those beep-beep backup things on them too. If it's good for the scooters, it's good for the RBs.

This is why Robin's idea of the CBFICGC is brilliant. It grills, it keeps your food and drinks cold AND the general use storage compartment really blows any backpack away. You can fit all your park necessities in it like..

sun block in every SPF rating,
sunglasses,
hats,
ponchos,
extra shoelaces,
a sewing kit,
Gameboys and portable video players to occupy restless kids,
tripod, bipod, monopod and iPod
two full sets of extra clothing for the entire family,
board games (we prefer Risk and Monopoly) in case the kids get tired of their electronic nannies,
a bicycle tire repair kit (you never know),
charging cords for cell phones, PDAs, iPod, GPS, camera, Gameboys and camcorder,
portable air ionizers/purifiers in case you get stuck next to one of those smelly families that don't speak English,
a manicure set (can't let a hang nail ruin your day),
lip balm,
extra bunion pads,
nose hair trimmer,
a couple books (with mini reading lights for when you're stuck in those long Space Mt. lines),

and of course duct tape.

You never know when you might need this stuff and God forbid you get stuck in the parks and not have all the comforts of home at your fingertips.

I'm sure you've missed something - what about the laptop to download pictures during the day or a mat or sleeping bag so that you can be comfortable while taking your in-park midday nap? Or maybe one of those cool bubble jet footbaths so that you can soak your feel while at a show? I know you can get one of those portable outlets that can also jumpstart your car and use that during the day to power anything you need...Plus, it could be a great flashlight to use when it gets dark outside - kind of like a headlight for your CBFICGC
