Rolling backpacks seen in parks

Yeah....there's one way to curb the use of rolling backpacks (RBs). Make them install tail lights and those beep-beep backup things on them too. If it's good for the scooters, it's good for the RBs.

This is why Robin's idea of the CBFICGC is brilliant. It grills, it keeps your food and drinks cold AND the general use storage compartment really blows any backpack away. You can fit all your park necessities in it like..

sun block in every SPF rating,
sunglasses,
hats,
ponchos,
extra shoelaces,
a sewing kit,
Gameboys and portable video players to occupy restless kids,
tripod, bipod, monopod and iPod
two full sets of extra clothing for the entire family,
board games (we prefer Risk and Monopoly) in case the kids get tired of their electronic nannies,
a bicycle tire repair kit (you never know),
charging cords for cell phones, PDAs, iPod, GPS, camera, Gameboys and camcorder,
portable air ionizers/purifiers in case you get stuck next to one of those smelly families that don't speak English,
a manicure set (can't let a hang nail ruin your day),
lip balm,
extra bunion pads,
nose hair trimmer,
a couple books (with mini reading lights for when you're stuck in those long Space Mt. lines),

and of course duct tape.

You never know when you might need this stuff and God forbid you get stuck in the parks and not have all the comforts of home at your fingertips.

Wait! You forgot about inflatable rafts for when you pool hop!

Adding all of those to my list except for the flashlight. I keep that, along with extra D-cells in my fanny pack.

I'm thinking maybe the inflatable raft can do double duty for the mat/sleeping bag. I don't want to lug around something I don't really need after all.

My apologies, I guess you aren't following.

I was stating that civileng68 in one thread claimed that they had nothing futher to say to robinb. The grudge was carried from a different thread (thanks for pointing that out) to this one. My comment was referring to this. If you say, "I have nothing to say to you." Then don't say anything.

I agree that the real problem is rude people, not the rolling backpacks. But I wonder why Disney states that they are not welcome in the parks and then lets them in. You might reason that they don't want to anger a paying guest. But are they not then liable if someone is (claims) to be injured by a rolling backpack? What if someones child trips and hits their head? I can just see some sue-crazy person trying to take Disney for all they can. "But your Honor, the person at the gate let this lady in with her deadly rolling-backpack, even though Disney strictly forbids this. So isn't it Disneys fault my child was hurt as a result?" Sorry to carry on so, but it seems to be kind of stupid on Disney's part. And yes, I am one of thoes people who do not use their refilable mug on more than one trip to the world, whoe does not lie about childrens ages to get a deal, and who does not cram 8 people into a room meant for 4. So bring on the ridicule! I can take it!

Well, yeah, but after poking all those air-holes in them I couldn't find any other use for my rolling backpack, so I had to stop. It just wasn't cost effective!

My sis in law and her family are going to WDW next month and she mentioned bringing a rolling backpack so I told her about how I'd read the posts on DIS about that so she called Guest Services and after being put on hold and transferred a couple times she was told that she could bring a small backpack but even if it had wheels it could not be wheeled on the ground within the parks. It would have to be worn so it wasn't on the ground. They said they have had complaints about them and they are a tripping hazard to other guests. They suggested that if she didn't want to carry her backpack for her to rent a locker for storage.

Tell your SIL to forget the rolling backpack, even if it's not actually banned, Disney doesn't like guests to use them. She really should consider using a CBFICGC instead. For a nominal fee, she can join my CBFICGC club and get a monthly newsletter on how to bring as much stuff as possible to the parks as well as grilling tips, a special t-shirt, patch and lanyard with laminated membership card.

She's not going to bring one. I told her I thought it was a bad idea but she had to hear it from Disney herself. I like your CBFICGC idea though. LOL. She could pack a couple of wine coolers and her dh some Coors in the cooler part, and nothing like eating a big old t-bone on Main Street while you watch the parade?

I'm sure you've missed something - what about the laptop to download pictures during the day or a mat or sleeping bag so that you can be comfortable while taking your in-park midday nap? Or maybe one of those cool bubble jet footbaths so that you can soak your feel while at a show? I know you can get one of those portable outlets that can also jumpstart your car and use that during the day to power anything you need...Plus, it could be a great flashlight to use when it gets dark outside - kind of like a headlight for your CBFICGC

You forgot the blow up air mattress to assist in really enjoying the fireworks.

Ah, SG ... the other thing that sets the CBFICGC head and shoulders above other grills is that it has so many hidey-holes that security just can't check them all! Make sure to stash your extra-sharp steak knives in one of the secret compartments. You would be sure to have them confiscated otherwise. You just can't enjoy your t-bone properly with that plastic Disney cutlery.

You gave me a great idea! Perhaps we CBFICGC Club members should create a CBFICGC Swap, much like the stroller swap, for those less fortunate. Let's talk about it at the next meeting, shall we?

robinb, I had never thought that WMD might be stowed away amidst the rolling comfort station. Speaking of which, might you not add a pop up tent to the ensemble and thus negate the need for a motel room as well. Seems to me that there are many spots that would be perfect for setting up camp if the cleaning staff does not disturb our rest. Anyone know of any good spots near restrooms?

Please add me to the list of swappers. I will be there in November for sure and April possibly. Of course, if I can assemble my own private conglomeration I might be able to afford to stay from April to November. Might make more sense to stay from November to April though as the snow gets awfully high here. Just think what I could save on heating bills as well.

This thread might need to be moved over to the Budget Board.

I might need to be included in the swap since I am not 100% certain if the winning bidder of the donated auction grill is someone we know. Of course if we know them we will just borrow it!

A glaring need that none of you have brought up is the need for decent coffee. Therefore, we must remember to save enough room for a grind and brew coffee maker, bottled water, and special beans (pick your favorite). As the grill comes with a griddle feature I am sure we will want coffee with our bacon and eggs!!

See, now there's a kid that knows how to do Disney in style and comfort! I think we found the poster child for the Club recruitment package and fund raising material. See how happy she is? Sure, she's in the Magic Kingdom on a beautiful day...but what she's really smiling about is she knows that everything she could possibly need is right there in her CBFICGC. I'm starting to tear up.

I haven't yet seen rolling backpacks at WDW.

But I see them all the time, every day, on the subway going to and from work.

I hate them. They're definitely a tripping hazard when there's enough of them around.
