Roll call for the 10/23/2004 Western Magic. Who's with us?

Hi Froggy Flo,

DH and I do not speak any French (some German, a little Spanish, but no French). Theoritically, my DS5 has been learning French for 4 years - classes 2 times a week at his Montessori school. However, I have no idea if he has learned anything or not since I don't speak any! Maybe we will discover if he knows anything if he talks to your DD...

Carla - FantasyFest in KeyWest seems to be their version of Mardi Gras. Since they find it necessary to "remind" people that body paint does not count as clothing when in public, I am not sure my midwestern sensibilities are up to this. I get the impression that it is very popular with those of "alternative lifestyles". It will begin the weekend we are there, but it really peaks the following weekend for halloween. ... still no info from my TA on docs and I still haven't started packing my clothes :(

Pamela

Julie, Mexicali night is now Pirate Night. The menu is on the Platinum Castaway Cay site. There are now a bunch of piratey things happening, have not read much on the subject to maintain surprise. Since we are spending Halloween at WDW and having to catch our plane that night, my kids won't get to Halloween Trick or Treat, so we are gonna "Camp it Up" that night.

Question to Everyone:

Is everyone dressing up for Pirate night? And if you are, what are you gonna wear??

Smiles.

DS5 will definitely be dressing up as a pirate! He had already decided to be a pirate last spring before we even booked this cruise and has been planning on bringing his costume since we first started planning it. (Grandma almost has it finished - just working on the shirt) He also wants to be a pirate on formal night since he is a "dressy" pirate like Capt. Hook. My mother commented that he could take off the hat, patch & hook and he would look like Prince Charming - when I suggested that to him, he was horrified because the Prince in Shrek was "yucky". I explained we meant a prince like in Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, etc which did seem more acceptable!

DH and I are going to stay with "Tropical" that evening. At most, there might be an eye-patch or something. We had already planned for tropical and DH has a great LOUD shirt with parrots on it! From what I have been reading on the boards, there is still a tropical feel to the evening and many people are still dressing that way.

I'm having enough trouble finding something I like for formal night, I am definitely not starting to shop for pirate outfits also

Bienvenue Floggy Flo! :)

Je ne pas parle Francais beaucoup, but my DD 7 & my DS 10 go to a french Immersion school (L'Etoile du Nord) since kindergarten. They both speak, read, write, & understand french pretty well. Obviously by 10 year old does a better job at it than my 7 year old. :) So, our DD's should be able to communicate pretty well.

Ronnie, We will be dressed in tropical w/ a little bit of pirate. pirate: If that make's any sense? :sunny:

Hi all, :wave2:
Sorry to bring up the pedicure thing again but I had to chime in and tell you that Kristy and I have one at least once a month we love it. If you have never tried it just do it once in fact if you can try it on the ship at the spa.
Pamela, great idea on the name tags as long as you don't mind doing all the work.
Do we all have our docs yet?:hyper:
OMG we leave 12 days from tomorrow:cool1: :jumping1:
I am so not packed yet. I have to start this weekend because of my work schedule the next 12 days I will have no time to pack.

Hope you all have a great day, talk to you soon.

Cheri - I have sent you a couple of PM's - maybe you don't have the notification thing turned on ....

Pamela

Ladies : go get a ped this Saturday (a practice one ...) Then get the "real one right before we sail. I, personally, like tiny palm trees or flowers on the toes.....

Guys: blah, blah, beer, blah, babes in bikinis, blah, blah, margaritas, blah, fun parties with fun people, blah, redneck word: poppyseed === poppyseed you lookin' at them dirty magazines.

Beano, be nice and refresh the memories here ... are we doing a sail-away party? I know there is a "special" one for returning cruisers. Aren't we doing one of our own? (Sorry too d*mn lazy to go back and look at the posts)

Cheri - take a look at the website www.bwdarrah.com/dcl on the "Useful Stuff" page is info on the various meets that have been mentioned here on the board. I'm up way past my bedtime, so I'll reply to your PM in the morning :) Since I am running the office alone tomorrow I really should get some rest!

Docs - My TA finally emailed that she sent them Priority Mail today. With luck, I might get them Saturday....

Night-night all,

Pamela

Ronnie - I will also wear tropical with a touch of pirate!!!

My plane takes off in 2 weeks today. I would be sitting on the plane right now, probably trying to sleep and rest up!!!

Cheri - As far as a sailaway party, we usually just gather up on deck 10, above the Goofy pool, and get to know each other a little while we celebrate getting our cruise underway. We do this right after the lifeboat drill. Ah, lifeboat dirlls. Aren't those fun??!

Our private party for the DIS'ers on this thread is on Wednesday (Cozumel day) at 3:00 PM in our stateroom. Ya better be there!:)

Kamgen came up with a pretty good redneck word last night. I see that she hasn't posted it yet.

The word is: motif

I fell off my skateboard and hit my mouth on the pavement. Now I got to go to the dentist so that I can get some motif.

We need to hurry up and post more. Denine's post is gaining ground on us. Where is everyone? This post is usually flying.

Fine, i guess i should get back into it also

redneck word: nascar

In my younger days, preteen, i used to have call my mom and nascar if i could hang with my friends. or My buddy had to call his wife and nascar if he could go to a "special" bar with me.

using a true redneck word in a new sense.

patrick

Motif - that's a good one. Leave it to Kamy! :teeth:

I am only posting because Tim told me to. I do what Timmy says.

Redneck word: Jevver

"Jim-Bob, jevver git them new boots ya wanted"?

'Beano'

It's so hard for me to post during the day now...but here's my contribution to the thread! :) LOL Because we all do as Timmay Tells Us To!

It's the new Simon Says game...instead it's Timmay Tell's Us To! :)

Love the Motif word Kamy...I've gots to find me some more of these Redneck words to contribute...I want to be a productive individual on these boards. LOL :)

Well, best get back to work...By bosses have gone over yonder and I better look like I'm working if'n they return sooner than expected. :)

Oh...and Beano...how do you know Steve's cousin Jim Bob?!!!

LOL

Let's just say, Steve's mother's side of the family...Could be on Jerry Springer every day of the week for 10 years and never run out of stereotypical redneck fodder! :) LOL

Ssshhhh...don't tell my DH I said that. LOL Course, if he ever gets off his butt and figures out a DIS Name and sign on, he can read it for himself. LOL

Hi Everyone,

Since nametags seem to be a popular idea, here is what I plan to throw together. I will take all the names and info from the "Who's going" page, so if there is a typo/mistake there - let me know. I'll do these about 1 week before we sail, so if you are lurking and haven't asked to be added to the page yet, you have about 1 week left!

I am just going to "mail merge" the names/info using Word onto cardstock and cut them to 3.5" x 2". I'll pick up the self-adhesive pinbacks from a hobby/craft store and that is all there is to them. They'll look something like this, unless someone has a better idea...
