Roll Call - April 3, 2004 Eastern Magic!

The ticket prices will probably continue to go up from here, because of the Easter holiday.

IF ANY OF YOU GUYS GOING ON THIS APRIL 3, EASTERN CRUISE WANT TO EMAIL ME AND CHAT ABOUT IT, PLEASE DO. MAYBE SOME OF OUR KIDS WILL BE IN THE SAME GROUP. OH MAN, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW EXCITED I AM ABOUT THIS CRUISE. THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST DC. WE HAVE CRUISED BEFORE BUT OUR DAUGHTER HASN'T, SHE WILL BE 8 WHEN WE GO. I WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU PEOPLE WHO POST REGULARLY. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS SITE YESTERDAY AND HAVE READ ALMOST EVERYTHING. YOU GUYS ARE SO HELPFUL. I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT A DISSER IS? LOL AND ALSO HOW DO YOU GET THAT THING ON THE BOTTOM OF THE POST THAT SAYS HOW MANY MORE DAYS, HOURS, MINUTES TILL THE CRUISE?

Welcome to the boards! You will find a wealth of information here. Go to the tech support board and there will be a thread at the top that directs you on how to get the tag line with the countdown.

This is our second cruise and I know you will love it. What state are you from and what kind of cabin did you book?

Can we use this as the "official" thread?
I don't know how that works?

Thanks!

Sillysmom - welcome to the DIS! It will be awesome for you on this cruise. Here is the place that we can do all the chatting about the cruise - let's keep this thread going.

Thanks for the welcome guys! We are from Long Island, New York. And we are very excited especially my 8 year old DD (see i'm gettin the lingo already). We booked category 11 with a guarantee (just found out what that is). People are saying that the guarantee gives you a better chance of an upgrade. We shall see. I will be happy with this room, only because we do not sit still EVER. We like to keep very busy, and the $1000 more for the veranda was NUTS. Least I think so. Any comments on that? I would love to keep this thread going. My boss is freaking, ever since I've found this site, I have been on NON STOP. I just ordered the passporters book on amazon brand new for $4.50 think I got a good deal. Can't wait to get it. I'm finding so much out from you regulars its great thanks again.::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Hi again Sillysmom. I'm originally from Long Island-- south shore in Suffolk County. Where on the Island are you? You can send me a Private Message if you don't want to post it. Look on the screen and you'll see a button to send a private message.

HI BACK KPG, I LIVE IN CORAM, THATS RIGHT NEXT TO PORT JEFFERSON. HAVE YOU BEEN ON OTHER DC'S? ARE YOU TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN? IF SO HOW OLD ARE THEY?

My mom taught school (art) in Port Jeff for many years. They have since moved to Vermont. My grandmother lives in Stoneybrook and my Aunt/Uncle in Hauppauge- all near you.

We are traveling with our DS9 (son who is 9) and our DD7 (daughter who will be 7 when we cruise). We have cruised the Western before on what is affectionately known as the "mystery cruise) because bad weather caused many detours and changed ports as Trekker will attest.

I grew up in Central Islip, which is the next town over from Hauppauge. That is cool. Anyway maybe your son and my daughter will be in the same group, that would be cool. I love this board is unbelievable. I'm taking down notes like crazy. I'm trying to do that countdown thing, but it is simply now working. Once I put in all the information, there is no enter key or anything. Do you have a clue?

I certainly can attest to the mystery cruise last spring - But I personally loved Costa Maya!

My kids are a bit older than either of yours - 14 and 16 when we cruise - I gotta tell ya - sometimes it feels like DW and I are on a cruise by ourselves - the kids are always gone doing something.

The only thing we insist on is dinner together every night

I really liked Costa Maya too! It was a nice compact port and we had fun on the beach. The free entertainment was decent. I liked the pool there, but we didn't go in because it was chilly. It was too bad the weather was so crummy. I also wonder if the water is always so cold or if cold water just floated in because of the storms.

Sillysmom, I didn't see your post until just now. Would you believe I graduated from East Islip High School? I lived in South Great River. I was in the same grade as Boomer.

Hi Everyone!!! Just popping in on your thread. We won't be joining you on this cruise, I just wanted to wish you all well. I was solo at WDW last April, and had the pleasure of meeting Trekker, Mrs. Trekker, and the 2 Trekker Teens at an Off Kilter show. They had just finished their cruise in '03.

What a nice family, and the kids were just aces. So nice to see them enjoying hanging out with Mom and Dad, and not being 'too cool'. If you get the chance, make a point to meet them and say Hi.

I hope you all have a blast!!!!!

Debbie <-----hoping to convince DH we need an April '05 cruise!

HEY KPG, what year did you graduate? I graduated in 1980, my DH in 1977. My husband worked with Boomers brother in law for 25 years. lol it is a small world. My brothers went to St. Marys School for a couple of years too. I used to be in East Islip alot when MEAT FARMS was there, do you remember that? Hope we can meet up with each other on this cruise. That would be cool. Linda

I graduated in 1979. Sure I remember Meat Farms. I had friends that worked there while in High School.

Hi Debbie,

It was a pleasure to have metyou as well. Thanks so much for all teh kind words, it is a great joy to hear when other people enjoy meeting the kids!

Trekker - thanks for your countdown clock! I check this thread often for that countdown! Getting close to buying my airline tickets (ouch!). Still thinking about where we will stay the night before. What's everyone else's plans? Anyone made a reservation yet? What are the prices like at the airport hotels or near the port during spring break?

We get in early on April 2 and we're going to check out Pop Century for the night before.
